Okay, a couple things guys. First of all, Summer literally gave me chills when she mentioned Jimin's Lie in particular connecting it to this BTS' era. Her assumption was on point, he did struggle with his self-image in the beginning, because while they were given the freedom to be themselves, they were still very young and trying to find themselves. The industry at the time put the label of "bad guys" on them, because of the rebellious spirit of their early music and their dress code. It was hard for them to separate what people thought of them from their own feelings. In songs like "Idol" or Jimin's solo "Filter", they are acknowledging the fact that they are given (and give themselves) many labels, however, they have the realization that they have every right to move from one to the other, because at the end of the day they might just be a combination of all of those labels and also parts of them that are hidden to the public. You'll find a similar message in Namjoon's "Persona". Also being in a group with 6 other people, sometimes what you wish for is hard to be expressed fully, you have to make sure that you can reach a common ground between all the parts of the group. Some of the members at the time were still very new to music production and songwriting, so their artistic direction was relying mainly on the members that had more experience. If you listen to the albums in order, while there is a particular moment where you can tell that they decided to switch their concept, the whiplash effect you experienced from watching this video and listening to this song is not as intense. Their growth is a little more gentle, and you'll realize how some of the songs you've listened to so far fit into the album's story and the eras they were experiencing at the time of each album. Even if the genres don't always match throughout the whole album there are other things that keep it consistent, like the production style, the lyrical content, a few metaphors or references, and so on. Serious stuff aside, Daniel's joke about them looking very intense because of the eyeliner was the cherry on top of this video. Taehyung made the same exact joke while they were watching their debut performances. J-Hope said "you can see the passion in our eyes" and Tae deadpanned "that's the eyeliner".

Boy With Luv is kind of an alternate version of Boy In Luv and shows how much BTS have grown in terms of concept and music. Rather than just being 'In love' they're now filled 'with love' and wish to share it with others. This MV shows youthful and aggressive love but Boy With Luv shows the beauty of love in itself.

BTS music really represents the different eras in their lives. This was the final title track of the school trilogy. So if you look at when each MV is released and figure out their ages during that time, the sentiment of the song is going to represent that particular era in their lives as they were a part of the song writing and composing with each album. So once you get through the whole discography (and it’s a lot of music) you’ll realize, you grow up with BTS through the years.

It is a reflection of a typical "boy in love" as a teenager. they did this when Jin was 20, Suga 19, RM and Jhope 18, V and Jimin 16, and JK was 15. So yes this is "Boy in Love" in this certain period of time. Aggressive, impulsive, careless. so you can also see that their lyrics mature as they age. It gets more depth into it. One thing is for sure their performance is always a bomber.

I agree with Summer saying "it was a phase" to some extent. I think this just proves how authentic and involved BTS are with their music; it grows with them. So naturally, in their teenage years, they sung about their own teen experiences like young love, education, societal expectations, and the like. As they mature and grow in wisdom and experience, they sing about themes that they feel are most reflective of where they are at in life. Their discography is basically an autobiography of all seven of them hence, why I think their music resonates so much with a lot of people. So yes, it is a "phase" but one that bears witness to their authentic and unique artistry. Aghhh your reaction got me rambling! Lol loved it as always!! Waiting on the next one ☺💜

They started out a hip-hop group. The bad boy in love image just came with it. It was one of those concepts that the youth related with. They only got freedom to experiment and developed once they had a following that would ensure their songs would be loved regardless. Honestly, they broke out of the mould pretty quickly and I'm so proud of them for it. I know most ARMYs don't like to dig it up but Boy In Luv, in particular, received a lot of backlash for some lyrics that could be seen as misogynistic. RM, at the time, with the other writers, was going for relatability and amongst young men, the whole idea of being domineering and confessing passionately is very appealing. RM has long since realised that he doesn't need to cater to such notions. Boy With Luv is actually a reply to this song - a way of saying that we have changed, our ideas have changed and we have evolved. If you'll notice, Boy With Luv is literally the other pole of Boy in Luv. They're wearing pink, they're smiling at the camera throughout, the lyrics are empowering and pleasant and sweet. I love this because it goes to show that these 7 men have been in the spotlight for far too long but still they've managed to grow and adapt and stand for they believe in. :)))

That isn't accurate because they wrote this song lol, so it wasn't just a concept handed to them. All young men go through this part of their lives where they are trying to understand girls and their own feelings towards them. You all need to stop acting like there is something wrong with their older videos/songs. Stop making "Excuses" for it when it is just a part of their journey.
@givemecaffeine2342
@givemecaffeine2342 Год назад
@@PurpleFlowerwork lmao, I literally said that rm wrote the lyrics so idk what you're on about. The line them finding the freedom to change up their style is about fandom-building. They had a substantial fanbase that even if they strayed from their initial hardcore boys coming of age themes like they did starting with I Need You they'd still have people listening to their music for sure. I personally didn't find their lyrics all that controversial and still to this day like listening to their older releases. It's just important to put things into context. They've made mistakes, it's weird to not acknowledge that when RM himself has and I don't think I made excuses for that?

If you dont mind jumping timeline 'Run BTS' (the song) is a good choice for that Rock element. The recent dance practice video is 🔥🔥🔥

WOW Summer, you really got Jimin, like you really understood what his dilemma was. And this was exactly what he was talking about in Lie. Jimin IS very manly and does have all the martial arts training and all that but his personality is very soft and kind and affectionate and he definitely didn't vibe with the hyper machismo persona that the older concepts were. The company also chose him to be the person who showed his abs and stuff in performances which took him down a path of unhealthy dieting and obsession about his body because of the pressure to have abs. That is all what he meant in Lie. Now he still works out a lot but is more balanced about it and is true to himself and has matured to be confident with who he is and to play up his sexy dancing in his performances which is definitely one of his strengths. That's amazing that you picked it up without watching any of their documentaries or behind the scenes content where he has spoken about it. BTS are role models in terms of progressiveness and really eschewing the stereotypic toxic masculinity that has been taught to young boys and men and they really show you can be men while being thoughtful and loving and still strong.

The way BTS discography works, it’s like a journey through life. It’s like a reflection of youth. The first few albums mainly focus on school-themed concepts (as is seen Boy In Luv’s music video) as you go through their discography you’ll see their progression in album concepts, as well as their progression in their music. Guys I love your reactions. The behind the scenes of this MV is so fun. You have barely scratched the surface of BTS. Someone made a huge chart of music genres they used. I'm still amazed at the scope. This song is part of the School Trilogy Era, their first 3 mini albums, which were all put out within THEIR FIRST YEAR after debut. So yes they were young, and the eyeliner is iconic. This era gave us so much music. You are early in your exploration, and MAMA 2019 is a nice compass, but each era gave so much awesome songs. Edit : The title songs are absolutely awesome; no skips, but, and i'm actually tearing up a little, when you will get to the "b sides"... No words can encompass their whole musical universe.

It shows the school where they used to study together, and the room where they used to play music, have fun and skip classes. It’s one of the happiest moments before everything fall apart. Later on, when they separate from each other, it’s when each one of them start having problems with their traumas (just like in Fake Love where you could see each one of them suffering somehow). You can see all raw edges to them and insane drive to make a mark, confidence too. Being a middle age Army, I have a soft spot for youthful Bangtan, I guess its something you start to treasure and understand appreciation for first after you have lived a bit and can reminiscent on stuff that is fleeing in life. First when its gone, you become aware how precious it was and how you miss it. Gosh they had so much fire in them from the very beginning:-) Just look at them back then, with Joonie already flashing his alpha commanding persona, Suga lethally swagging away and Kookie going for it like there is no tomorrow..... all truly great. I find it absurd that some people took an issue with this song and lyrical content. It is honest and it is true to all young boys reality:-) I would personally pick Boy in live 10, 000, 000 x over the Lalalalala Boy with Love.

If you remember in the guide they started as a Hip Hop group. They did song that could relate to young men in school and new love and what young teen boys go through and deal with. They did later transition along with their age to a more mature and growing up eras. And they have never been afraid to try new genera's and content but always staying true to their feelings and about real subject matter that youth and people in general all go through. That is what makes them who they are. They have never just stuck with one thing and sang about general topics or situations. They have always gone much deeper than that. You have honestly barely scratched the surface of a lot of their deepest stuff. Anything that has to do with the BU is very deep and all has very deep meanings. Even their Hip Hop era delt with struggle of the youth with love, society, and expectations from others. You will continue to be surprised , trust me on that, lol. But ARMY will be here to help you with any questions and to guide you in the right direction. Love you guys, you are awesome. And we would love to hear your music and singing sometime as well. Before debut they trained tirelessly perfecting their dancing, singing, rapping, public speaking, fan interactions (that’s the KPOP industry) and as you can see BTS redefined this industry by writing about their own experiences and the cultural/social/political subjects that mattered most to them.

I absolutely LOVE 'school trilogy' baby BTS, Cypher, We On, 2nd Grade, Look Here, the tracks are amazing You seem to think that this era was an experiment, it wasn't. They started off more hip hop and were trying to tell their own stories through their music and this was the genuine result. You can't get more honest than that, making tracks that don't guarantee easy wins but come from the heart. Obviously they grew up and matured too. BTS NEVER want to give ARMY the same music over and over, surely you can see that for yourself from the range in their music catalogue.💜

This trilogy is about their teenage school years, the rebellious boys. It took them a lot of time to figure out the BTS sound. Now we call it the BTS genre coz they managed to create something that uniquely them. Please listen to 'Danger' from their studio album Dark and Wild. It is one of my favorite title tracks from BTS. The song also has a Rock element.

If you start from the beginning of their discography and listen chronologically then you will see their growth not only musically but also from boys to men. One thing to note, is this song's Korean title I think translates to Manly Man and is about teen love with a sort of naive outlook on what love is. JK starts the song saying he wants to be your Oppa (boyfriend). They wrote Boy With Luv as a follow up to show how they have matured and how their viewpoint on love has matured. Boy With Luv Korean title translates to A Poem for Small Things and it is more about how love is about the little things. The beginning of that song Jimin says I am curious about everything about you. RM once said in an interview that BIL was about love outside of yourself and BWL is about love inside yourself. The opening lyrics show that progression from I to You.

I'm glad you've decided to react to the songs individually first so you're more free to enjoy the performance side of the MMA. jumping back to BIL like this will give you a bit of whiplash cos their growth, personally and therefor musically, has been immense, but if you watch stuff more in chronological order, the developement is more organic and not so !! also, early BTS holds lots of quality. the School Trilogy (their first three albums) still holds some of my personal faves. Cypher 2, N.O, Paldogangsan, We On, 어디에서 왔는지, Outro: Circle Room Cypher (watch/listen for the cuteness cos lyrics vids struggle with this one lol you'll see), Outro: Luv In Skool (A+ vocals), Intro: Skool Luv Affair, Outro: Propose, Spine Breaker. I hope you'll get around to all of them😌

Thankyou so much for reacting to this song, this was the song that started me down the BTS rabbit hole and holds a very special place in my heart. This was the song that literally saved my life back in 2014 and if it wasn't for this song I wouldnt be here. Also this was the song and MV where I first saw Jimin (who is now my ult kpop bias) and I just fell in love with his vocals and just his facial expression. Believe when I say you don't know just how much this song means to me. Also this song is my fav BTS song ever, also the album this is from Skool Luv Affair and this was the very first album I ever got (my boyfriend got me it as a anniversary presant) and it's my most precious thing ever. Thankyou so much for reacting to this song, thos was my first ever BTS song I heard and it was this song that made me an army. It was also this song that jimin first caught my attention with his vocals and that's wen I decided he was my ult bias. Also this song literraly saved my life back in 2014 long story short back then I suffered really bad depression like I didn't want to live anymore but then this song came into my life n I'm grateful it did otherwise I wouldn't be here today

I love all BTS era and think this era was fun. I was surprised when you guys were shocked at how good they were at dancing already. I love watching their dance practice videos from this timeframe because I love how their footwork sounds. Don't forget that in the early days, the rap line drove a majority of their creativity since the rest were so much younger. I think this is the world they knew. There was a conversation between RM and Jin about how Jin struggled because he had to appear tougher and more into hip hop than his usual self whereas the maknae line were still getting to know themselves. I wouldn't say "this was not them" because it definitely was when they were that age and part of their growing pains.

BTS evolves on each and every album which is why you're in for many genres and many themes that you wouldn't have imagined they already went through. They dont have a genre. They are not even K-Pop. They are ingenius artists who continue to explore the many ways to express their thoughts. Hope you can react to their solo performances for you to get a grasp of each member's own flavor. Would also be nice to react to personality videos of each member so you'd get to know them as an individual for you to understand how all 7 can blend well together despite the difference in their personalities.

I really appreciate the thoughtfulness with which you are exploring BTS. Honestly seeing you watch this and connect the portrayal back to Jimin and Lie, it just shows how much you are genuinely learning and understanding what they create. It's so nice. I know it can almost feel a little jarring to go from a more modern MV to one of the older ones. I will always appreciate the older music because it's what got them their original fanbase, and allowed them to gain a foothold in the industry, and they are all bops. I know it took them a while to really find their own style, but I'm forever grateful that they grew in success enough that they were able to explore so many styles over the years. I follow several other groups too and can only wish them all the same lifespan in the industry, and the same hard earned freedom to really explore their sound.

BTS's eras always speak about what they're thinking about, what they're going through, in that moment. Back then, they were definitely more hip-hop and rap heavy due to the fact that the group was centered on the rappers. Also, the first trilogy of albums spoke about school, what teens go through, very coming of age -- so even the genre reflected the rebellious theme that ran through their lyrics. As the years passed by, their music and lyrics also progressed along with them and their maturity. So I think the early days were not necessarily them not being true to who they are but rather them trying to be true to what they thought they were, and also, more true to who the rapline were. And when you're that young, sometimes your idea of who you are and who you're supposed to be is not the most clear.

This song is the single from their second mini album. Also, I know you guys said you’ll be watching mikrokosmos and dionysius after, and then MMA 2019, but there’s also two songs that I believe are worth reacting to before as they are also part of that performance, which are Intro: Persona (RM’s solo) and N.O. I hope you guys can react to those MV’s as well. Thanks again for letting us go through your journey of discovering BTS ❤️❤️.

Everyone is always taken aback by their young eras.. but like, they’re so relatable.. you can sense their youth and the fact that they’re literally acting their age all throughout their music.. never trying to be something their not. They literally went through ALL the phases.. just like we all did growing up ! And just like us, they too grew up and grew into their sound. Absolutely love the old sound but knowing they’ve had a hand in every stage of their writing/career is so special no matter what era or album you’re enjoying. That was BTS just as much as todays Bts is BTS.

They had this tough guy look for a couple of years -- the school trilogy and the Dark & Wild album. After that, came the Most Beautiful Moment in Life, and they changed their whole look. If you watch their early Dance Practice videos, you see that they were so tight back then. They moved like one body. It took 16 hours of practice to get to their perfection. Later on, they show more of their individuality, so although they're still synchronized, they don't dance like one person.

Since BTS grew with ARMY you'll see many emotions and phases. Although they were always authentic, sometimes they felt the need to act a certain way to gain fans or show growth. Their early music talks a lot about their youth and their struggles with it, including debut struggles. Like you said they were teenagers and young adults so their music reflects the mindset they had back then. Don't let that make you think they weren't great lyricists from the start though, it's insane how good their early music is although they were so young.

Their albums shows each phase in their life. From edgy teenage boys, to curious/anxious young adults, and finally figuring out your inner self. I’d say that’s a rough example of chapter 1 of their music. I cant wait to see what they speak about in their music once they are back to working as a group. oh god im sorry but i have to add this lol: at some point once you're caught up with the basics of bts discography - it'll be nice to take a look at their albums chronologically and as a whole. you might have noticed that armys refer to different eras of bts: skool luv affair, hyyh, wings, love yourself, map of the soul, and be eras. if you take into consideration their ages and what they were going through during the writing process of these albums, it just makes sense - esp the school era. being in their teens and early 20s, most of the things they're concerned about are societal pressures to be a good student, school and young love, etc. so yeah, when you listen to albums as a whole you really get to experience the story they wanna tell. :D like you dont need to react to whole albums (although some channels do that); like you can do it in your own time and then maybe share your thoughts afterwards haha. this is probably wayyyyy into the future but im sure as musicians, you would appreciate how each album is a different story. ANYWAY love love love your reactions. istg your channel is the right mix of giddy, explosive reactions + commentary on musicality and lyricism.

In Kpop industry, they are given the role, position and personality by the company. It’s already decided. But V, he shows his genuine unique personality The company doesn’t like it but GP loves his unique bubbly personality. (As Jin mentioned before V is free-spirited and not listen to what Company said) V draws new fans new Stans to BTS becoz of his baritone vocal, unique and captivating facial expressions and his unique personality. People are curious. There is no one like him (Now Everyone copies him 😅) That’s why RM called V “Stan attractor”. V is still not company Fav and get mistreated a lot (mostly in earlier days). And also company tried to trademark ” Borahae/ I purple you” as their own but Korean officials rejected becoz it was V who created the phrase.The company worth Billions now from sucking money from BTS. But BTS themselves only worth 20millions networth each with Long successful career. Many ARMYs got manipulated by the Company. But this is the ugly truth.

Yes agree to the “everyone in BTS attract new people not only V”. But RM stated that V is the “stan attractor” not only by his face but mostly V has charisma. And all 6 BTS members agree to this. Polls and surveys attest to this. In one bon voyage episode(forgot the series, in case someone ask for evidence), i clearly remember RM and JK were talking about a worried Jk asking RM how will his GCF get views and RM told him “ let V be your subject (something like that), and you’ll get a million views” . So yeah Kim Taehyung is our stan attractor. Peace to all.
