A walk through Rue de Douai is a must for every guitar player visiting Paris: a few blocks are almost entirely dedicated to great guitar stores! At "Guitare Collection", we have the chance to try a great vintage original 1956 Gibson Les Paul Custom with a 480 "Alnico V" neck pickup. Also this is an occasion to rediscover together an interesting piece of the guitar history: the story of the Ampeg Dan Armstrong, known as the "see-thru" or "transparent guitar". The instrument was made famous by Keith Richards, who used it during the most creative years of the Rolling Stones, until the notorious theft at Villa Nellcôte, during the recording sessions for "Exile on Main Street". In the footsteps of Keith Richards, a big number of players wanted to strap on an Ampeg Dan Armstrong, Cyril Jordan of the Flamin’ Groovies is one of them.
