Under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Central Pollution Control Board sets the pollution emission standard and timeline for implementation and regulation for the output of air pollutants from internal combustion engines and spark-ignition engines equipment in motor vehicle.
POLLUTION EMISSION NORMS BS4 VS BS6
BS6 emission standard is the sixth emission norm in the sequence in terms of reducing pollution as compared to retiring the BS4 emission standard. BS4 and BS6 are the assigned emission norms that set the maximum allowable levels of pollutant releases from a motor vehicle engine exhaust.
The BS6 norms vehicles required to emit nearly 60mg/km of NOx (nitrogen oxides) emission, not more than that. Whereas, it was 80mg/km in the case of BS4 norms. Though, the particular matter (PM) limit has also been capped at 4.5mg/km in petrol engines.
In the case of diesel cars emission norms, it’s way strict. NOx emissions should go down from 250mg/km to 80mg/km, HC+NOx emission must go down from 300mg/km to 170mg/km, PM emissions from 25mg/km to 4.5mg/km.
The level of sulphur and nitrogen oxide content in fuel plays a significant role. BS6 fuel has lower sulphur content than BS4 fuel. The sulphur content in BS6 fuel is five times lower (10ppm) as compared to sulphur content in BS4 fuel (50ppm). And, the nitrogen oxide level for the BS6 diesel engine and petrol engine will be brought down by 70% and 25%.
After BS6 norms come in effect from 1st April 2020, BS6 fuel will start dispensing across all petrol pumps in the country. You can even use BS6 fuel in BS4 or older cars without any trouble.

Ek aur point: In BS6 Engine, engine oil to be changed every 6000 kms (in case of my Jupiter 125). In engine with carburetor every 2500 or 3000kms.

5:43....but apache rtr 160 4v bs6 produces only 16.02 ps which is lesser than bs4 both carb and Fi ones.........engine had restricted to meet norms.......being a owner of 4v I felt top end is lesser than older ones....but engine had smoothed drastically.........cheers #BS6 😉

Dear sir please make a video on defference between bs4 & bs6 engine oil coz recently i had faced a issue on my car , i have noticed from past 2 servicing of my car they are using bs4 type engine oil instead of bs6 engine oil .after raising question over there act ,simply get an answer "koi farq nai padta hai".i searched same topic on internet but didn't get any answer regarding my question ,ab aap hi jo ish topic ko simply way mai samjha sakte . waiting for your reply .

BS4 engine is best for bike owner because It's reasonable for pocket whereas my friend want to sell his bike which he purchased in previous year for tremendous problem showing in his bike(bs6,fi)no any local mechanic is able to repair except showroom mechanic.

BS6 nikalne k bad engine ka power kam ho chuka hai jo shayad aap ko nehi pata. Aur rehi baat America wali, American engine ka jo refinement aur power hai wo har saal badta hai aur sath mein environment ko dhyan mein rakha jata hai. Indian policy wala to nehi hai. Aur ye baat koi bhi service center ka mechanic se baat karne se hi pata chal jata hai jo log asal mein both engines ka kaam karta hai. And I don't feel even you would defend government regarding petrol prices.

F.I 👎 The bs4 is more engine powerful engine pickup 👌 and Exetra..Exetea...than the bs6 models and gives more mileage. And all the while staring. And bs4 doesn't come with any... kind of engine costs. bs6 technology is failing everywhere now...... There are a lot of differences in bs4 compared to bs6. Now some clever people. Not buying new bs6 vehicles. Or preferring old bs4 bikes instead of new bs6's. Because bs4 is a lot better. And reduce costs. (I don't like new bs6 technology,😏)

Sahi bole sir .. mere pass bs6 hai 2 baar gadi showroom me chali gayi hai total of 4 month E.T.F.I sensor problem

Just because you don't like BS6 it doesn't mean that whatever you say is true. Now everyone understands the benefits of bs6 vehicles and they are buying in bulk. And only a few people are buying old BS4 vehicles, otherwise most of them are buying new BS6 vehicles. Stop spreading misinformation about BS6 norms. BS6 is not failing, in fact it's a great success.
