I'm a BS psychology student that is about to proceed to med school. We may lack some science subjects for medicine compared to other courses like bs bio, medtech, nursing etc. but learning about psychology helped me understand ourselves and the people around us. The course gave me the right attitude on what to strive for and showed me what career path I would take up that is in line with my personality. Also learning the different subjects of psychology showed me how it is related to health, people and medicine that could give you a different edge as you proceed to med school after.
@@falkerwyscray9067 if you don't have any plans to proceed med, there are a lot of job opportunities for psych students. For industrial setting you could get a job in the HR Department of any company and for educational setting you could apply for guidance conselor or school psychometrician (passing board exam needed) and many more.
Hi I’m a 1st yr med student in uerm. I’m also a graduate of bs psych from ust. Share ko lang na we don’t have to take any additional units to be accepted in uerm. Psychometrician boards, in general, isn’t a prerequisite for med. Regarding med life naman, I have to admit madaming topics ang maeencounter sa med na walang background ang mga psych majors, pero it really depends on the person if either gagawin mong motivation yon for studying or be too paranoid by the fact na madami kang di alam. As a psych major, hearing/learning new words almost every day is my typical day in med. Pero lets not forget na almost everyone starts from scratch in med school, its really how you handle the stressors thrown at you. And I guess, yun yung valuable lesson na nakuha ko sa psych.
@@wolf8033 Hi! Counted na sya as pre-med, pero in general any 4-yr course naman is already considered as a pre-med. Depende nalang sa school na aaplyan mo if need ng pre-requisite subjects before entering med!
@@kathithink3944 Depends! some people would opt for a gap year after college, just so they could take extra units in science courses. And some naman, if maluwag yung 4th yr of college mo, pwede mong isabay yung extra units na need mo on your last yr. Hope this helps :)
Theories of personality (T.O.P) and Abnormal Psychology (AB Psych) are the best! Di din maiwasan maging emotional sa mga stories sa mga client po dapat strong ka doon para sa kanila.
You guys represented our pre-med very well! Dito mabebreak ang misconception na psych is not an ideal pre-med because of how they see our course as soft science. Thank you for using MOST of my pictures in the vid, Doc. Kilig kilig ako hehe. Hanga ako kay kuya, first choice nya talaga ang psych. Habang ako, kahit gaano ko ka-mahal ang psych ngayon, di ko talaga sya first choice, but I know I made the right decision to have this as my pre-med. Itaas ang bandera nating mga psychometricians/psych students! Thank you for this vid, i've been waiting long for this. 💙❤
Hi, I just want to ask. How does someone become a psychologist here? I took BS Psychology as my premed but I want to become a medical doctor who specializes in Pedia. Since I've already taken this program, I decided to become a psychologist as well. My questions are: 1. How to become a psychologist? 2. Is it possible to become a psychologist and a pediatrician at the same time? 3. Can you still become a Psychologist even if you're degree is not BS Psychology? Cause I heard that you can still become a Psychologist by taking a master's degree even if your degree is not BS Psych.
@@apollotheodore2560 hello! Pwede ka naman maging Pedia and Psychologist at the same time. Psych as your pre med then take ka ng Psychometrician Licensure Exam and after med school, magresidency ka sa Pedia.
sobrang laking tulong nito for students like me who can't come up with a decision at laging urong sulong dahil sa mga what if's huhu this motivated me a lot.
I’m a first year student of BS Psychology and this video helps me in knowing more about my chosen course. I’m also planning this to be my pre med and soon become a psychiatrist. Padayon!
yehey! hi po ate aura, BS Psychology is fun especially when you are into talking to people and more important is an active listener/open mind. The most common misconception po talaga is "can u read minds", kasi di pa talaga na exposed ang psyc before but nowadays many people are more open talking about mental health it's so good that mental health has been recognize. Like the mental health law in the Philippines. Being a Psyc graduate you are more careful with your words because some words can bring pain to some. Along the way you will love Psychology because it bring you the nature of helping people those who are in need. Psychology graduate po ako at recently pass the boards for psychometrician (RPm).thank you for this video po dok! para ma enlight ang mga tao about Psychology.
Planning on shifting sa psych as my pre med. Accounting student ako rn and forced by my parents lang, pero they finally agreed na mag shift ako to something i actually want for myself. lmao wish me luck
God bless you. Keep fighting forward. Even this reply was late but I'm really hoping that you will survive no matter what. Just never, never give in... YOU CAN DO IT!
@rain drop omg hiii~ i am also a gr. 12 ABM student na interested talaga sa psych (just took ABM to spend these last 2 remaining years of hs para makasama ko pa friends ko lol crazy but i have no regrets -skl po xD). i hope your parents will be more understanding... and supportive. i know the feeling kase mukhang ayaw din ng papa ko na bs psychology kukunin ko sa college lol 🙄 whatever at least hindi against si mama sa desisyon ko. so yea, just wanna say na im rooting for you!! psych all the wayyyy pls~~
As a grade 12 student, planning to take BS psychology, this is so helpful po. Sobrang dami kong gustong i-take na course sa college but I think mag e-end ako as a psych student. I will be back on this channel saying 'I made it'! thank u for this Doc. Aura!
Hi! I’m a Psych grad, and now a 2nd year Med student. It’s hard, but dapat alam mo kung anong effort ang kailangan mong gawin. It’s given that more clinically-related premed programs have some edges in a specific aspects in Med, pero naaaral lahat. Maybe the best asset as a psych grad in med is accepting those realities, and again, quantifying the effort you need to give to reach the same footing as your classmates, or even becoming more.
this video eased my worries on taking psych as a premed course hahaha. tysm huhuhu i'm sure to watch this when i need to remind myself why i wanted to take psych 😭💖. salamat doktaura!
Hi doc! It would be also nice to have a video about people in the medical field who didn’t take the usual courses mentioned. To also be able to imply to aspiring physicians that being a doctor doesn’t have to be the usual but you can make something out of different degrees and programs hehe (just to put it out there for my friends who graduated from polsci, community development, history, economics who are doing well in med school) thank you!!
Yes please!!! Hehehee 😊😊😊 Pero sana arts student or someone who finished AB Course. Engineering and the likes kasi tbh di naman masyadong diff from med courses. In fact you guys have a lot of edge especially in nmat.
"parang yung personality ko for law" "yung course na pwede ring pre-med pwede ring pre-law" I'm very torn what strand to choose kasi ate in vid and I both have the same reason hahaha. If I'm really going to pursue med school I should choose STEM and if law school HUMMS para mas fit, i think? The problem is im still undecided which one to take haha kaya I'd like to choose a pre-course where I can still both go to law and med school, whatever i may choose in the future. May He lead me to to where i should belong ❤ thank you po for sharing!
am currently a junior psychology student and hopefully a MD in the future. The interview is very insightful- thank you po Doc Aura. Rooting for all my kaPsychies, we will make it there in God's time
Thank you so much!! As an incoming college freshie, this was so helpful and really helped me reflect more on me and why I chose BS Psych as my course for my pre-med :)
Hi! I just wanna share my story po ( not sure if super interesting siya🤣) anw, in my case po, Eversince, Civil Engineer na talaga yung gusto ko. Until before ako grumaduate ng High school, I look up to schools na may not so expensive tuition fees offering engineering programs. Nandun po kasi kami sa may medyo saktong lang na pamumuhay and I'm living sa province. Then yung friend ko sabi niya Take kami ng UPCAT (sa UPLB ) and pag nasa top 10 ka ng school niyo (during my time, not sure if hanggang ngayon) wala kang exam fee, so I take the test for free. And I told myself, if I pass this, go na ako sa engineering. And I also take Admission test sa local university near us. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the UPCAT but I pass yung CAT sa isang local university. Then during my enrollment, I wasn't allowed to take engineering program kasi di daw naka-align yung track ko nung senior high (Tech-voc po kasi yung kinuha ko) so, no choice ako, either Education or Psychology lang yung pwede ko kunin. Can't afford po kasi namin yung tuition sa mga private universities na malapit samin kasi una, pamasahe pa lang talo na ko, baon ko pa if ever at may mga kapatid parin ako nag-aaral. And now, I'm currently a Psych student, do I regret it? No, kasi this course has been an eye opener for me. And I'm happy na ito pinili ko 😊 (buy somehow, I wonder what if sa engineering ako napunta 🤔)
Wala po bang bridging? I believe sa ibang universities may bridging programs for students who want to pursue a different course sa shs track/strand nila.
This is such an inspiring video for me as a psych grad to hear and know that we too, can thrive in med school. I really admire you, Doc Aura for creating a space here in youtube that is very informative and entertaining at the same time. Keep doing what you're doing! :)
this video gave me hope in pursuing medicine. i'm a psych graduate and an RPm. thinking that i dont have what it takes to be a med student , i spent a years wandering and mustering up the courage to apply and with this video, i'm so happy to know that i got a chance at my goal. GOOD LUCK TO US PSYCH STUDENTS!
ate whats rpm and how to??? pa reply nmn po stem student po ako gusto kong maging doctor and bs psych is my choiceas premed so whats the rpm po dko po alam kasi eh, then pano po makakuha ng ganto??? advance slamat po....
@@sallybreiler167 hello! RPm stands for registered psychometrician who administer tests as primary job. Dapat graduate ka ng Psychology at mag take ng board exam for psychometrician and pass it to get the license. Iba pang board exam yung para sa psychologist, RPsy nmn name extension nun. Hope I answered your question 😁
As a fellow psych grad (from ust yay go ustee!! Haha jk), I second po yung mentality/emotional stability and ability to adapt to change na nakakatulong po talaga siya ngayon sa med proper. This first year, nabigla po talaga ako during our first few shiftings and actually, ngayong second sem palang ako naka-adjust talaga (2 years dn kasi akong nag gap year). Since the first time I failed my exam, umiyak ako and down for a week nun pero dahil pangarap ko to, tinanggap ko na kailangan talaga doble or triple kayod ako para lang makasabay. Thankfully, pataas naman grades ko kahit bagsak bagsak ako nung una. Kaya sa mga fellow psych grads dito na nagpaplanong magmed or nasa med na, laban lang tayo 💪🏻
im currently in my first year. i could say that studying is really hard, but with psych it brings my curiosity into some things that would help explain the hows and whys of life (not totally, pero yung nature ng isang tao and the environment relativeness to see how different factors and forces affect one's development) through considering little things na nangyayari around us, nakikita natin yung impact na possible ma-gain over periods of time. hehe btw, thanks for this vid dok! Sana makapagmedschool din ako. 😊🙏
aaaa thank you doc aura for this!! super na enlighten na ako kung anong program ittake ko in college. and i think, ill pursue bs psych as my premed and after med school, i would take psychiatry as my clinical specialty. i really want to be a doctor ever since. at first, i always say na i’ll take medtech as my pre med before. but rn, as a HUMSS student, medyo na enlighten ako, nagkainterest din ako sa psych as my pre med. para at least, i can be a doctor even though i didnt take STEM this SHS haha. thank you so much doc!! 🥺❤️
Five years ago, I passed the NCE, with that, I enrolled at PSHS (I won't mention my campus). Meaning, since five years ago I was already destined to be in STEM. I have no liberty in choosing my strand for senior high. I can't just transfer because I signed a contract stating that I need to pay off my hundred thousand tuition in order to transfer. The dream job, which I want since I was little, was gone. Now, I really am having a hard time in choosing what course should I settle with. I can only choose between becoming a doctor or engineer (which is suffocating, to be honest). But lately, I've been watching a lot of videos about mental health and illnesses. That topic has caught my interest. I was confused whether I should settle with wanting to become a Psychiatrist... but this video has helped me a lot in deciding. I can't hide the fact that I still have doubts since I am scared of having regrets (just like my regrets passing the NCE), but atleast I already have plans, which I think is a good start in building my future. So thank you❤❤
I'm currently a 4th year psych student who plans to pursue med school kaso medj hesitant po ako kasi nga based on what I have researched na mas better and helpful talaga atsaka advantage if you took like Pharmacy, Nursing or Med Tech if you really planned to go Med school. Pero super na enlighten po talaga ako, and na boost ang confidence ko somehow sa na mention Ms. Vien na during med school lahat pantay² whatever pre-med you took kasi lahat naman matatap. Therefore I conclude, through watching your entry po Doc Aura, you inspired me to push myself to the limit talaga na e-pursue ko na talaga mag Med school kasi super gusto ko po. Thaaank you po! Godbless sa inyo lahaaat
this gives me so much hope, especially after being discouraged to take psych as pre-med. thank you so much for posting this, doc. thank you for all the guests who shared their experiences and advice. kinikilig po ako huhu
I'm so happy I bumped into this video! Currently BS Psych major po ako at 'di pa ako sure kung gusto ko maging clinical psychologist or mag-pursue ako sa med. I'm pretty nervous and intimidated by med school but I hope to make a decision by the time I graduate HAHAHAHA! Anyway, salamat po doc sa informative video na 'to! You've earned a subscriber ☺😍
Thankyou Doc Aura, dahil sa video na ito mas lalo kong nagustuhan at ipush na i-pursue ang BS Psychology. ❤ Na-excite ako bigla ilang taon nalang college na ako and simula high school palang willing na ako i-take tong path na to.
HUMSS student here po na ngayon pa lang overwhelmed na mag-BS Psych kasi ever since CET season, I've been hearing that STEM students have an edge in most pre-med courses lol. Still not sure whether to take my degree to the next level (wow feeling?) in med school pero for sure I want to be a psych student even though my family doesn't see the value in it~ mental health matters just as much as physical health. Commenting para balikan toh every year and remind myself why I chose psych. Keep praying, fellow psych students!
I’m gonna take this program in college. I thought na di ako makaka-pursue sa med school sa course na ito. Pero looks like I made the right decision, it looks fun and challenging. Thank you po sa video !!
Thank you for this Doc. so helpful for me na mabuhayan sa passion ko for Psych even if I'm not necessarily pursuing med. I'm "awaken" kung gano ka-ganda and helpful ng psych practitioners sa lipunan natin. endless struggle ko kasi yung feeling na "I should have" taken another course whatsoever kasi parang mas "legit" compared to Psych. Pero I realized, with the help of this video na we need more empathetic people to listen, understand and help others in a world na ang dami-dami ng nangyayaring masama. Again, thank you for this Doc and to your guests fro the valuable insights.
sobrang namiss ko po mag reply sa mga vids nyo, doc!! huhuhu i just graduated bs psych po last year hehe and hopefully makapag med school po this year sa plm huhu. anw, love you doc!!
Im actually 50/50, im contemplating on taking nursing or bs pysch for pre med to become a anesthesiologist but thanks for this vid very informative and it gives me the idea of what im getting myself into
I think hindi pareparehas ng mga subjects lahat ng course. Ibang school, ibang subjects. I mean, sa Psych nila may Anatomy, pero sa ibang course na Psych walang ganon. Huhuhu justiceeeeee ang unfair
I'm a BA Psych grad and yes we don't have that much science subjects. Our minors are mostly social science, humanities, and management courses. The core subjs are the same in BA and BS. BA is not exactly geared for medicine but I have friends and batchmates who are now in med school.
Hello Im currently taking BA psych and i did regret it bc most said na hindi siya geared up for med school but I still want to pursue med. Is it alright to share your friends' experiences in med school? Nahirapan po ba sila or are they doing well despite having BA psych as a backup degree.
I'm a graduating STEM student, and this video helps me a lot in choosing psychology. I heard a lot from my friends that psychology is hard. Well, all courses are hard. There is no easy in studying. That's why I need to prepare for anything that will also happen. I wanted to learn how people's minds work from their emotions and why they act like that. thank you doc.
Grabe this video is really helpful to motivate me more in pursuing BS PSYCHOLOGY. :") I'm getting more and more excited na tuloy sa August :>(btw, incoming 3rd year na po me hahahhahahaa HERE COMES THE ABNORMAL PSYCH, PSYCH ASSESSMENT, MORE DEADLY RESEARCHES, BIOLOGICAL PSYCH
i had close classmates who were Psych grad when we entered med school and it's true that they have to triple their effort when it comes sa subjects. it was a huge shock for them when we started our freshman. but it's also true that success in med school depends on the person's effort to study and understand, despite their lack of exposure and background knowledge other course graduates have.
@@quisharamos902 there are other courses as well like economics, accountancy, education major in bio. Yes, they have to really give their best para sumabay. Some have to get units for the science subjects na di nila natake ng undergrad before they are officially accepted. From there you can already see the things they have to double for the sake of med school
@@quisharamos902 honestly, di lahat. Some of my bio classmates nakakasabay kapag nagbabasa talaga sila. Pero yung stock knowledge nila non comparable with medtech and nursing grads
"Is psych ideal for someone aiming for a high GPA?" Not really, mahirap and psych in my experience. But I guess it depends on your strengths as a person. If research (writing, data analysis) is your strong suit and masipag ka mag-collect ng data, then you'll definitely earn a high GPA. In Psych kasi, we make multiple research studies per semester and it gets taxing haha
Dok Aura I’m curious why you’d rather have Psychology as your premed kasi diba may advantage and bs bio when it comes to med school kasi natackle niyo na yung ibang topics don’t familiar na kayo, whereas wala sa psychology. Does that mean wala naman talaga ng advantage kahit na mag overlap yung subjects nung college and medschool?
Sobrang nakakatuwa po Doc Aura na malaman na gusto mo palang itake as as pre med course ang psych ❤ Thank you po sa vlog na to! BS Psych graduate here. ❤ RPm na rin! Laban guys sa mga gustong i pursue ang Psych at med school. Lovelots 💕
Im a graduating student in shs and I'm planning to take BS Psychology in college as my premed course because I want to be a psychiatrist someday and this really helps me. Thank you Doc Aura for sharing information and knowledge!!!
Thank you so much for this...I'm here because I can't decide because of what if's...but I really love Psyche and my passion is for the people who suffers emotionally...not only emotional but whatever reason it is..I want to be an advocate someday that's why I want to have a background...
Omg. This really helped me have a better understanding on the course! And I can say, sigurado na talaga akong ito na kukunin ko 😊. I would not have regrets kasi ang interesting and its perfect for someone like me na undecided pa rin as it has many career opportunities din naman pala.
