This isn't EXACTLY the same as last years calendar but its close enough! The lack of effort and value in this calendar is insulting and its time for it to go! Let me know what you guys think! I swear it looks just like last year's Annette are you sure that that's not the 2022 one because I opened it and I'll be darned if it doesn't look exactly like the one I opened the last year in 2022 this is crazy okay I have to watch I will remember once I start seeing you go to the days holy Moly. And to think that I was upset because I missed out on this year's 🤔
Yes, please do not give these crappy companies, who offer no value in their calendars, any more of your money. My feeling is as long as people continue to buy them, they will keep producing the same crap. Make them work for their customers. As much fun as it is to watch you open them, it stresses me out to know you wasted your money. 😊
It's absolutely crazy that these affordable brands can't make bomb advent calendars. Like for 95 bucks you can just go buy the elf stuff you want and get a good amount of stuff. I mean it's just ridiculous.
@rabbitlovesraven for real. And the sad part with alot of these calendars and things like ipsy is I get free samples all the time. Like I'm always signing up to get samples and I get some of the things that these companies are charging people money for free.
I find this extra dissapointing. When E.L.F first came out I was so excited that those of us with very tight budgets finally had an affordable brand we could count on. They immediately took over a very large portion of the makeup community but were unable to reward their customers with a token of appreciation for making them an instant success . Bah Humbug elf.
Yes! Especially with the deals they do at Ulta, and the coupons at pharmacies. You could get A LOT of Elf when you take into consideration sales and coupons.
Elf has come out with some really nice products over the last few years. They could have absolutely put together an exciting advent calendar worth the price. This is garbage!!
I think Elf is fed with being in business. That is why they are making these awful calenders. The public will be so fed up they will rush to buy products from other make up brands and Elf will go the same as Yardley and C.I.D ( UK brands that went to the great make up counter in the sky)

Like SO many people wanted jelly pop primer back, & they did bring it back. People asked for Charlotte Tilbury dupes & they did! But I do agree this calendar is disappointing.
That’s what I don’t understand about this mess year after year. ELF is a well liked brand that comes out with great products and affordable dupes, but then completely drop the ball with their advent calendars. I know it’s all about making money and cutting corners as much as possible, but it’s still crazy to me when it comes to ELF. They could really do something cute and fun that would bring in customers year after year. Also with ACTUAL VALUE.
You should do a “season in review” at the end, where you highlight your favorite calendars, maybe your favorite individual items, and definitely list which calendars disappointed and a rogue’s gallery of what you’re blacklisting for next Christmas. (and maybe a hall of shame featuring that single vitamin pill)
I worked retail for 8 years at a place that carried the cheaper makeup advent calenders -including the little elf ones-, 99% of them were purchased by well meaning grandparents and uncles trying to find something for a teen girl. I'm almost positive that's their target audience with these and why most companies won't bother with improving them. I always tried to intervene, and had them show me pictures/social media profiles of them and we'd work together to find some items that matched them for a much better deal. For less than the cost of the advent calander they usually got a 5 or 6 decent makeup products that looked like they'd match/be in their comfort zone, and usually another item like a perfume/body spray, fuzzy socks/slippers, or a piece of jewelry.
This wasn't just the advent calendar from 2022, it was the same stuff as 2021's advent calendar. Only difference is the outside of 2022 was silver blue lumenessence foil and 2021 was a snowflake pattern.
Aww yes when you see the Advent Calendar Video Inception up in the left corner you know it's going to be good. Elf should not be fighting Sephora for the top terrible advent calendar spot.
I used to work for elf. They absolutely recycle the same advent calendard every year. They are legitimately the worst deal every single year. They just update the packaging but nothing else.
Ok ! this! I would take this as proof that this is EXPIRED , also with the condensation, fingerprint, etc, and ask for my money back! I think she should ask for her money back! the least they can say is no ,right!!??
@@meldisneycm7512 I will say that the expired idea doesn't hold up. These products are mass produced and have a VERY long shelf life. All cosmetics are the same way.
Its wild the Plouise calendar was what only about $120 more and about a thousand times better. I remember when they used to sell elf in 7-Eleven for dollar or two dollars!
I love elf. They have come out with some amazing products this past year. There is no reason to have such an awful advent calendar! Their products are affordable but great; their advent calendar should of mirrored this. This is disappointing for sure.
I remember when Elf products used to be like a few dollars $$ at Walmart.. but since they became more popular they are just straight up scamming. Like $95?! girl WHAT?! I can’t stand it when brand are scamming🤦🏽♀️

It's such a shame because I buy ELF as my skincare and makeup. I'm 36 and love the budget and quality. But these calendars aren't worth it, you might as well create your own with their products.

i remember when i first bought makeup brushes from elf it was like 2017(?) and i got a 10 pack for like $11 (including tax and shipping) AND it was the wooden brushes that they don’t even make anymore EDIT: just confirmed through the wayback machine that in 2018, a 12 piece set of brushes cost $12 vs today a 17 piece set it $30+
😭😂😭😂 I'm watching Alexandria's ELF 2022 calendar on my cell and this years calendar on my tablet... The boxes are the exact same. Day 1 the exact same... sigh Day 2 the same Day 3 different (!) It's a lipstick - cherry color Day 4 SAME! Day 5... Same Day 6 shiny lipgloss , a pretty brownish color Day 7 yep... Another brush Day 8 something different - a putty blush. A blush pate Day 9 - the same And I quit. 😂😂
I wonder if someone at ELF went "We still have so many leftover 2022 calendars, how about we just relabel them as 2023?" Looking at some of the off-ness of the brow gel and that eyeshadow pallete, they seem like they've been sitting on the shelf for a while.

Some people cook the same meal every Christmas, some do the same activities every year, like picking out a tree as a family or making cookies. Elf puts the same items in their advent calendars. They’re creating a holiday tradition!

I wish they had made some exclusive shades or something for this. The elf lip stain in the berry shade is my GOAT holy grail color and i love it. i thought we were gonna get a nice deep red only for it to be spicy sienna which has been out for so long now
Elf should have put in a couple of new products that they've come out with in the last year. Like, maybe a mini of the Halo Glow Filter, or the Squeeze Lip Balm.
I’ve used the elf expert liquid liner before. I was on a work trip and I had forgotten my eyeliner, as well as my deodorant, at home. I was running out of time and went to the dollar tree to get both items. I recognized the brand, and thought it would be fine. It was not fine. It smeared on my face terribly and I looked like a raccoon by the end of the day 😂 I don’t recommend, even for $1.25.

The way your face just showed how miffed you were when you opened day 16 and it was those cheap little fake gem sticker things lol! Honestly, those are the most insulting to get in an advent calendar, becuase I just don't know how any kind of makeup company thinks that 'Oh, lets put these little gem stickies as a full day in our advent calendar, out customers surely wouldn't be upset about that!'
I LOVE how emotional you get when you find the same "junk" in these advent calendars. You are the best. Thank you for doing these so we don't spend our money on junk. We should probably take up a collection to help you get some of your money back for getting ripped off.
Fun idea, for the end of Advent Calendar season, I think you should keep score, for each calendar, and when all the calendars have been opened, you could do a best & worst of 2023. There could be other breakdowns, like luxury best & worse, “why do I keep doing this to myself?” top 5, best/worst food or candy, “How are they doing this, because it’s too amazing?!”, making a tier list of call the calendars your opened, etc… It could be fun, and help others pick their Advent Calendars to watch for next year. Everyone can get a recap of what calendars you opened, and if one was missed, that the person watching might have missed, they can go back and watch that video. I think it would be fun and wrap up this season, with a recap, that people can go to, or even next year’s you, to assess which calendars you want to not get, are must haves, and which calendars were ok, but could be better than what they were historically.
I had a silver one for this year but that's all about mad quick. Actually suspiciously quick because Black Friday sales came around and that's where I got mine last year at 45% off because I would not justify spending $100 for I think it was like $100 and something not very much more than $100. So they're marketing this as this year's calendar that is just downright DIRTY! 🤨

You should try the candle advent calendar from Lily Lous Aromas! Its a candle company run by the most amazing 10yr old as part of her home schooling, and ive only gotten 3 candles from her but theyve all been amazing. Im sure youd love her products
So I'm nosy and did a Google search for the Advent calendar, and according to the Google the 2023 E.L.F Advent calendar for 2023 isn't even available yet. My guess is that someone messed up and sold and shipped last year's calendars out and then pulled it off the website to try and cover the mistake. There is even a photo of the items you were supposed to relieve, and in the 2023 calendar you were supposed to get several items different than what Alex opened up in the video. Also there is going to be a 12 day calendar as well.
ELF makes so many decent, even really good products, they have had their best profits ever the last 2 years. There is no excuse for this crap. I spent like forty dollars on the website and I feel I got better stuff for that than you did for the ninety. Thanks for sharing, you look gorgeous as always.
I love the elf liquid eyeliner! Its been my go-to since middle school because it is really easy to get really sharp, but the formula is really inconsistent. For best results, wait two years and let it dry out a little bit though lol.
I feel like if I was gifted this calendar for the first time, without knowing the price, I would think its a great calendar, because I feel like I could get use out of most of the items. But I totally would not spend $95 for it. Its sad because ELF has A LOT of amazing products at affordable prices, they can totally switch out various items yearly. But the calendar should totally be $40-$50 max.
That eyeshadow palette is *100%* the same one from previous years. Like literally, same production run, has been sitting in a warehouse since 2020 same. And the actual, full, CSI-could-use-it-to-solve-a-murder fingerprint is concerning, to say the least...😳

Looks like Elf messed up big time with the early sales of the 2023 Advent calendar because on their website today, they have a completely different 2023 calendar (which is only 12 days apparently) for purchase than the one they gave you!
I highly doubt the price is supposed to be $95. A lot of companies list them high like this for sale and people buy them anyway but then it goes on sale for around half off for Black Friday and I’m sure that’s what happened with this elf one lol
I have been loving your advent calendar series. I was searching online for something, one of your videos popped up and I was hooked. I now live in Brasil and we do not have advent calendars here. Sigh. Anyway, I have to admit that when I first saw an Elf one, I was thinking about the movie Elf. I was confused when you opened the first box but then laughed at myself. Happy New Year!!!
This really is insulting. Especially after seeing the P. Louise calendar yesterday. I know this one is cheaper, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put a little design effort into it and stack it with some nice colourful things. After all, it’s $95.-! That’s faaaaaar from cheap. I’m sure Dollar Tree would make a much nicer calendar if they ventured into that market.

Please keep buying the Elf, Sephora, etc. calendars even if they are the same! Seeing it come up year after year helps me and so many others NOT buy them. You buy it but it saves countless others from getting the same junk. We appreciate your service!
I understand that they need to make sure all these products meet all different shades(both with hair and skin colors) but why can't they do more eye shadow pallettes(maybe as a couple of minis), a pressed blush, a mid tone bronzer, highlighter, translucent setting powder, etc. Also I acknowledge they want to leave the 1 large eye shadow pallette as the "big gift" but they gave the eye shadow brush very early on and no eye shadow pallette for 3 more weeks. It makes no sense.
What a waste. If I were a company I'd put products that will be released soon, their most popular items, etc to get people excited about what's upcoming. Instead, it's junk.

For lash growth I use Actsyl-L lash growth and I think it works really well they also have a serum from hair growth and to reduce shedding that has worked really well for me especially for shedding
That buffing foundation brush is my favorite to blend in foundation I use it everyday! And I love the heart lip shines. Other than those 2, everything else in this box would be letdowns for me.. 🥴 $100? Absolutely not.
The O Face lipstick is the line of lipsticks, not the shade lol. I think they’re like $8 because of the more “luxurious” packaging but honestly the name is so cringe imo. But the mascara is yet another dupe of elf’s 🙄 they’re literally so shameless about duping viral products it’s one of the reasons I refuse to buy from them. They may be cheap but it’s not like they’re the only affordable brand sold near me
