Population of Canada in WW2 was just over 11 million. And close to a million was involved in the war effort! Including my Dad, mid upper gunner, Lancaster, 415 squadron !

Absolutely awesome! Looks like Bruce had an amazing time! That particular Lanc spent many years on a pedestal in St. Thomas Ontario, and is now flying due to the hard work & dedication of numerous volunteers. Massive props to everyone involved!

My uncle Dennis Carty (Sargent pilot) flew Wellingtons in Canadian Bison squadron. He was English his crew was Canadian and Australian all KIA on their 6th mission. People forget just how close the bond was in the allied camp. Hero's all. He was 21 years old and the oldest crew member was 27

To any and all Iron Maiden fans and hopefully to the band themselves, please listen to my story. I was blessed to be able to go to my first and only Maiden concert, or any concert for that matter, with my dad in 2010 as an early birthday present. The Final Frontier tour in San Antonio was the greatest experience of my entire life as a 12 year old kid and even now. My dad, now in his 60s, introduced me to the wailing of Bruce Dickinson's voice on The Best of the Beast that my 8 year old self found tucked away in his case of endless rock and metal cds. My love for this band and this sound became as synonymous as Texas and football and I have never forgotten how important this became to my relationship with my dad. Today, my dad only has 1 and a half feet because of a MRSA infection brought on through diabetes, his kidneys are failing on him constantly, and I don't know how long he has left. Now that I am living away from him in Corpus Christi 60 miles away my only wish was to hopefully take my dad to one last show before I end up losing him. I had for the last 2 months been donating plasma at my local donation center while working a 9 to 5 job and saving as much of my paycheck as I could to buy 2 tickets and Trooper passes for me and my dad to drive 120 miles to San Antonio from Beeville, TX to see Maiden again. I was hoping to share my first beer of my entire life, an ice cold Trooper, with my dad at the Legacy of the Beast tour. It would have been a moment that meant more to me and hopefully more to him than anything. Unfortunately, my truck that has been in my family for 17 years broke down when I was returning from overtime work in another city. My truck is possibly a total loss and now I don't have a vehicle to visit my parents or even get to work. The money i spent to tow the truck back home to get checked by a mechanic and on the parts I needed to fix have completely drained my bank account including the money I had saved for this concert. I still do not have enough money to fix my truck completely and I doubt I will any time soon. I won't be able to repay a loan to cover the repair costs or make car payments for a used car with my paychecks that go mostly to bills except maybe with the help of donating plasma again. I could care less about how hard the road to recovery is for myself though. The most disappointing thing to me is that I won't be able to see my dad even in sickness yelling at the top of his lungs trying to match Bruce's intensity or the look of astonishment on his face when he sees the giant devil Eddie and the spitfire and the stained glass windows that create such a breathtaking experience in person. This band brought us together closer than ever before and I appreciate everything my dad has ever done for me in my life. He made me the man I am today and I just hoped to repay him for making me believe in myself and teaching me not to ever give up and to try my best in all things I do. I hope that maybe next year Maiden is on the road again so hopefully we can see them. If I lose my dad before then I will still proudly belt out the songs that he introduced me to and I grew up listening to on my way to school full blast making the speakers crackle. I will still wear my Final Frontier tour shirt that he bought me in all its cracked and faded glory from the hundreds if not thousands of times I've worn it. Even when I lose my dad the memories I have will always remain and I will cherish them forever. Thank you to whoever read this through. This fanbase feels like such a family to be a part of the way that people interact with each other and I am proud to say that I am a part of it. I hope that our love and admiration for Maiden only continues to grow and we see the boys for many years to come. Thank you all and Up The Irons...

Amazing. My grandpa was an observer, bomb aimer in Wellingtons and Lancaster's and got the DFC for flying over 70 missions and being shot down which I only found out in recent years. Said he would smoke over 60 cigarettes on a mission hence only one lung working properly many years later. Died at 91 and everytime I see a Lancaster I always think of him

Bruce, can't wait to see you guys in Cincinnati next week. If you have time to stop, you should go to the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio (where I'm from). It is the largest and oldest military aviation museum in the world. It is truly incredible and you would absolutely love it!

i had the very good pleasure of seeing her twice when she made her visit over here a few years ago. and she flew with our Lancaster . to see and hear 2 of these beautiful queens in the sky, and knowing theirs one more making ground runs at east kirby which both flew over during her visit, which i missed made my hair stand on end and a tear in the eye

MY HOME TOWN OF HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA. Mr Dickinson you flew right over my house I wish I knew, that flight has been a dream of mine since I first sat in the cockpit at the museum as a kid. I can only imagine how awesome of an experience it was, I will be thinking of you and the rest of the band on August 9th - 10th while you shred up Toronto once again and from one big time fan to one big time star, what a small world EH! Thank you for sharing this amazing once in lifetime experience and for sharing your visit to our amazing museum with the World!

I was extremely lucky to have seen a restored Lancaster flying at a local air show in Reading PA, USA I believe it was visiting from Canada......the sight and sound of 4 RR Merlins at full song flying overhead was absolutely incredible. 😉👍

As an American, I'll admit that is a beautiful and awesome plane, shame only 2 are left flying. Doesn't hold a candle to our B-17 or especially the B-29, and I am so glad we FINALLY got a 2nd flying B-29, "Doc".

Little did I know when I was 12yrs old and listening to Number of The Beast for the first time, Maiden would be my favorite band! 39 yrs later they are still around. And I also share the same passion as my favorite lead singer for aviation (see my screen name...FAA Mechanic I am an aircraft mechanic as well as a PPL holder ). Thanks for all the non “wasted years” as I learned to “fly like an eagle” to the “empire in the clouds”. And not to exclude Steve Harris...I also play bass guitar because of him. Still trying to get that gallop to sound as good as Steve’s :)

Hey Bruce. When you are in Chicago. There's a town just South of there called Valparaiso. At the Valparaiso airport is a club who has a private collection of ww2 aircraft. I suggest a visit.

twas 1977 the Queens Silver Jubilee we lived at the time in London South Kensington to be exact, we were watching the event on tv, the Royal Family were on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and a flypast of the Battle oc Britain memorial flight flew overhead allowing for a slight delay in transmission of the time we heard this godawful noise we ran into the street, looked up, and there it was one Avro Lancaster one Hawker Hurricane and last but not least one Supermarine Spitfire. six Merlin engines at 100 feet roaring across London

Hold onto your hat Bruce, one day there will be a third airworthy Lancaster, and the second in Canada. The Bomber Command Museum in Nanton, Alberta, 30 minutes from Calgary, is getting theirs back in the air. They have a section of land for a runway already, and all 4 engines are running again. Best part is, they are a private museum, not government funding, and rely solely on donations. Even admission is by donation. A true passion for warplanes.

There's only one thing better than hearing a spitfires merlin and that's hearing 4 of them ,I can't remember the tag of Canadians Lanc(dizzy moment) only other one in UK (phantom of the rhur) ,plus one being rebuilt after recent fire (thumper 3)
