I feel the most brutal advice I took from this is: to always take your audience into consideration when making a video. I tend to make videos on how it makes me feel instead of thinking about how it is making the audience feel!

@@peacefulmorningaffirmationsDon't post anything for 3 months. After that post a series of at least 5 videos spaced out by a few days in the same niche
Nate Black has “boop the like button” nailed. Every time man. Generally, it’s already done when I start his video, but in the off chance I havnt I always do. That’s because he is a nice person, and if I can take a small action to help him in return for the value he has given me I will. Wow, might have just learned something
One day, all of us will make a video. A video that would change our channels forever. One that would give us millions of views and establish an audience. You just need to be patient and come up with a great idea.
Brutal and yet very funny😂. One thing that is hard for self-assured people to grasp about RU-vid is that because the platform is so saturated now it takes A LOT of hard work to stand out and create an audience. Much more than it did 10 or even 5 years ago. I'm not super viral but I have made great progress on my channel because of the advice here. Good job guys!
I absolutely love being a small creator. Being new to the world is exciting. Theres so much room for expermentation to find your style and all. After hitting 500 subs and beyond, there are so many ways my life improved. Good luck to all new creators. Don't give up
People give up cause they waiting to blow up. SOO much pleasure in the beginning stages. You know that feeling when you are on a plane to your vacation destination. Excited to explore and experience. It's like that.
I’m 63 subs away from 1,000. I always hear the first 1,000 is the most difficult. I have had my channel for 16 years mostly just posting randomly. The last couple years I have been producing more focused content, and it’s gaining traction. Good luck out there guys and gals
Im 81 subs away from 1,000 Problem is i have been doing yt for so long i have tried a lot of different niches gaming and a lot of other stuff but after like 4 years i think i have found a proper niche which i can actually grow in
I see your comments every now and then, i think if you really want to do motivational content you NEED to use your real voice as emotional messages just kind of get watered down when voiced by an AI or text to speech. Good luck man
@@BestMotivationChannel1 Your channel will probably continue to get 2-3 views every short then, no matter how much you upload. You gotta upload quality content to get the views, but good luck dude
If youtube wants to give my videos a fair chance, then why do some of my shorts have under 5-10 views and no impressions(the views are all my subscribers). Also I got a video with 78% viewed, 180%+ AVD, and it only got 10,000 views before stopping. Isn't 70-80% viewed and over 100% AVD enough to go viral? As for my long form videos, I've got nothing to complain about except my own skills lacking.
I fully agree with the bulk call to action, once I stopped asking for subs more people started watching and subscribing. Be humble, ask a question, maybe you already know the answer, but it creates interaction with your audience. The best thing you can do is present them with a video recommendation at the end, if they watched that far give them something similar to watch. Don't just set the end to youtube recommendation, choose something and verbally tell them it's something they will enjoy.
People don’t understand that you shouldn’t do RU-vid if you don’t enjoy making videos. If your only goal is to make money or become famous, it’ll most likely never happen. If your only goal is to create fun content for yourself and your friends, then even if you never get a single dollar or follower, you’ll never regret making videos.
Great comment. That's exactly how I run my mini channel. As long as I enjoy what I've produced and get even a single comment to say someone has liked it too it's worth it. I guess it depends what you are trying to achieve. I rather produce than consume.
Smooth. Great brutal truths also :D It was a hard truth for me to finally accept that our RU-vid genre is sooo saturated. We just keep grinding and hoping to bust out any day now. Lol If nothing else, we have great video storage for all of our travel memories🤩
RU-vid is hard work, requires a lot of brain work, and takes time you likely don't have or don't want to spend. You may end up throwing 8 hours a day at your channel for little to no results for years. This happened to me, however the hard work paid off eventually and resulted in channel growth and income. The truth is there's two types of people in the world: people who try hard and do their best, and people who don't. Even people who try hard and do their best will struggle on RU-vid. Those people may struggle more actually because they are used to the format of work hard and get good results. It may be hard for those type of people to work hard and not get the good results. If that's you just focus on providing value to your audience. Whether that's entertainment if you are very entertaining or it's providing information people need in a format that is easy to digest. OK carry on soldiers. And don't be afraid to change your video title and thumbnail if they don't perform.
Thanks for the most honest comment man, I only started to grow more the past 3 months since Iv spent more time actually hammering down on things. But you are right, so far it’s taken alot of time for me, but I’m growing now none the less. Slowly but surly. I just think everything takes time, what’s the point in planting a seed? And it growing over night. Fast success builds ego, slow success builds character. I love that saying. And it’s so true ❤🙏
Just be careful of getting copyright strikes because account will be restricted for 90 days and every single new video you make will get very limited views.
Just be open minded and willing to learn from anything and anyone, not just from RU-vid. I always look at daily life, in general, and use anything I see or hear and reinvest any learning moments into my career as a video content creator.
My biggest challenge I think is: The type of content I create is results based. What do I mean? I scratch lottery tickets. If I don't win on a scratch ticket, it feels like an automatic failed videos before i even get started. I have over 3600 subscribers but I only have 1200 watch hours. My shorts do very well sometimes. Should I separate my videos. (Shorts/Longform) Should I have a channel just for shorts and a separate channel just for Longform Videos?
they have another video talking about this actually, according to them, the algorithm doesnt discriminate, the whole goal of it is to entertain the viewer
@@masterjskingdom Come on is common sense right, why would they wanna help random small creator when the big creator are here to stay, and they are going to help small creator only when they need a new one.
It depends, both crunchy and smooth are fine as long as it’s 100% peanuts. But in all seriousness, how do you know if your thumbnail is bad when your video isn’t shown to people? It also might be the topic that people just don’t care about. It’s hard as a starting RU-vidr to know what you are doing right and wrong when you hardly get any views
Honestly I'm glad a lot of people like my content and or watch it. It's the finding them and or them finding me that is tricky. I just recently hit 800 subscriber's in under a year. Watch hours are the nightmare for me. I didn't make long videos before for long form content b until I made a poll asking if people were ok with longer videos. My subscribers were ok with that, and i realized my worst mistake was not making long form stuff before... Sorry for the novel. Anyway, I'm glad people watcg a lot of what i post and i hope i can make better stuff soon. I do ask for subscribes a lot, and i hope it helps.
I started a new RU-vid channel and i am loving what i do and yes its not easy and i do have help from others who are better at certain things and make it work.. If you are passionate about something and you go for it you will succeed 1000 times over..
if you guys don't believe in "shadow banning" or similar, explain this, there is a channel that has taken several videos of mine and downloaded them so they went from the original 4K video to 1440, they then re-uploaded it and within a month the video has 68K views, the original video has just over 1k views on 7 months. of the 26 videos on this channel, 19 are mine and I am pretty sure the other 7 are taken from somebody else's account. it's a similar story with the rest of this channel's content, I'm trying to get the videos removed but because they mirrored the video before re-uploading RU-vid's Automated system does not pick up that the content is stolen. Plus all my videos get demonetised as they are uploading but the content contains the same sort of material that is all over the platform without any restrictions, I'm writing this from my other channel because I am currently on a week's suspension for a strike and this time I was actually given a screen grab and timestamp and there is nothing out of the ordinary at that time in the video. You say RU-vid doesn't know who I am, I wish that was the case because somebody there has it in for me and they have Mary Whitehouse checking my content while other channels have Russell Brand giving their videos the once over.
Well guys, when beginner youtubers speak about shadowban they mean SHORTS. Because usually we get a spike of impressions/views after around 6 to 12 hours after the initial upload. And it happens for EVERY short but all of a sudden youtube stops doing that and you get 5 views total. It continues to happen for next # of shorts. I do know a lot of beginners who faced that.
That impression spike is so real. After like 5 hours my video or short gets a HUGE spike. If that doesn't happen the video only gets a few hundred views max. I have heard that this becomes more consistent as your channel grows.
I know it's hard for a newbie creators, including myself too. A lot of challenges, struggles, and tears also. But, don't be worry as long you're keep being consistent, patient, and enjoying your work, nothing is impossible. I'm still on my way 336 subscribers, and hopefully still going strong. Don't give up everyone & keep enjoying being a Content Creator 💪
That’s so true people don’t care until they know you, but this is normal. I mean they have to trust you and believe that you’re real and honest. It’s so much work and sometimes even your platform is not always right. I tested it many times with thumbnail and title but no results. For beginners is actually not bad but it still need to be improved! I learned a lot from you guys 🙏🏼♥️☮️
I’ve been doing this for 3 months now and loving the journey but unfortunately some of my best videos just don’t get as many views and that’s just how it is. Lucky I enjoy making cinematic vlogs or this would be really hard to stomach ❤
@@Justcallmemike25 thanks so much! just had a look at your channel. all that driving! I',m sure you see some of the coolest most cinematic locations on your travels!
@@NoHomage yea I see a lot of cool stuff. But it’s all through the windshield. Wish I had time to enjoy it more. It’s more like see it, take a note of it, and hope I can get back and see it for real one day lol.
Funny enough everything Iv learnt from you guys are slowly growing my channel. I yet to have the “break through video” but I know I need to work for that. Have a lot planned and up my sleeves. But in regards to growth? I’m growing a lot quicker than I ever have. And my videos are finally doing well, I have the odd one that doesn’t, but it’s all about learning what works well and what doesn’t. So thank you for the knowledge 😊
I know of one video about the Ten Commandments that was RESTRICTED as being unsuitable for young people. Straight out of the Bible. But even after appeal, the YT police said it did not meet their "guidelines" so maintained the restriction. Eye roll.
I'm so allergic to peanut butter _:D but, I can say my mistake in my previous channel, was: I was so focused on what is NOT on youtube, and I was trying to make that, that I have totally forgot what I like and why I've made that channel that I got just exuhsted.
I hit my first bump in the road with my channel (of many I'm sure) but I managed an upload last week and I'm energised and cooking up my next idea. Gone back to basics and I'm determined to try and make my next upload the best one yet :) To anyone in the dip that I was in the last few weeks, just do what you need to do. Whether that's continuing on, taking a break or going back to basics, you've got this! :)
Your advise is absolute truth, my videos aren't that great yet, but the are better than when i started. It's a learning process and there is a lot to learn.
@@Spacemarine658 yes they should change it to that you tube doesn't shadow ban, but they do restrict you, with limited impression to 0, lots more evidence around that topic.
@@Spacemarine658 there is also another apparent issue with current subscribers and the way the algorithm tests content with them, tanking most of your videos before they even get a chance out in the wild, gathering evidence currently, just got to get past the wall of AI chat bots at you tube support.
interesting video guys - I recently started using the tools and have seen big changes in visitors - daily ideas can help, and currently using the optimise function to revisit old stuff to revamp things, especially the thumbnails. The "scores" generated for each is very useful and once changes are made, clicking publish to update the channel is so helpful
It is widely recognized that RU-vid's primary goal is to serve its viewers. The platform's algorithm prioritizes content that attracts a significant audience, resulting in increased impressions and exposure to a broader demographic. While content creators provide the videos, it is ultimately the viewers who generate revenue through their engagement and interactions with the content and the advertisers. Peanut butter: smooth/creamy. (Watch the entire video.) ♥️😎👍
Having gone from 14 to 299 subs in 3 months, doing almost everything *wrong* (my banner pic was 2 hotdogs … and still is), almost no keywords in my descriptions (and bare bones descriptions at that) and still getting at least 100+ views on my worst vids, and closer to 4-5k on my best ones, I can confirm that content, thumbnail and title is the *only* thing needed start growing. Doing all that other stuff would probably make things grow *faster*, but it’s still growth with almost no «proper» youtubing ;) Next three months will be interesting though, adding some flair and intro-sauce to see if things grow even faster ;)
Like anything else in life, it’s about consistency and improvement. When you get a new job, you don’t know anything about it. But when you show up to work everyday and learn more, you getter better at your job. The same rules apply to RU-vid. The same rules apply to life in general .
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter? This may be an unpopular opinion, lol, but I like both. It depends on my mood. Or if I'm making cookies. Though I don't have a baking channel, but a sewing channel, I sometimes insert baking montages.
My biggest issue is getting so involved in the content I forget a call for action 😂 I think people forget the algorithm is trying to find your audience and it takes time. The buy product is it drives your retention and CTR down when first getting started. This is my second channel, after 3 weeks I have 8k views 👍🏼and 68 subscribers 👎🏼. Its a process
I started making my videos out of curiosity... The amount of tools out there are unbelievable and I can't wait to try as soon as I find them! Of course I would love to be monetized, most of us would innit?, for something that I love to do and for the kind of content I make, being one of the subjects I'm interested in the most. It's so great to watch, learn and put in practice some of the advice you give. Thank you for sharing with us!
I just got monetised and VIDIQ ive been following you and listening to advice from you guys! I had 500 subscribers about a month ago when i joined your livechat and a month later i now have 1090 subscribers and i just got monetised today so thank you very much!
@@FactualFunFactory The real work starts now, its important to do good videos. I reckon when you get to 100 your stunned and it motivates you. i was shocked my subscribers just kept going up! Keep going....
I had a strange thing happen. I dropped a video Friday night, it was at about 100 views within a hour, I went to bed after reading the comments on the video and responding to them. Also had 156% click through rate and high view duration. I woke up the next morning and my views were deleted. No, I never ever, ever buy views (would be a waste of money and wouldn’t do anything for me anyway). The comments were legit with most being returning viewers so I have no idea what happened. My other channel pops off though yet this one has been struggling since February. 🤷♂️
Loving the connection and the experiences you give that I can relate as a content creator. Keep up the good work, you'll get there with hard work, effort, consistency and time!
Thanks for the amazing advice! Would you ever do a video on if it's smart to do longform and shorts on the same channel or if you should make 2 different channels 1 for shorts and 1 for longform content
Your content isn't bad. Many successful RU-vid creators may not have experienced what you are going through. while they cant understand what you are going though they are not wrong about shadow bans, it doesn't really exist. What you're experiencing is quite common. Platforms like RU-vid tend to provide extra exposure during the first month or two to encourage creators to engage more deeply. After that initial boost, it's typical for impressions and views to drop significantly, leading to feelings of frustration as if someone is working against you. However, this is just the platform's way of keeping you motivated to continue creating content and not leaving after the first uploads. The good news is that if you received positive feedback early on, it means you just need to keep pushing for a longer period to reach your goals, as RU-vid won't offer those extra impressions any longer than that.
From a viewer's perspective. About thumbnails and titles. I will not click on one that looks spammy. Example showing horrific unbelievable over-the-top weather scenes. Really!? If it doesn't look authentic and too wild to be believed then I bypass it. The other is when I find out after clicking on the video that nothing in the title pertains to the content in the video I'll thumb down it. The third is when some random channel with a vague name shows videos that I know I have seen somewhere else.
I uploaded a video that I got feedback on that it was decent.. thumbnail was decent etc.. after a week it had 42 impressions with a 5.6% CTR.. After 2 weeks it had 200 impressions.. Why would a video get so low impressions but have a half decent ctr?
I think its because they don't know who tho share the video with it happend to me alot i have made a 1/10 video and still not much views the more video's you make the better
@@Tblegocreator that makes sense.. considering it used to be a gaming channel until I pivoted in February.. my old audience is dropping off and because they aren’t watching my new stuff it’s probably hurting
As I Completely Noticed It's Not Easy To Build Your Own Channel, Is Hard But will be Worth it in the long run to everyone do not give up and Keep Pushing 💪🏾 because it gets better time from time.
This is the first time tuning in to watch this duo on VidIQ. Love them! !Great advice and love their positivity and smiles. Just what I needed to watch whilst having a coffee. Thanks for the tips, folks....And by the way.....Definitely CRUNCHY peanut butter is the best! :))
My story on RU-vid is sad story😢 becouse lcreated channel 2024 two months ago and i uploaded 60.videos every video is views 10 i dismoral my channel because not grow what problem what can ido ? Thanks again
I agree that spending time on a thumbnail is important, but I haven't come across any data showing whether a thumbnail is the main reason why someone decides to click on or skip a video.
"Are you making videos for RU-vid hoping an audience will be provided or do you make videos for an audience that can then find you via RU-vid?" Thats my take away from this.
People saying you keep talking about the same stuff over and over again, which is true, forget that there are always new viewers who haven't heard that information yet. If you have you are not supposed to keep watching the same advice over and over again... maybe it's a sign you are not getting it.
You have to be very passionate about what you’re doing on RU-vid or you won’t make it. I make sneaker videos and it’s a grind but I love sneakers & making videos. Without the passion you will burn out over time so do what your passionate about & Rock on 🤘
She looks so blissfully stoned and I'm all here for it, her energy is so light and great lol keep it up guys, I'll take all your advice if no one else wants it!
Truth is the truth. Repeating yourself? Well, I have seen many cat videos getting millions of views in a short time, tbh, yes, the cats are repeating their daily lifes. Facts.
I'm glad to know shadow banning is not something to worry about on here at least. That Ai thumbnail tip I might give a try. Also, the advice helps a lot so thank you for making these videos! ~*yes*~ c:
So, the only call to action I make any more is at the end of my videos. I ask the audience to watch the next video coming up (I point to it) and let me know what they think of it in the comments below.
One Of My Problems Is I Make Videos That I Would Like. With My Recent Live Streams Iv'e Been Getting Veiwers Witch Never Happened At First. I Play The Games That My Viewers Want, I Even Play With Them. These Last 3 Streams Have Been Over The Top For My Small Channel. I Really Have To Thank This Video For Helping Understand This Mistake. :)
I think the main point of this video is to always take your viewer in to account. Think if you saw your video with your thumbnail would you click it? You cant get an audience out of nothing.
I appreciate when creators remind me to like. Sometimes I’m so compelled by the content, I forget to like. I wish RU-vid made it easier to like. Most people don’t click the like no matter how good the video is🤷🏽♂️
@@prettytopia Mostly, yes. the video made very clear that we should not bother asking people to like and subscribe so I'm considering cutting that from my videos. I respect their perspective and I'm here to learn. To be honest, yes, I proactively like most of the videos I watch to support the community of creators. Unless the video was a disaster, until very recently, I did my best to click the like button. Yes, every time. I recently noticed that my analytics kept track of my liked videos which are now over 4000 so I thought, maybe I should start being a bit more discerning and only like those I REALLY like. You'll notice on my VERY new video series, I try to spread love and light, but I'm finding that the negativity sells at a much faster rate. Still, I'm sticking to the love.
Thumbnails are HARD. I thought I did really well on my last one but even after 100 videos I still don't get it. I might need to seriously outsource this.
I checked out your channel. Send me some photos and what the video is about. I will make a few for you to review and use. No charge - I don't do thumbnails for a living. You can contact me by email using the link in the Creative Cooking channel description.
I have been watching these "how to" and "what not to do" videos to try and grow my Travel Channel. This video got me to click again, but it definitly is the same as the rest of their content. I guess it works to be repetitive.
LIES LIES LIES, i have created so many videos in the past where people loved and my audience retention, click through rate have been really good, got a lot of engagements and positive response and still youtube does not promote any of my videos that performed well, I m doing youtube for 7 years, created multiple channels, thousands of videos and many of them got great response, you're telling me none of them worked or went viral because my videos were bad ?
I have a video that got 5k views but I recognize it’s still a pretty bad video in terms of editing quality. Just because a certain group of people who are really passionate about the subject you are talking about watch your video does not mean that it’s a “good video”. Gotta have a growth mindset and ask, “what can I do to improve.” Rather than just saying it’s lies because your content is decent but gets little views
Just a quick point: sometimes videos can be flagged as unsuitable for all and vanish under Restricted Mode. I guess most adults run with RM off as it seems to be for borderline NSFW like bikinis or zombies, for example. But they don't tell you this. Weird thing is my most viewed vids vanish with RM on so I dont know how big a deal it is unless, like I say, it's a kid account or maybe a work-related restriction.
Videos do get restricted if YT system flags them even if they are SFW. For some reason it's not being addressed by VidIQ or others, but it's a thing. I'd normally get the same amount of views, but when restricted I get no reach whatsoever.
@@ArtBurbs now that's interesting. I have 14 videos IIRC and about 8 don't show up in Restricted Mode. Ironically they're probably the most viewed of all my videos... Maybe it's a niche thing? I do trailers for fake 1980s horror/sci-fi movies so maybe the people who like that stuff fall into an audience segment where it doesn't matter.
@@NevermadeMovies When GTA 6 trailer dropped I made a drawing short and that got restricted, perhaps due to bikini bottom. Definitely YT algo is sensitive about anything even remotely close to NSFW, especially when it comes to not establish small channels.
@@ArtBurbs as somebody with young kids in the house I can understand ensuring they don't see content that's not suitable (although it's quite shocking some of the stuff that passes as kid-friendly when it's clearly not) but my annoyance is they don't indicate it's being censored unless you go look. Age Restricted content shows up as such, so why not this?
As soon as they said there was no shadowbanning on RU-vid, I stopped the video. There is shadowbanning. How else do you explain going from thousands of impressions a day to 40 or 50, literally overnight, and on the SAME DAY, RU-vid says they are taking away your access to enhanced features? No rulebreaking necessary, just RU-vid being RU-vid.
yes they should change it to that you tube doesn't shadow ban, but they do restrict you, with limited impression to 0, lots more evidence around that topic. yes my channel is on life support at the moment due heavy restriction, but interestingly, if i don't notify subscribers i do get more impressions and views overall, even tho it's very similar content which they subscribe for ?.
@@HobbyFarmersAustralia be more patient, just keep uploading and later on when recent videos will get views again the others will too. that only applies when your content is actually good and spread to somewhat the right audience (hashtags help with that)
