I always have to watch Clarence's filmed performances twice because I break out crying the first attempt. I'm a 70-year old greaseball hippy. I've seen the boys over 50 times. ALWAYS stellar.....but back when Clarence was stalking that stage.....man, it's like tryin' to tell a stranger about rock'n'roll....he was a F O R C E O F N A T U R E ! I weep....then I ROCK! ;>)
@@bopcommmy goodness! I was looking around the internet for who "Big Man" is. I changed upon this "the making" and with so much excitement, I am saddened by this comment that the man is known as Clarence and is now late! My God! He was the soul of the No Nukes concert and his chemistry with Bruce Springsteen can't help but make non initiate wonder who he is/was. RIP Big Man Clarence.
I'll never forget my first Springsteen concert in 81 and the energy before the show started, and the intimacy among 40,000 people during the show. When Bruce jumped on the speakers or dunked his head in ice water, it took my breath away! I can't believe I didn't want to go to that show, and I'm so glad I did and every show after that. 💙
My life is a mess, but it will always be complete, listening to this music! Thank you, Bruce for giving me the strength to fight and for making me dream with all the wonder that you and your musicians have created.
This was about the time I developed this huge crush on Bruce Springsteen, and two years later seeing him live in '81, as young as I was, my first concert ever, making working at concerts my job many years later, forever grateful to my brother and sister for taking me with them and I've never seen a better performer ever (and I've literally seen thousands), and our entire family being Springsteen admirers to the point he's part of the family, from happy to sad, from weddings to funerals. Bruce you are the best !!!! Thank you as always !!!
This is like hiring a time machine for the evening and going back to see what the fuss was all about in respect of Bruce Springsteen and his band. The energy and commitment of these musicians is awesome. A high octane performance all round.
This is what I told so many fans to get the download immediately on Tuesday and share it with everybody including non-fans so they could see why millions of people are hooked on these live performances and where all of the true hype began. I was fortunate enough to be at both of these shows. They were the fourth and fifth time I’d ever seen Bruce. I’m now at 176 and I’m hoping I can get 200 by the next tour. 🤠🤠
I most agree with Jon Landau’ words at the end of this segment, because even as a 10 year old kid, I knew this was energy no one else could manifest half as well as Bruce and his band! And I remember wanting to share it with the world and shove it down EVERYONE’s throat!! in my life I have seen over 30 concerts of the boss and each one is unique. here in san siro it was a memorable evening. and in all, all, all the occasions that I review this and other videos I see only one thing: joy, joy and more joy. of him, of the musicians and of all the people framed. happiness to be there with him, with all the other people present and rejoice in the joy he gives us every time. even more so in difficult times like these. we remain united and resist to return to being free and happy as during those hours spent with him. stay health & safe. best, Alessandro
Paul count your blessings. I turned 60 last week, have loyally bought records, tapes and CD’s, but have never seen Bruce & Patty live on stage other than on tv. I still admire the good works they’ve done and do, as the daughter of a late UMWA Coal Miner who helped during many Union strikes, then officially helped Sam Church run for UMWA President in 1988, I think was the year. Anyway, he was a former coal miner who lost that election to a lawyer LoL. I moved away in 1989 for my work, also knowing that was the end of an era there. Dad was long retired already and my ex was laid off again. He found construction work, a new career for him, and my pay almost doubled. Now retired, those were our glory days. The Boss was playing in my car over the miles, as I visited my parents every long weekend and vacation that came my way, so no concerts in my schedule. Becoming a workaholic didn’t take long, since that was my reason for relocating with my hungry heart and life. TMI to say Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band stayed consistent in my life. As you stated, always was, is and ever will. ~

I was there 17th row, Center Stage. What a night, traveled from Cleveland to get there. If people hadn't seen Bruce Springsteen during the Darkness and the River tours ? They hane never seen Bruce at his finest. My first experience seeing Bruce Springsteen was the Agora Ballroom, and from there on in I was hooked. I have seen him over 35 times. In 7 different east coast cities. In my opinion he picked up the mantle of Elvis Presley as the king of rock and roll. No other performer has even come close.

You guys are so lucky. Such wonderful memories. I have now seen Bruce a handful of times (it's a bit harder in New Zealand) and the memories of those shows are special times in my life.
Wow ! I have only seen him a handful of times, but it's for lack of finances ! He and his band are all exceptionally talented, and sing and play from the heart. River tour, my last time seeing. As I think of Bruce, I think of him as a Brother. A Bother in music, and a Brother in life itself. It's like he tells my story in so many of his songs. His music has been with me since the 1st time I heard him sing. I love him. And I love his band ! I pray the good Lord lets me see him, just once more. Just once more. 🙏 We can celebrate our Birthdays once again, if he tours in September. I feel so lucky to have been an 18 yo from a small Jersey town about 15 mi from Freehold in 1979!! I can remember blasting anything Springsteen from those 6x9 top of the line EPI speakers in my '73 Camaro and YES, the girls loved it too!! Rock on Bruce!!

The first Bruce´s song I heard was "Hungry Heart". I didn´t know there were songs of "Born to run", "Darkness.." and "Nebraska"... to know his music was to love him. Many years later I could see him and the E Street Band in concert, but before that I had became a fan already. As I always say: his devotion to his work and to his fans is amazing! Thanks, Bruce!

My guy in my teens and 20’s. Still listen today but in those times, the 1970’s he was a magical mystical shaman who blasted fender notes and guttural screams into my headphones. Friends new about him of course and some got him. Not all did and that’s alright too. Listened to far away radio programs on my radio. Bought the albums, DOTEOT being my favourite to this day. One of the few artists where I got to know every word, breath, scream, and a guitars tortured notes. I dug the entire band and the band was the formula. The fountain of energy and teleportation. Saw him 3 times, yeah that’s about 500 times to few, and that was a ride and a half. Anyways we’re born, we live, we do what we can, we overachieve, underachieve, make mistakes and sometimes win one once in a while and then we die until the next time. Make no mistake, this guy was a big win in my life. He’s one guy you can’t explain to someone who is not tuned to his force. But if you get him you were given a moment to “Walk in the Sun” as it were.

A Springsteen show always seemed to me like God telling Springsteen he only had three hours left to live life. “What are you going to do with it?” and Springsteen responding, “I’m gonna play a show.” As Springsteen said in this documentary at the end, “It was full out. It was always full out.” That was Springsteen live in concert, and when he did it gloriously, you could see your own life pass before your eyes…..
Wish I was there.. This is when NYC had edge. Musician after musician playing at their top performances and all for a cause.. We need to bring back more of these shows vs very produced ones.

Could not agree more. I recall being at school talking Springsteen with some people who were saying that they never heard of him, and I said " Don't worry, you will!!"
I was at that concert and after that the only thing I could ever say about concerts that I had seen was that nothing and no one matched the pure energy level of Bruce Springsteen. It was incredibly endless and engaged you full on till the end with more to spare. He was truly an amazing guy to watch in concert and yes in regards to the comment Bruce mentioned in vid -what he was doing def worked. And Clarence!!!!!!
i was at one of the shows, the band gave Bruce a birthday cake and he threw it in the audience lol. what a show ill never forget how good they were that night.

@Bruce Springsteen thank you bruce but all my day brings is bullying intimidated terrorised 3 full years now & all through the lockdown .. my little dog is petrified . i'm not allowed to play any music in the house the council moved me into a year ago & one above bullying me on a daily & nightly basis . it's your strength & music that keeps me going . i put headphones on to listen to you .. hope there's a god out there for me just like you found .. It saddened me a bit to listen to your life ect but your a wonderful honest person with a heart of gold . i hope we have great years to come of you and your fantastic music .. going to name & shame my bullies & one is a nurse & a total disgrace to the nhs treating & bullying a woman ie myself aged 62 .. the police let me down my housing office let me down so it's time to take a stand on my own .. you inspired me & millions with your life stories .. you keep that fantastic music alive & coming to the fans .. thanks for being a legend
