Fiio BTR7 DAC AMP has great sound and many useful features it also has flaws that can be irritating and time consuming. If you want to use it just for a Bluetooth input it is great and will be a good choice. If you use Tidal and want MQA or files at higher resolution that require wired input there are problems that I experienced.

Let me know what MQA portable DAC you like or if you think chasing MQA is a silly idea.
I tried to use in the car with a 3.5mm aux cable output and the sound was noticeably better The car repeatedly wanted to connect my phone via Bluetooth and disconnected from the aux input making it a hassle and too distracting for the driver. This disconnect was the cars doing however it gave a clear side by side comparison and the BTR7 improved the sound.
The input can be bluetooth but the output is balanced plug or a standard headphone 3.5mm plug so you will be using a cord not matter how its set-up which is to be expected. It's a bluetooth receiver not a transmitter FYI.
Pros:
-Great sound
-Powers all headphones
-Bluetooth input connection is flawless
-Brings new life to basic headphones up to pro headphones
-Charges quickly
-On/Off switch for drawing charging power from your device
-MQA and Lossless file compatible
Cons:
-USB-C, USB, does not work every-time; it is very glitchy
-MQA on Tidal can only be accessed with wired connection and the wried connect doesn't work as it should
-Package did not come with lightning adaptor even though I paid extra for it
-The marketing says 'Leather Case' but the case is another material
-The App has terrible reviews
I did experience very good sound from the device. The connection troubles I experienced using the USB-C could be due to a bad wire but in that case the quality controls come into questions. I am not confident spending over $200 on this device and will return because it did not include the Lightning Cable which I paid for and because of these other issues.
Other options I am considering: Dragonfly Cobalt or Red from AudioQuest, EarMen TR-Amp, EarStudio ES100 MK2, HELM Audio Bolt DAC/AMP,
Materials used with the Fiio BTR7
Tidal App MQA and HI-Fi Lossless
