In this video, I measure the endfloat on the BSA Bantam Crankshaft and correct it to the value required in the BSA Service Sheet by adding shims.

I was just reading about this on bantam forums- some of the advice seemed so over complicated.. start with this, minus this and this.. this makes perfect sense, thank you!

Thanks Adrian, if there's a simple way to do things, that suits my brain better!

@@retromechanicalengineer quick question if you don’t mind, is there a minimum clearance from the crank to the case?
@retromechanicalengineer
@retromechanicalengineer 2 года назад
@@AdrianWhyte there isn't a crank to casing dimension given in the service sheets, but it does depend on the model where the shims are fitted. Happy to send you a scan of the relevant sheet if required mate. Thanks very much for subscribing. Dean.

Thanks Dale. Your encouragement means a lot. The bike isn't new, it's a restoration I did about 15 years ago that needs recommissioning because it's stood unused for about 6 years. You'll have to wait and see!! Best wishes my friend, Dean.

That was great. I really liked the method you came up with for measuring the end float. I wonder if Terry is still alive? Thank you very much for the shout out, I hope people will find something of interest in my films.

You are welcome. Terry will be in his mid seventies now if he's still with us.

@@retromechanicalengineerYes he will. Thanks again for the mention. My first rather amateur-ish (even more amateur-ish) film I made of my workshop is getting a few views. I will have to make an updated version as things are now quite different. I thought your explanation was lucid, clear and to the point. Unlike my efforts. I seem to lose the ability to speak coherent English sentences the moment I press record.

Good job Dean. Hoping the bike is a CB 250N. Happy New Year.
