This Goldie is fitted with a BTH magneto which has the advance and retard mapped in the unit. A standard Goldie start up would include the use of the advance and retard lever before and after starting.
Hi, I have a goldstar. it was left to me by my Father. I wish mine started like yours. well done - the start process is perfect. He rode it regularly and recently it was stored for about 12 months in good conditions. . I cant start it. I have cleaned the carb and it has a good spark. When I kick it over it spits back through the carb and I nearly broke my leg twice - really. They have so much compression. Any advice?
Hi Peter I believe we met roadside in 2003, British Columbia, beside Kootenay Lakes. You were out for the International Vincent Rally. I stopped to look at the two strange black bikes parked in a pullout. I thought they might be Vincents, so I stopped. Had always wanted one, but had never seen one in the flesh. One was a series D ( John Daniels?) with the fairing lifted, owner fiddling with carb. You were having great fun with the Vincents on our BC roads. IIRC your bike was a c Rapide. I went home and purchased one then another Rapide, We've done 55,000 miles touring on one. I also built a 1360 monoshocker in the Egli style. See what you started? I'm thinking of getting a Goldstar, dbd34. In your view, how would it do on our mountain roads that the Vincent twins work so well on?
@@goawaytours Thanks. Warming up the engine without a choke must be interesting. I would think the bike impossible to ride until the engine has reached full operating temperature. Is there a way of raising the tick-over during warm up?
