Madilyn's vocal talent is mind boggling, but the alteration of the lyrics doesn't work for me. The tone of the music works really well for retrospection and expressing regrets, lamenting the things that one wishes one did. Taking the viewpoint of the woman rebuking Bruno Mars' character shifts from reflection to accusation and it really needs a different flavor of music to accompany it. Something loud and lively would be more appropriate. That being said, perhaps Madilyn is a straight woman and feels uncomfortable singing about romancing another woman. On the one hand, I respect Madilyn's right to make her own artistic choices. On the other hand, I think I would preferred Madilyn using the original lyrics. Of course, being one of over 11 million viewers, I realize that Ms. Bailey and her production team can't please everyone.
