Today we received news that Judge Conley of the Western District of Wisconsin has officially dismissed the case! We will be posting the full document in the days to come if anyone wants to read it. Thank you for your support! It was very much appreciated! -GK
Congratulations on prevailing in this BS lawsuit. Litigation is never enjoyable and generally I find it too easy for someone to file a case. Great to see that in this case, the good guys won! Truth and honesty matter. Keep up the great work!
As a customer and a worker in this industry, I would love to see debates over the product itself, and I will judge by myself. Personal attacks like what xdesk did are not really acceptable.
The way Xdesk managed this situation was so bad that they buried themselves, while you managed to stay professional. Xdesk's PR team and their crisis management are probably the worst I have ever seen. This should be a case study
The problem is, that if you're going to shit on others for their low quality products, those people are going to get their feelings hurt, and they're going to go to extreme lengths to play the victim. The victim here is not the one who's selling cheap stuff and making a large margin on sales, it's the customer. I'm going through something similar. I just think it's hilarious that drama has reached a channel like this, but there you go!
Went over to the Xdesk channel to get a better idea of what’s going on. Wow. Felt like I was watching poorly made conspiracy videos. Makes me appreciate your videos a whole lot more. Good luck BTOD. Still love my desk btw!
The work history question is irrelevant. I'm a corporate executive working in the technology industry; I've been the CTO of a multi-million dollar fintech company, and I'm currently the lead product designer and marketing consultant for numerous technology ventures. I make a great income, drive a beautiful Audi, and have a very nice home. Why should what I did before my career matter in any way? I mean, let's get into the details: I made pizza, I worked at Best Buy (sold computers and audio equipment), I worked at a video game store in a flea market, I was a professional musician for close to a decade, I worked in the music industry, I spent about 3 days selling Amway products; I once spent an entire summer folding boxes for a local restaurant. When I go interview for a new job, I don't tell the interviewers that I used to be a barista and sling ice cream. Why the hell does that matter? Is it a character-based suit? If so, we've all done some stupid shit, gotten a little too drunk, and fell asleep in a bush or two (or maybe that's just me), but I'm also a 40-year-old man and far removed from the 17-year-old teenager that made bad decisions once upon a time. The lawsuit and the video are just silly and frankly, desperate. If anything, this is just a sign that BTOD has made something for themselves, and they did so by utilizing a great strategy of being honest, having integrity, and educating customers. I bought a Wire Management Box a few weeks ago, but it was a BTOD article/video that referred me to buy an Uplift Desk and a Steelcase Gesture, two products I bought elsewhere that they didn't profit from. For all of those claims, the facts just don't add up since many of their positively reviewed products aren't even sold on their site. What nonsense is this? Keep on being awesome Greg. You're the best man. And BTOD will make it through this disparaging BS.
Just got my Terra Pro. Fortunately with four legs it appears to avoid the flexing issue. I do have some nit pics though... All the graphics of the Terra Pro show it using Linak DL4S legs (rounded shape). What was sent to me is using Linak DL12 legs (squared off). A bit annoying but both legs have the same maximum load ratings I guess... Also definitely not chain driven; it's a linear actuator. Personally don't care either way but I can confirm the inconsistency. XDesk could really do with help getting their information about their products straightened out. Had the information been accurate I probably would have still pulled the trigger. Happy with the desk but the discrepancies leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Total Streisand effect going on here. It only serves to make the review more visible. Not sure what they were thinking when they posted that article on their website either. Truly baffling.
I have to say that XDESK is a childish company and I would not do business with them. With that said, I would not buy a BTOD branded desk or give their reviews much weight in my decision making. They simply have conflicting interests. I wouldn't trust Apple reviewing Samsung phones or vice versa. Same applies here. It is not a shot at BTOD, but just general logic.
Glad to hear it was dismissed. I saw the stuff on their website AFTER I purchased my vertdesk and was worried about my purchase a bit, until it arrived anyway. It sounded like a nutjob website more than it sounded like a professional business so I took it with a grain of salt. The "you have to literally bend metal to install" thing was fake news. Turning that hex rod was so easy and not at all "bending metal". Honestly you guys did a great job with packaging and instructions on this thing. Just the fact that you labeled all the parts in individual bags instead of cramming everything into one big bag and leaving me to figure out the difference between a 2mm screw and a 3mm screw (made up examples) was a rare treat in this day and age.
They have been advertising against our brand with their weird campaign for months now. I really do appreciate you sticking with us and even happier to hear you are enjoying your desk. Thank you for the support and for your business! -GK
BTOD.com you bet, I actually just got it set up this afternoon and couldn’t be happier. Ordered on Friday morning and receive today (Sunday)... way ahead of estimated delivery date. Your install videos were extremely helpful, especially for the wire management shelf. Will definitely be leaving positive reviews! Keep up the good work!
Lmfao, this lawsuit is absolutely ridiculous. Next Technologies' video regarding BTOD.com and Greg is nothing more than just straight up character assassination. They literally attack him at one point for gesturing with both hands, saying that it's indicative of lying lmfao. Pretty sure that's what you're SUPPOSED to do when public speaking/presenting a video. It's a straight up propaganda video. I hope y'all come out on top, this channel has lots of great info and it's clear that Next Technologies doesn't have a solid leg to stand on, much like their desks.
Now THAT'S HOW you come back at someone who's trying to assassinate your character. Kill their asses with facts.... in the most professional manner! I salute you, BOTD! Way to go!
They messed with the wrong company, congrats on the case dismissal, so professional the way you handled the whole situation, you guys are awesome! Looking forward to buying one of your VertDesk V3s.
Have my support through this comment. As for my 30mins of first-time browsing reviews (for sit/stand-desks) on your site - kudos! Excellently detailed and a massive help.
I saw this after watching the Xdesk video and my first thought was they're really grabbing at straws here.. I've done enough research on your company and will definitely be ordering soon.
Hey guys it really sucks that you guys are going through this right now. I just recently picked up a vert desk v3 after buying and returning a standing desk from a retail furniture company and it being dead on arrival. This bad experience made me do a lot of research and BTOD was a great resource. I have no complaints about the vert desk v3 and I would have zero hesitation about doing business with BTOD again.
Keep up the good work. This video is much more professional and concrete than xdesk's videos. I recently purchased a vertdesk v3 and this whole situation with xdesk made me believe in your reviews more.
Even if you were wrong, wouldn't it still fall under free speech and be protected? I hope you guys are reimbursed for legal costs when they lose this lawsuit
I own the vertdesk, it is a pure beast, built to last decades if not centuries... The only thing to complain about is, looks too bland. With the quality, price of VertDesk, how the hell is it not the best-selling desk out there??? Because many people find it looks a bit dated. That's my only complaint.
I always have trusted you all. Your reviews are very detailed and you always rate other products higher then your own if they deserve it. You are very knowledgable and transparent. Thanks for the response. Ordered a vert desk yesterday and cant wait for it :)
I respect your response (as an outsider who is only learning about this drama / lawsuit today). But it’s clear you’re not just making filler statements
They just sunk to a new low by making personal attack. Anyone with an basic engineering knowledge will know that thin solid aluminium section will make the thing unstable (low moment of inertia), a noob mistake by their design engineer. A reputable company should just recall the product and admit the mistake rather then destroy their fame.
Thanks for the update. Too many lawsuits getting thrown around randomly. Xdesk got a bad review because they made a bad desk, improve next time and try again.
Ha! I spent quite a bit of time the last three years working on the business. I stayed in school because I told my Mom I would. Ultimately, college wasn't for me, but it did help guide me to start BTOD. We've been in business for 15 years next month -GK
Btw due to your outstanding research and commitment to providing in-depth knowledge of ergonomic chairs, I found a steelcase leap v2 last weekend for 250 and I love it!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wow, solid aluminum flat feet, off center of the leg? Anyone with the slightest bit of mechanical knowledge would know that was a bad idea from a mile away! They probably used cheap extruded stock instead of billet to add insult to injury.
The xdesk people were just burned so bad. How humiliating. I believe you shredded their very souls. Xdesk lost everything it ever had and ever will have. The flexing of the Xdesk feet was just so pitiful that as an empath, my heart bled for them a little bit. The engineer behind the xdesk is curled in a fetal position underneath the xdesk at this very moment. By this time word has gotten back to the Chinese slave labor factory responsible for manufacturing the x desk and rumour has it employees are being lined up for summary execution as a result of this video.
i love the rigor that BTOD applies to their testing, and these are some of the best office furniture reviews out there. sounds like sour grapes from that other company, and I hope this suit is resolved quickly and favorably for you. looking forward to more videos and products.
Comes down to the fact that all online reviews are mostly BS. We as humans have a collective need to know what the Hive is thinking and online reviews fills that need. So business can fill these reviews with attacks on other companies or complimentary reviews to promote their own products. There are many business that will do this for any company. When I ran my cafe there where several of these business that called all the time offering their services. Since the corporate model is to make money corporation will engage these businesses. Who gets hurt? Consumers who falsely rely on these reviews and small business who wont engage in these actions. So if you are one of those persons that rely on reviews I would not trust any online review and would seek out organizations like consumer reports to make my decisions about purchasing a product. If you are a small business that wont engage in what is basically lying to your customers, well then more power to you and the best of luck.
We are transparent about everything we do. There is a disclaimer on every review about who we are and what we do. This case was dismissed last year -GK
@@btodtv I'm just recently learning about all this drama after discovering your channel from some home office research. As much as this saga sucked for your company, I think a silver lining is that, judging by more recent videos, you guys seemed to have learned to be more up-front in recent videos talking through which products are your own (things like recent chair tier lists including your own products comes to mind). That's the nature of business and content creation though, learning and improving. Good luck, and keep pumping out awesome content! (Sending respect and good vibes from Madison!)
The other X company is crap we get that but you didn't respond to your shady practices of purposely reviewing your products as the best and advertising them as though you don't own them. Fraud
I would suggest you spend some more time reading our content before rushing to judgement. We have many lists and reviews where our products aren't ranked the best. You'll also see we have no issues pointing out the flaws in our products as well. We have never advertised these lists or reviews as if we aren't the brand representing them -GK
