This is what a car is about ,, usable reliable power and the owner can handle it ,, unlike many so called bad man's who have stupid bhp but can't even get close to the limit of there car !!!
Not a fan of BMW's apart from older M cars and old school BMW's. But this is different. The owner has concentrated on making this car a drivers car. People seem to forget that a car doesn't need a gazillion horsepower to be enjoyable. Being able to wring an engine's neck savouring every last rev, , enjoying changing gear whilst feeling the tyres grip through the steering wheel, controlling the cars direction with your right foot, makes you feel one with the car, blipping the throttle as you brake and down change at the same time. BMW, Mercedes and Audi all seem to have lost this. Yes they are fast both in a straight line and around the corners, but they have no feel, no character and only start to become fun well beyond license losing territory.
@@SBBUK. Totally agree!! My first car was a mk1 fiesta. It must of weighed 700kg, no mod cons, no power steering, but could be driven to the limits of adhesion, within the speed limits and was so much fun!! My wife know has fiestas and loves them. Occasionally I use her mk7 1.2 while she has the family car and honestly it's so much fun!! Don't knock it till you try it...
This confirms my comment lol people saying he can't afford this and that. He's got some serious motors I don't know if they are his ect but I'm sure he can afford alot more than the people commenting. He's probably spent a bit on this anyway

This is nice to see something thats a normal everyday car thats been modified, ive got a 116i turbo 2012, im going to be build over the next year or two, as far as im aware no-one in the uk has fully build one yet, hoping to break into that 300bhp barrier, i could just go and buy a 135i at the end of it with the money i would have spent but doing somethink that hasent been done before and your own little project is somethink you cant put a price on
This is so weird and makes so little sense... ...and thats exactly why I love it! Love these builds where guys aren't picky but just work with and make the best of what they have on hand.
The comments about the E8X chassis is so true! These cars handle extremely well! I can see the 130i e87/81 and 135i E82/88 becoming modern classics in the near future!
This car looks like a proper drivers car tbh, good chassis good grip and doesn’t need silly power to make people smile, I think this car would be mega if it where on throttle body’s tho
It's all about Naturally Aspirated engines, I prefer straight six old school BMW, these are the ultimate driving machine...before BMW lost the plot with turbocharging. Nice one Rick, you have caught the old school bug!

True but then as he's a tuner and done all of the work himself he knows that car right through so there's a piece of mind there. But I would definitely love one of those 6 pots. I got a 120i and want a new one to play with

I've seen this guy on Monkey Londons channel a while ago and was blown away by his knowledge of BMWs... If I remember correctly he had a Turboed E46 M3 that was nuts! Go Bruno 👍
Love this, all the 6 pot owners never give the 4 pots the time of day when it comes to engine mods, but since the 1 series, i see a lot more ppl squeezing power out of these engines.
I've had two 1 series BMW's. A 130i and a 460bhp M140i. I genuinely preferred the 130i. This 116i kind of reminded me of the 130. Although mine was an msport model, as opposed to his SE, the 130i was always a sleeper as nobody ever knew what it was, despite it having a 265bhp 3.0 straight 6 under the bonnet! Would love to see you do a review of one.
That is not the point of the build, the money spent he could have got it easily, as it has been rephrased he does development and also works with race cars.. etc.

To help him gain time the next time. Buy a 130i, go to bmw buy a 116i logo for 35€. Hop done. I did that to mine a few years ago still puzzled most people.
Superb work by Bruno on the car. I have a 2011 116i and my wallet was saying "DACIA" at the time (Thanks to Andrew). I must say, the work done on the car gave me hope after months of being cricified by RU-vid for having a car that has timing chain problem as it's famously known for that. Part of the plans I am considering for the car is to swop the N47 for a better and realiable motor such as the likes of M50, M52, N50 and others I am still trying to learn about about other 6 cyclinder motors that can fit in the chassis of the car without breaking the bank that much. The route you took really gives me an idea of how one can improve the car's lazy performance... Pity I'm in South Africa and I haven't heard of anyone who has done what you have done the work similar to what you are doing to your car.. I am open to ideas from tuners only.
