He's not in HIS kitchen, he's in the crew shack on the rig location, about 75 yards away from the rig on which he works, away from his family, before or after a 12 hour day. How he's presenting himself is what every Roughneck is familiar with after 12 hours day or night in whatever weather nature decides on. His attire is only about comfort not what you deem acceptable. That is his home away from home shared with at least 9 other guys for 7, 14 or 21 days straight. The fact that he is taking time away from when he could be sleeping or eating to perform a song obviously dedicated to loved ones speaks volumes and encompasses how we all feel when we're on hitch. So please, no more left handed compliments from the peanut gallery. The fact that this had to be explained means precisely that you will never understand.
My husband works in the oilfield, he is a driller we have 7 kids that he works so hard to support. He always tells me one hitch at a time mama one hitch at a time. I love him for the wonderful hard working man he is, God bless all you oilfeid workers and may he keep you safe always.
We at rig 555 love this song man and feel your pain but it's a good pain. We choose this life that many can't handle, at the site or at home. GOD bless our RIGS and our FAMILIES and all OIL FIELD MEN !
I have never let another man bring tears down my face, but you sir are the first...your voice and the words...I do frac, and it gets my family through tough times...awesome job brotha, officially my favorite song
Everytime I hear this song it brings me tears to my eyes making me think of my family in Harlingen tx....been in new mexico well testing for 4yrs... n been home very lil at a time.... keep kicking ass singing them songs for us out here ! God bless you and ur family!
Love this song. The oilfield is not for everyone. Can't be compared to any other profession. We don't get to go home to our love ones every night some of us for weeks other for months. Stay safe out there my brothers. Be your brothers keeper.
months worth of loving in 14 days.... oilfield is the backbone of the country don't sit in your office with ac on high and try and even u understand this song you will never get it!!!
This is a great song I have been working the oilfields and recently started roughnecking and we work anywhere between 12 and 19 hour days depending on what needs done. It’s not a easy life so anyone that thinks they can handle it and thinks they have worked a hard job before need to realize that the roughneck life is one of the hardest jobs I have ever worked in my life when you get off work you can’t hardly hold your head up and your doing everything you can to keep your eyes open so it’s unbelievable that he stayed awake long enough to sing this song. Thank you for this song I listen to this song all the time and it keeps me motivated. I work everyday and I have worked for a month and get 4 days off. So if anyone thinks they can come be a roughneck and have a set schedule your wrong you never know what’s going to happen you might work two months without a day off. It’s a lifestyle not just a job. If you don’t love oil and want your life to be about oil then it’s the wrong business. You have to work your ass into the dirt or the job isn’t right for you. You make good money on the oilfields but you never know when you’ll get off to see your family so you can’t really make plans for days off cause you might not get any
I'm not in the oil biz I'm a builder traveling 2 weeks out one weekend home this song hits home for a lot of us guys working on the road to take care of our families thanks
Mr. Martin I want you to know that your songs get me through several hitches. My husband and I connect through your music and when he’s gone and I can hear it, it feels like a piece of him is here. I thank you for that. Immensely
Country music has always been about life and telling the real story of most people and how they struggle and live and prove how extraordinary they are in just never giving up. This takes me there. Thank you 🙏
Awesome song. Not only are the roughnecks tough and strong so are their families. It's not an easy life always being gone but everyone knows and understands why. I love you bekahs for being there raising our family and working your job as well because I know that being a nurse ain't an easy job. I love you girl.
Bro thanks for that song just what i needed to hear right now. I been in the oil filed 8 years now and it never gets easier leaving your family and kids, god bless your awesome talent brother
I know how hard it is being away from home I do hich by hich 14 days straight it's definitely not the easiest to be away from your loved ones or your kids stay safe out there guys
Been doing one hitch at a time forever it seems. 23 years of me not in photos of family get togethers, Christmas, Thanksgivings, 4th of July, Birthdays, Kids performances. Roughnecks are tough as steel. It takes a tougher woman to stand by him to do what he does for his family.
