Ya absolutely right, Bruce’s films do get better and better with each year that passes. I’m always struck with sadness whenever I watch a Bruce lee film, these movies touch me in a way that no other movies do. What could’ve been drives me nuts, but I am thankful that we got what we got from Bruce. An absolute icon. I also wondered what you thought of this set when you compare it to the arrow set, just curious to hear your thoughts about that.
Nice collection u have superb taste Bruce Lee is the king of Kombat I also like Philip Rhee from Best of the best. I used 2 have Alot of Bruce Lee DVD's and VHS different covers and things sold them all even had the weird 23rd century Bruce Lee slim case DVD's fist of fury and the real Bruce Lee and the waterfall entertainment realise of fists of fury (the big boss) all UK releases as u know eBay sell them.
I kept my tape I just got the big boss on vhs and I got the collection on blu and it is brilliant quality and I got dragon the bruce lee story on dvd I wish it had the rank covers on the blue Ray love your bruce lee videos
There's a new criterion collection out in a couple of weeks featuring all of Lee's movies and a new 2K print of the theatrical version of Enter The Dragon.
Wow, I didn't know this was coming out, I've just looked, it's called Bruce Lee: His Greatest Hits...Criterion make awesome stuff! Looks like I could be buying these AGAIN! haha Cheers Gary
I hate the fact that Enter the Dragon is the only one not to receive a 4k restoration treatment like the other 4 films, them knowing damn well its the best and well known film of his, also they should had tried and restored those amazing 30 minutes of unused footage form the documentary Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey, im pretty sure WB Warner Brothers has something to do with it
Love it, not picked up the blu rays or 4K discs , still have the original Rental Bruce Lee videos cut though they are , loved when Bey Logan on Hong Kong legends got the films out on DVD uncut , the pleasure of that boxset seeing the nunchuck scenes and not just the film cuts to body’s lying around and Bruce standing there was terrific, If you have Netflix Stripey have you watched “the legend of Bruce Lee” drama series , 50 episodes of this Chinese Tv series detailing the rise to the death of Bruce , sure they’ve manipulated the truth but its kind of hard to stop watching after you get through the Chinese years to his American side of the story , it’s subtitled which I don’t mind having grown up in the eighties watching the Golden harvest and Jackie Chan stuff to get the proper story instead of the poor dubbed cut versions ..
Thanks, Kenneth, I appreciate it. Bruce has been one of my idols for many years. Have you seen the new documentary "Be Water"? I may review it at some point. cheers for watching
Stripey Rambles I did watch The “Be Water” Documentary And I really enjoyed it!! I personally would Love To See You Do A Review on That if you wanted to do so. Cheers 🥂 right back Buddy 👍👍
I like the name “the little dragon”. Like “Enter the little dragon”. Or the “way of the little dragon”. The movie Game of Death is set in a temple not a pagoda only, but a temple and Bruce Lee ascends to the height of the temple in a spiritual sense, and wins through enlightenment. The Big Boss has a great setting in an ice factory. I was watching ice making in India at an ice factory like the one in the Big Boss and I thought it came off as looking really cool and interesting and holding the attention of the audience; I would love to do a remake of the Big Boss. Fists of Fury was already remade and it was cool.
Checking out some of your earlier Bruce Lee videos - you should probably put a pinned comment saying these aren’t 4K discs maybe the description meant mastered from a 4K source or something? Either way - always fun to hear your impressions of these Lee films and see what you look like clean shaven 😂
Hi mate. Have a really happy 2019. The Bruce Lee box looks great. And the 4k quality ........ wow. That must be amazing. A few weeks ago you posted a video of a book on Bruce Lee, and after that I wat hed The Way Of The Dragon. It was nice to see that movie again.
Cool video, like that you've included clips from the films. Do you think it's worth buying this set or the individual blu rays with the cooler artwork?
Thank you Des, This set is all 4K except Enter the Dragon, the single discs do not, now if you're not fussed the 1080p on the single discs look amazing. You get the cool original artwork in both. In my humble opinion, I think the Box Set is a winner and the most complete set of Bruce's films.
@@StripeyR Hi could you please confirm that the game of death pagoda Bruce Lee shot with James Tien is that entire footage contained somewhere in this set?
You should look into getting the individual "Collector's Edition" US blu-ray releases from Shout! Factory. They are 4K remastered with color correction, so they look even better than the UK 4K remastered blu-rays. There are extras and soundtracks not found on the UK blu-rays. I do like that the UK blu-rays have the Bey Logan commentaries and extras from the Hong Kong Legends 2-disc dvds. I took the booklets from the dvd/blu-ray combos and stuck them in the Master Collection boxset.
With 4K on a standard Blu ray don't assume that if it was remastered in 4K it will look just as good as native 4K (like on UHD blu ray) since when the film was put onto blu ray it would be down scaled to 1080p (It still looks good in 1080p and the 4K remastering boasts as much of the detail as possible) so you are fine with a 1080p TV and 1080p blu ray player, (I think the masters are identical to the stand alone blu rays). Still a great video and a great box set too.
on the individual realeses the way of the dragon has a flash frame right at the end when we see the cat just before bruce has chuck in the killer headlock. the cat flickers on and off and back on again. I hope there's no errors like that in the arrow 4k coming out soon. Also the boxset isnt in 4k, it was mastered to 1080p bluray from a 4k master. The tricky wording on the box makes it look like its in 4k. we gotta watch the companies and their marketing lol.
We do have to watch these companies, you're right mate. I hadn't noticed the Way of the Dragon flicker, I'll have to re-watch to see it. I'm very hopeful for the Arrow release (I can't wait to be honest) cheers pal
@@compingnick I know mate, after all this time, finally. We find out Friday the 28th about all the extras & artwork. I've pre-ordered this, just hoping it arrives early 😃
Hi Stripey, do the Golden Harvest films have the original Mandarin language supported by subtitles or is it the same dubbed voice tracks from the 1980's video tapes?
Interested to hear your thoughts on this set, great video, I really wish I had kept the original copies and not got rid of them for this box set, as I LOVE the original artwork!!! Cannot be beaten 👌👌👌🤩🤩🤩
I think it's a great boxset, John. It was the first complete Bruce Lee collection on Blu-Ray (to my knowledge) until the Criterion set, that is. I think the Arrow set will be the one, 4K UHD. It's just a shame, Enter the Dragon is the 40th Anniversary Blu-Ray. Cheers mate 👍
So nice of a Christmas gif . I do think you will have a lot to watch … Besides Beatle Brad's videos lol !!!! I have all of the Green Hornet videos . I would like to get some of his videos . You knw best part for you is that you didn't get jet lag lol . Thank you so much for watching and have a happy new year my friend !!!!!
I can see why you want the laserdiscs bro there original prints but semi remastered and give the traditional old skool feel when you watch them . its nice to have them there great prints and the English sound prints are much clearer than the hk legends eng soundstracks
Ho Stripey, i like your vids about Bruce Lee, a have a maybe weird quistion, is there anny chance that i can copys of the retro covers (from the master collections Blu rays? With the white covers from the early ‘80s rental covers. Maybe with WeTranfer full Pix. I have the Blu rays. Also the German Blu ray box with retro SUPER8 covers on Blu ray. I’m gladly to pay you for the covers if there is a way to send it with We Transfer. Kindly regarding from the Netherlands PS: the original Blu rays costs me big. Shipping and duane , tax pay and have no PayPal. Otherwise i buy them original. But the Master Collection has NO reversable covers Cheers🤙🏻
Hi mate are these better picture than the previous uk blu rays you have or is there not much difference or none . I have the hk legends and shout factory master collection that wasn't great . thanks
Hey, Daniel, to be honest, I can't say until I've bought a 4K tv & player. I think the UK blu rays are fantastic, I just wanted a Bruce Lee box set that includes Enter the Dragon. Once I get 4K I will be doing a review. Cheers
@@StripeyR Hi Stripey . hope all is well bro . I am pleased to announce that the blu ray 4k scans are fantastic . much better than any of the previous . compared them back to back . Don't worry about the 4k thing a 4k player tv is not required its just the scan from the master prints .
What sense does it make to call these regular blu-rays "4K"? Does that mean that they have the optimal transfer an it wouldn't really make a difference to give them a real/full 4K transfer?
It means they were remastered in 4K and then scaled back in output to 2K/1080 for use as a Blu Ray. It's supposedly the optimal way to remaster films short of full 4K UHD.
Yes, mate. Obviously it's already been opened but I could show the contents and give my thoughts on picture, sound and presentation. Keep an eye out pal, cheers
This is beauituful box. Look at what they gave us recently for the European/Region 2 with various subtitles - including Danish ones that I usually go for: www.dvdoo.dk/blu-ray-film/bruce-lee-collection-blu-ray-d419780 Very cheap but quite crappy with no bonus material and without the original languages. There seem to be no editions that both have the original audio/language and Danish (and Swedish, Norwegian etc.) subtitles. But since I don't really have a problem with English subtitles and really want the original language too, I definetily go for that Master Collection box. Speaking on the original language: I see that the Master Collection has both Cantonese and Mandarin language. Which one is the original?
