Evening Hugh I hope we find you well. These little jobs are so easily put off but make such a difference when done. Little Bessie always sounded crisp but a good carburettor makes for easy and consistent starting and a smooth tickover and throttle response , well done ,kind regards Stuart Bell.👏🏻

Stuart you are so positive. Thank you. I have to be patient waiting to try it out. I am doing well.

Hi Hugh. Good to see you're back on your feet. That slide should help your carb. Keep well. Tom.

Thank you Tom. I'm getting on really well. Nice to do a wee job on the bike. On Monday I have to tackle the catastrophic oil leak and reseal the timing cases. It won't be too long till I'm out on it. Take care, Hugh.

Hi Hugh. Liked your pun about you being a bit like your leaky bike. Nice to see you have retained your sense of humour I have Just seen your latest video. I like the look of the solid brass slide, it looks like a quality piece of machining. Hope that it performs well when you are up to kick starting again. Get well soon!😃
@hughferrier5837
@hughferrier5837 Год назад
Thanks Leonard for that. The slide is so beautifully machined I was almost tempted to keep it as a beautiful paperweight! My leaking is improving the C15's isn't!

If you need a kick start I'll be happy to break up my pedal up that hill on my bike. Also had my final Uni exam so hopefully will be a qualified chemist next month!

Hello Sol my dear old pupil. I am delighted and so proud of you. You always wanted to go in for teaching, I wonder is that still your goal. Chemistry is the most wonderful subject. You were so good at it. I can admit now you were a lot better than me! You picked it up and understood so easily. A generous offer to kick start my bike. I am hoping in another week to give it a go. I am so much better now.

@@hughferrier5837 it's good to hear that you're on the mend, and I have a place in my post graduate teaching so long as I get my degree. Also I will be dual qualified in maths so I'm a bit of a copycat. I'm sure I'll bump into you one day as I mountain bike up near you quite a lot. See you soon and hope the leg gets better quickly. I cant believe I liked learning about organic chemistry after us agreeing it was "soft and pointless" in school haha.
@hughferrier5837
@hughferrier5837 Год назад
@@solmackay Its not the leg that's the stopping me. That recovered a while ago. I found earlier in the year I had cancer and had my prostate removed seven weeks ago so I am waiting to fully recover from that. I'm glad I didn't poison you about Organic Chemistry. I never liked it. Too much memory work. I always preferred Inorganic.

@@hughferrier5837 oh my, I'm so glad you're on the mend. I'll definitely pop up and see you at some point as I've not seen you in ages. And no poisoning at all, I thought I hated organic chemistry too but something just clicked at uni and I quite enjoyed it. You're definitely hardy keeping busy after your operation and I hope you can get out on the C15 soon to enjoy this fantastic weather. I'll also have to show you my new electric mountain bike it's fantastic. Hopefully all is well after your operation. Sol

Hi Hugh. How's your recovery going, are you feeling better, and have you been out in the garage? Clare.
@hughferrier5837
@hughferrier5837 Год назад
Hello Claire that is so lovely of you. I feel really well but my PSA level did not fall to zero. That suggests there are still cancer cells around. I've had another test and am waiting for the results. A possible scan and radiotherapy is ahead. I am just in from the garage. I've replaced the main shaft bush on the inner timing cover. I haven't started the C15 since before surgery. I hope maybe this afternoon. But the weather is horrible just now. Thank you so much. Hugh

I'd be interested to hear how this goes in the medium/long term because of the problems I had with a Monobloc slide years ago. I would have loved to get my hands one of those brass slides at the time.
@hughferrier5837
@hughferrier5837 Год назад
I will post up when I know. At the moment I have not been on the C15 or started it since my prostatectomy. I may try starting it in a week or two. At the moment the timing covers are off yet again and I am going to replace the main shaft bush. I think I leak a lot from there. I am desperate to see how it runs with the new slide.

Thanks John. One engine comparison that you will come out favourably is oil leakage! My bike's kind of like myself at the moment!

biggest problem I have is the tick over start of fine ...but as engine gets hotter let say after 15 mins its ticking over a little fast...I got a new Amal no4 slide...bit still have this tiny niggle :)
