Sounds like a fantastic wine and I like your point about the value drinking the trophy producers. I'd be curious of your take on Bartolo Mascarello. I don't have enough Barolo experience to say with any authority, but I've heard quite a few knowledgeable people cite B Mascarello as "the" quintessential Barolo producer.
excellent review as always. as a tip though, you do no favors to wine when you refrigerate it open, quick increase and decrease of temperature of wine is almost always is degrading it😊
llurispuir: that is why I taste each wine multiple times including a couple of times before I refrigerate. I do agree there is going to be degradation but I find it is very, very slight after a day and it some instances, with very new, tannic wines, it does improve the wine. Cheers!
I don't think this is true. No science that I know of says putting an already open bottle in the fridge overnight will degrade it. In fact, the drop in temperature will help preserve it. Quick swings between fridge and room temp will not degrade the wine. Temperature swings are not good for bottles being cellared due to expansion/contraction of gas inside the bottle, causing oxygen to enter the bottle more than you might like.
mcrayfound: I typically taste a wine several times. I will taste with a meal, then later at night. I will then put in the refrigerator, take it out 2-3 hours before my video and retaste for my video. I find if I put in the refrigerator overnight, there is very little degradation overnight, compared to if you leave a bottle overnight at room temperature, most wines change quite dramatically, particularly if there is more than 1/4 of the bottle that has been drank.
