THE VOICE I HEARD DELIVER THIS SONG WAS THE AWESOME TERRI GIBBS. I HAD NOT HEARD YOUR ORIGINAL LIVE WITH HARMONICA ON IT. BEAUTIFULLY DELIVERED. THE SONG PAINTS A PICTURE OF A MOTHER WHO KNEW HER SON WAS ON THAT CROSS. BUT SHE KNEW BIGGER WAS AT STAKE. YOU CAUGHT HER HEART I THINK BRUCE.
With today being Good Friday I just repeating the line “darkness covered all the land in the middle of the day”... and could not remember the rest of the song or the artist! I’ve been searching all day! So glad you posted this
My mom used to sing this to me. My imagination went wild when I’d listen to the lyrics of the songs she’d sing to me. I must have been about 4 years olds. I seen nails with wheels driving around the scenery from the Bible books I had. I seen an undertaker with a wheel in a casket, the family crying because the father’s car was crashed. I seen a boy upset because his spirit lost a race. Cartoon hammers dancing around a temple. The mom got so mad she shook the whole earth. Her soul was standing next to her, and a sound pierced it’s ear, just a ghostly figure getting its ear pierced by sound. I don’t know how I have failed so horribly to understand just how little my kids really understood at that age. I treated them like little adults. I would make up objects for words I didn’t understand. When my mom sang Fist City by Loretta Lynn I imagined that a pity was a chunk of chicken from Campbell’s soup. I have two little babies again much later in my life, and I’m going to treat them like they get the gist, but their imagination is running wild to fill in what they don’t understand. Hopefully my older kids will understand that I meant well haha.
