This machine features in a couple of earlier video, where it cam be seen showing 1.5 mm of crankshaft end float and, when partially stripped, the massive play between the crank and timing side bush. The full horror of what was found is explained in this video, where it is started for the very first time after a full rebuild, with a replacement crank and many other things put right.

I've got a broken A7 crank as an ornament. The crack started at the corner of the journal but continued at an angle & the rod was keeping it together so the bike was actually still running (just) when it came in. It was caused by a bad regrind where the journals hadn't been radiused correctly (or at all!). Luckily no crankcase damage.

Can I ask Paul whether this has 1970 time side inner and outer covers? It seems to me that people swap the old side ways clutch cable feed cases for the 1970 ones. Or were these introduced in '69?

@@paulhenshaw4514 I had a look, Yes so 1970 was the year those clutch cable entry point came in. But I have heard many people prefer them and swapped them over onto older bikes. will stand to be corrected.

Do you ream the timing side bush with the crankcases bolted up, and does the SRM pump extend the life of said bush?

I take measurements, allowing for the interference fit of the bush in the casing, then machine the inside of the bush so it gives the correct fit on the crank when pressed into the timing side case. SRM pumps are new and possibly have greater capacity, so should be an improvement over any used original, at the very least.

Yes, you can actually see me feel the right exhaust pipe briefly, but the second cylinder joins in soon after I tickle the carb for that side, then it runs ok on two.

Just curious, did the owner ever get a response from the last owner or dealership? I mean, they should at least give him some kind of refund after that kind of hammereddogshit
