90s comedians approached comedy so seriously and that's why it was so good! Like the early Simpsons, all jokes went through like 20 revisions by 20 Harvard graduates in that show. And it still shows!
There are two types of people in the world, people who laugh their ass off when watching Seinfeld and those who were unfortunately born with no sense of humor.
His explanation of how comedic minds work is so accurate. I only do it for fun, but I will think about, edit, analyze, rephrase, change words for MONTHS on a two line joke.
I love the way that good comedians fine tune their jokes. There is so much more nuance to comedy that there is to drama. Timing, inflection, phrasing, facial expression all need to be just right for a joke to really work.
Cranston was in one of the most memorable and outstanding sitcoms of its time (Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle). Fast forward and he was also in one of the best drama series of its time (Breaking Bad). I'd imagine the next genre for him to tackle would be the Horror genre.
No way. He didn't steal any scenes on Seinfeld, but it's silly how everything has to be competitive. He's a very good actor, but there are many good actors out there.
I hate these type of interviewer questions where they know the answer already: “Is there a script?” He knows damn well there’s no script, everyone by now knows there’s no script on CYE!
Depends who’s been interviewed. Jeff has said on a few interviews that there’s a script and explains the process. Maybe the process Bryan describes here, is used for certain characters who aren’t a major role, more a bit part on occasional episodes.
@@Kaddywompous Well yeah, I have watched all seasons multiple times. But if someone didn’t get into the first few seasons of curb, they should give it another try with season 10, because it is a brilliant season, one of the best in comedy. It can stand alone as well, I think. Maybe that will win someone over if they previously ditched the show after a few very old episodes.
When Tim Whatley first expresses his displeasure at Jerry's quip about sadists with newer magazines you can see for the first time some of the menace of Heisenberg. It's brilliant! 3:05 in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u8QMIYv-y98.html
@K Maxx ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ne_ucyzLK6E.html . You didn't even bother checking before you commented did you. Listen closely amigo, who's the idiot now? I'll accept your apology.
Use to listen to Patrick early on. Not so much anymore. Can't stand the Danetts, his gushing on about Russell Wilson, his constant use of "my source tells me that", and his lovefest interviews with hollywood celebrities, which is nauseating at best. TALK RADIO, smfh
Disagreed. He's a combo of dad jokes, childish humor and wit. A little dated? Sure. Not everyone's cup of tea? Yeah. Funny? Obviously. Numbers don't lie. Dude is one of (if not) the GOAT's for a reason and a major reason is his stand up.
@@LukeNeumann he's not funny. he was a bad comic, got swept up in the let's make sitcoms with comedians craze, and found his place as a comic actor and writer. He's like Tim Allen, except Allen's stand-up wasn't as bad.
His stand up is his unique voice. I never lost my shit on a Seinfeld stand-up joke but I do find myself thinking about his bits for a long time. But I think the success of the show is largely because of how brilliant Larry David is.
@@scottstewart5784 I get it. He certainly comes off as condescending, elitist, and patronizing. but he's also kind of honest and blunt. His attitude is I don't mind people holding doors open for me and kissing my ass because I've earned it. And he did have the number one show on television for a good time. Can't argue with success
In reality Jerry is just some unfunny Jew that he took along for the ride because you got to keep the money in Judean fam. Tell me I'm wrong think about the beginning of every Seinfeld episode and tell me if his stand-up comedy made you laugh once
Lol if you pay attention to the stand up in the beginning they used a laugh track multiple times, but I think the casting, and writing made that show funny , also Cameos by unknown actors
Honestly, I can’t figure out what it is about Seinfeld that people find funny. Maybe it’s because the characters are like some people I know/work with and in real life and those people are NOT funny.
Comedy has not only a purpose of being funny. With comedy you reveal things that are kind of tabu normally. Also you can set certain social norms. It is more complicated that just few laughs. That is what the genius of Larry and Jerry is. They influenced the society in so many ways we can not even imagine.
