it's an Fmajor add 9. lifting you second finger adds a G to the F chord, G is the ninth. other call it a Fmaj7sus2 but I think of suspensions as being on the third. Like play a DMajor chord, put you pinky on on the 3rd fret and that's a Dsus. Lift your second finger and you've added an E note to a D chord, again that's a ninth but some call it a D sus2. In the opening riff of each verse you're right in that its a C maj chord followed by an F maj 7 but the first note picked in each chord is the C note, so you're only playing the F maj 7 from the fifth string (C) on down so your making the 5th the root of the chord. You have to mute or not play the F note with your thumb. The 2 chords chang but start with the same note. Cool effect and takes advantage of the common notes between the 2 different chords and moves the notes with the least movement. It's something piano players to easily but it's harder on guitar. The way Bruce wrote this it's the magic behind the riff. Listen for the hammerons too. check my version out an see what you think. your vocal is very good. and you do have the exact right chord on the word "more". it's that Fmaj7 add9 I mentioned. (one of my favorite chords and got me started addi nights to chords as much as possible) All of the other F chords are major 7 chords not the barred F chord.
the capo goes where you voice likes it best. Your right there is not E major chord in the song but there is an E minor after the D minor right after "tell me friend". Of course on piano that would be an E minor chord because the capo, if you do it at the 3rd fret makes it actually a G minor for the non guitar instruments. but in guitar chords, there certainly is an E minor chord just like the one he play here.
