This Saturday at Skegness Raceway, 445 Nigel Green makes his return to BriSCA F1. Last night Jonathan caught up with Nigel. They discussed his time away from the sport, what this weekend looks like, and his plans for the future.
Nigel is a Tom Harris level talent. Ridiculously fast in F2 and became the complete package in F1 … achieved greatness very much on his terms and without the generations of F1 experience behind him that most top drivers enjoy. I’m really pleased he’s back.
My best memory of Nigel racing, was when he won the world final at foxhall on the Saturday night, and mentioned in his interview that a car he referred to as the pink panther nearly cost him the race. On the following day a the masters, Nigel was leading his race, and came across said pink panther, fenced him, and continued on to win. That was pure class.
I get the impression he doesn't like to be hit.. more a track driver, not ovals. Tar Mac is good, but I recall the world final on shale he was spinning everywhere.
