Right there, as someone that used to play super strats for years but then switched to Vs and never looked back... until a tried an X for the first time (Jackson Kelly Star) and found it to be the best of both worlds. Still love my fleet of Jackson Vs though.
This might be my favorite video of yours. I can relate to your sense of humor and I love the dry delivery. As always fantastic playing. Keep doing what you’re doing and I believe you have a bright future ahead so enjoy star gazing while you still can, before you begin to shine so bright you cause light pollution.
Before I watched this video, I did NOT have a kink for being pinned down with a Flying V. After watching this video it's all I can think about. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE KAYLA?!
I have a MIJ DK2, one of the new US Virtuosos, the WR7, and the JS32 King V. Honestly the JS32 line is no joke, they’re an absolute steal at that price point.
Man I never thought I would like the Kramer Nite V but that guitar looks sick I was always a V fan I still regret selling my Dean V I might try to get a Kramer Nite V this summer after I pay off some bills from Aarons
I’ve got a Jackson Scott Ian V hard tail. Really solid guitar sounds wicked but I agree I’m a little uncomfortable playing sat down and playing standing up means I’m always paranoid of chipping the edges
1:59 how I normally set up a “shred”/metal guitar is with one of those clip lock straps that gets rid of the button and is screwed directly into the guitar. So personally, I don’t think this is much of an issue, but if you’re reading this and are looking for a solution around that strap button, hopefully this comment helps.
I don’t like guitar reviews, I just like flying vs so I watched this. Good video, more Vs, just a video of Vs being played. I don’t care if you play it bad on purpose, I don’t care what kinda songs are played on it, I just wanna see more flying Vs in action. I set my Flying V on the couch, turned on the Solo demos of the video on loop and let it watch like an occupied child while I do the dishes. If I didn’t, it’d squeal at me to play it again. It’s the only guitar shape that deserves that love. I guess Fender Mustangs can have the leftover love. Flying V collection showcase, Flying V live demo, Drawing a Flying V on paper with crayons, I don’t care. Just give me more Vs. thank you, good video
KAYLAAAA!!!! POWER METALLLLLL!!! That was super-dafically baddass, why is no one else playing this tune way-underheard tune, the whole album is awesome, but I can no one ever talks about it? Thanks for playing one of my favorite Pantera deepcuts
I used to have an old Dean flying V that played beautifully. I ended up selling it to a jazz player who came to buy an old tube amp I had for sale. He didn't bring a guitar with him to test the amp so I handed him the V and he loooved it. He ended up buying both!
If I recall correctly, your dad encouraged your playing. I owe the man a porterhouse steak if I ever meet him. Where I'm incredulous is the Johnson amp. I'll take your word for it if that's really your rig, but I've never gotten that response out of one.
I've been wanting to get myself a v but I'm not the best so can't warrant an expensive one. This is the video I've been looking for to get an idea of what to look for.
I wasn't into V's until I saw Blake Ibanez from Fugitive and Power Trip absolutely ripping on one and now I'm questioning whether i still want an explorer or a V more haha. Also love the Wii music in the background lol
My girl is playing a Johnson millennium. I forgot how awesome these Sams are. We sold them at a store. I worked at Bryn Mawr. PA called medley music. I believe I was at the NAMM show when they came out.
Kramer had another signature Flying V just a couple years ago that was really sweet, but it seems to have disappeared? They had it in a killer Red too!
First time seeing your channel. You have an awesome personality and you made me laugh really hard. You play really well too. I'm an old foggie and Blues player. I love the look of all V shaped guitars, but for the life of me I could never get comfortable playing one. It sucks being old. LOL Cheers and thanks for the review
Sick video🤘I mainly play a solar v and the input jack is in a really good spot for sitting. The only issue that it has is that the strap button digs into my leg. Seems like you either have a problem with the jack or the strap button nowadays lol.
Id be taking a drill n chisels to that kramers input to recess it thoroughly... but i like to piss about with geetars :) The playing as always is spot on lass... and curses for nailing the domination solo so well, never been able to nail the big stretch run from the 12th fret always ended up playing open because im a wuss... ;) crackin vid as always :)
I only recently discovered you. Have you tested Harley Benton? I bought one of their 12 strings and it was a great acoustic. Was just curious if the electrics are as good a value as you can find their Vs as low as like $130 ( shipping is a bit since they come from the UK)
"And a strap hook. Right where your MOTHER FUCKING LEG goes." And you said it so nonchalantly. I cracked up. NO ONE likes guitarists with talent anymore. EVERYONE loves guitarists who are hilarious. I like both, so I'm subscribing. Thanks, RU-vid Algorithm! THIS is dat GOOD shit I like! 🤘
Okay, I got up to the 6:00 minute mark, and ... then I realized everyone else commented on it as well. Y'ALL BUNCH OF LECHEROUS PRE-VERTZ. lmao ... not, it was good wholesome clean fun. I laughed. Everyone laughed. Seriously, though, you slay these riffs. Love the corgi bracelet bit. Fucking metal as fuck.
i read this comment before getting to that part of the video and thought you were talking about the song by korn although that would have been just as jarring
Ahahahaha, the old "can't play standing up" bit. 💀💀 I have always wondered why companies put stuff in that curve of the V, it defeats the whole purpose (besides, uh, being "V-shaped").
Not a fan of the old “taint” jack or strap buttons. Dunlop flush mount strap locks should be on every V shaped guitar I had a Dean Dave Mustaine V that had them.
I bought a Kramer Disciple bass last month on a whim at my local music store. Looks, sounds, and plays amazingly well. The only real basis I had for Kramer quality vs budget came from this channel, and I'm super happy with it. Purple sparkly finish, ebony board, and a Duncan pickup for super cheap.
I use a couple of flying V's, both of which are among my favorite guitars to use. I think it's not really so much a comfort thing (although one of my V's feels really good up high compared to the other) but, let's face it, it just screams rock n roll all over it. Which reminds me, I need to take them out for a spin!
Thanks Kayla for the shredding! I was feeling kind meh but this review and jaming made my Day😊 Hilarious as well!😂 "Daddy?" LMFAO!!! Cheers 🍻 🛸 UFO's, Ace Ventura. Plus now Im browsing Zzounds looking at that Jackson.
WAIT! When you brought up the Ace Ventura “You gun is digging into my hip” thing, I just noticed what was actually digging into his hip… (For those of you who watched Ace Ventura, you know what happens) How’d it take me so long to notice?
Jackson for me the Floyd Rose Deep cut to allow double action. Plus The location of the jack... The strap button is more easily relocated... & I like the Fret Board better on the Jackson...Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
