When I read the lyrics for this during the album release, I was quite shocked about how straighforward they were with their lyrics. Even more shocked that they performed the song on live national television. Very bold of them, Id say, that's quite rare for a kpop group to really tackle or compose lyrics about political issues in the country. I salute them for this.
There's an older video of Namjoon rapping about this stuff and the voting thing in South Korea. It was something Namjoon was angry about and wanted it to change. I felt that anger since the beginning, now he's learned so much and can help other people change.
I agree. There never was a gimmick or trick that BTS was using. This is just them as themselves and talking about things they care for. That's why they are different. People are afraid of change and don't want BTS to do anything. They see BTS as a threat to everything, that's why the haters and people who don't understand them disrespect BTS so much. If BTS doesn't do something it's their fault and if BTS does something it's still their fault. That's why ARMY protects BTS so much. I feel like BTS are old souls that have experienced so much.
I often feel like BTS is hyper-aware of the power of their idol image and how people overlook them because of it. In performances where the songs are about touchy subjects, you see they tend to play up their image more. They present themselves as more pretty, more soft, more dolled up. Or they'll dance in comedic ways, make funny or playful faces for the camera, turn up the charms and cuteness factor. Add all of that to the fact that those sort of songs tend to sound very cute and playful or hype and trendy or just like your usual pop bop of the month. To the point where people who aren't paying attention closely enough will miss the contoversial messages and they can fly under the rader. But the rest will pick up on all of the deeper perspectives going on underneath the idol veil they use. Even for this song you saw clips of them looking cheeky with the camera like it's just another fun song that no one should worry about.

Everything you say is true. That's what captivated me about bts, good songs with not so visible depths, good intentions and values that I share. And the most important thing, they go hand in hand connected with their fans trying to break the mould...
And some people have the audacity to say horrible things about BTS and say they don't have good intentions. We want to see change then we have to do something. ARMY and BTS are breaking the mould :)
It’s honestly funny for me because I don’t speak Korean. So the first listen I’m like jamming out. Next I do the deep dive into the lyrics then I go thru that moment of guilt for jamming out. But I have found that is BTS. Put a deep & profound message with a beat. Not an OG Army but starting from their beginning until current I am Uber surprised at their strength. To see them so worried if people will like them. Hearing all the crap. Getting treated like crap. Yet here they are standing saying we are going to talk about the problems of the world. Just Wow!!! For BangPD to stand behind them saying you sing about what is important to you. I’ve got your back. It is just so inspiring. People love to look around & judge the world. What they don’t like is for someone to hold a mirror back at them. What’s mind blowing is that just a relevant as that song was then it speaks volumes now. Proving that BTS songs are timeless, ageless & can apply to people all over the world.
They are a good team; BangPD and BTS :) This is exactly what other people don't see before they actually listen to BTS's music. People don't see how different BTS really are and how amazing they have always been. (Even if they had little mistakes here and there, and learned from those mistakes.) BTS helped people change in a lot of ways and I admire them for that. They mean a lot to me 💜

Have you've seen Seo Taiji 25th time travalar feat. BTS singing/performing together? It is so good. When Seo Taiji & Boys did Come Back Home was so powerfull at the time. A lot of people returned to their homes because, of it. Seo Taiji and BTS performer it together at the concert. Was truly amazing (2017). BTS covered it too.
You are so true, not that I am against religious and practices, but that it does nothing. What is more important is your relationship and fellowship with the Lord, which should be something personal, not something to be commercialize. When it is being insanely commercialize, that's when you know that they dont actually care about your spiritual and overall well-being. Good point !
This is so funny, I watched this video 2 days ago. This song/video randomly popped up when I was watching something else on RU-vid. (I saw this video a few years ago and watched the meaning of it too.) But 2 days ago (October 15th), it's even weirder that I wrote down what I thought of the lyrics and meaning. I guess I intuitively felt like writing about it and earlier on that same day I read something on what's going on undercover South Korea. (It's like BTS are following me everywhere lol 😂) This is what I wrote down in my notes after I watched the actual video of this performance last Friday. BTS learned to hide things in their music well now. The art of subtlety. They are trying to distract from the real meaning of their music. Like with Jungkook and his song “My Time.” The way he was dancing and the sound of the melody was to distract from the real meaning of the song. Or with the track “Am I wrong,” from an outside glance it looks like they are talking about love, but in reality, it’s about the government’s treatment of people, and etc. The government over there is hiding things from the people in South Korea, it’s being covered up for “people’s protection.” It just hit me/occurred to me that BTS was hinting at it the whole time in their earlier music about the government and its laws. How bad they are. The government in its shady dealings and stuff. They are using idols and Kpop to distract from the real issues in South Korea. They are avoiding the issues by distracting themselves from life and its hardships. Edit: This is an oddly detailed coincidence I had, I don't know how else to explain this lol And I knew about the government stuff going on because I read about this stuff and saw videos on it before I found BTS back in 2010 and I saw the horrible things that go on with actual scandals. I agree some churches here are horrible, I can actually feel the deceit and stuff they do. I've been to one that had a full production and audience like it was a show or something. I was very disappointed, I was like what is this; are we here to pray or watch a show.
Have you reacted to their song Sea? It is a beautiful song. I believe it is a hidden track in one of their albums and not a lot of ARMY, especially newer ARMY, who don’t know about it.
