I agree with most of what you said other than the thing about if you're not a good person you'll suffer more. To me it seems some of the best suffer the worst. Not saying it should be that way but it shakes out like that sometimes
About the moral compass: One can learn a very healthy moral way of living by simply examining other peoples behavior and what outcomes they have. Laws and customs of the place you live plus learning not just from your own, but most of all from others mistakes and successes. I've heard many believers ask that how can you be a morally good person if you don't read the bible? Why can't I? It's not your own moral view if it's forced to you. Take bits from here and bits from there and make up your own. There could be some good tips in the bible of course, as there could be some in the lyrics of a rock song.
That is true. For instance, look at the levels of anti-depressant use among women since feminism. So we can easily establish the culture since the 1960s for women has been a total negative. Then, look at the levels of disease amongst gay people, that lifestyle is a disgusting trashfire. Then look at the fulfilling, loving contentment couples experience raising children and raising them to do as they have done. So from watching peoples behaviour, it is without doubt the most moral life to find a partner, marry and reproduce. Which is exactly what Jesus told us to do.

Bruce said without looking outside of yourself for a higher power, you have no moral compass. He's absolutely right, and this is actually one of the best proofs there is of the existence of a good creator God. Because you have a conscience and intuitively know that good is better than evil, and you are naturally inclined to good, then God exists and is good. This goodness can only come from something greater than you. C.S. Lewis explains this far better than I can!
Hummm… sorry to disagree. I’m 100% atheist and I do have a moral compass. How do you explain that? I’m not perfect, but I know the difference between good and bad. I try to behave well in society. I treat people with respect. I don’t steal. I'm happy to live in a country where I pay taxes, because it helps everybody. I also respect the planet I live on. I give to charity (including a significant recent donation to Ukraine - what about you?). I never got into a fight. I’m an animal lover, etc., etc. So how is that possible? In the US, the incarceration rate is higher among believers than non-believers. Based on that alone, it seems that atheists have a better moral compass. What about all those priests abusing children. What happened to their God-given moral compass? There are many scientific experiments demonstrating that animals also have a moral compass. For example, they react when one is treated unfairly (ex less food). I don’t want to start a God fight but please just know that there are other ways to look at it beside the “God of the gaps” concept. Up the Irons.

So the proof is inside of you, if you care to seek it out. I think a lot of atheists are afraid to seek it out. (Not saying you are.) If you really want to know, turn your heart and mind to God and pray for him to show you truth. Then keep your heart and mind open to receive it, however it comes. This actually works if you are open. Personally I think atheism is the most ridiculous philosophy or religion of them all. Like I said, try reading C.S. You don't need anything to have a moral compass though. This is just logical fallacy on Bruce's part. This is what religious people usually use to justify their beliefs in something with no evidence. You could say plenty of animals have a moral compass of sorts and they don't believe in gods in any shape.
From his album artwork and lyrics, he is almost certainly a freemason. Not hating on that. What God he has as his higher power may be a deist type entity or an interpretation of a moral law, creator God. It does matter what the higher power is though - things like justice, power, equality, safety, health, schnapps; these can all be tyrannical if we make them our god. It has to encompass and regulate all those and other aspects of life. Up the irons!
This is an excellent point. Taking the optimistic interpretation, higher power as “anything” should be “anything within a certain scope.” If that higher power and your faith and practices inspire you to be moral and decent how you conceive of it can vary. When Bruce says “it could be this glass” he’s being theatric, but he’s also coming close to the moral equivalence line that “it’s all the same, it could be anything … or nothing” that I would take issue with.
