Same-sex sexual activity was legalised in 1795, with an equal age of consent, except from 1965 until 1985. After granting same-sex couples domestic partnership benefits in 2000, Belgium became the second country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage in 2003. Brussels Pride - The Belgian & European Pride formerly known as The Belgian Pride is the Belgian version of the Gay Pride Parade . It is a coming-out event for LGBT people with a festive, political and cultural character and takes place every year in Brussels on the first Saturday after May 17, the International Day against Homophobia.
