BTS has a storyline like Melanie Martinez but WAYYY more complex and in depth. I'm sure you'll love it if u decide to follow along so pls continue your journey!!
The short film is confusing even to fans, and it is part of a larger storyline that spans a few years known as the Bangtan Universe (BU). I imagine it's even harder for a non fan to understand since this is basically somewhere closer to the end of it. The Wings era itself is loosely inspired by Demian by Herman Hesse, a book about the loss of innocence and temptation, and the short films as well as the main music video, Blood Sweat and Tears, try to portray that based off imagery from the book. Also you were indeed correct, this was Jungkook's solo, all 7 of them having solo songs on this respective album (as well as some of the later ones). A minor suggestion if you will continue reacting to BTS, please consider the lyrics from doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/ since she has very good translations as well as footnotes if the lyrics include a reference that needs explaining or a specific Korean word or phrase that needs context or is just hard to translate directly. I apologize for the semi long comment and thank you for your reaction!
yeah it is a solo song by Jungkook of BTS. For the Wings album they all had solos: 1) Jungkook- "Begin" 2) Jimin- "Lie" 3) V- "Stigma" 4) Suga- "First Love" 5) RM- "Reflection" 6) J-hope- "Mama" 7) Jin-"Awake" BTS has a lot of creative freedoms to do solos or covers. The rappers even have separate mixtapes that they successfully release on the side.
Jungkook (the one who sings this song) is the youngest of the group. BTS debuted when he was 15 years old and he was very shy at the time. The members helped him get out of his shell, took care of him and guided him to become who he is now, they are like a family, that's why he dedicated his solo song in the album to them.
NOT YOU STARTING WITH THE WHOLE BTS UNIVERSE 😭😭😭😭😭 THE STORYLINE IS ACTUALLY SO DEEP AND LONG. The "BU" started with their first eras, and it has a deep and a fiction story behind. You can react to 'I NEED U', it was their first music video that started all of the theories behind this whole "BTS UNIVERSE" storyline. Let me tell you the fandom is a whole mess when it comes to all the theories 😭😭 Also the lead single of this album WINGS (their second studio album), it's called 'Blood, Sweat & Tears', you should react to it after the 7 short films, there are 7 solo songs in the album and BS&T is the group single. They also have a solo intro called 'Boy Meets Evil' that its also have a music video. Their concept is crazy, you would like them
I find it interesting that they recommended you this song and the short film out of nowhere this early on since it's just one member and in the middle of a bigger story. People usually recommend reactors to watch the solo songs and short films when they get involved with the Bangtan Universe... However, all the members had solo songs in the album "Wings", and there are 7 short films (one for each member, named after each of the solos). The short films were kind of made to "tease" the album and came before it was released, but they are very important because, as I said before, they are part of the storyline BTS has been working on for years (so it makes sense you don't understand it yet) If you want to get into the storyline, I recommend you leaving the solos in pause and start from the beginning, tho maybe it would be better if you knew their names and faces first, because they all have different storylines and symbolisms attached to them and you might get very confused :)
michele alee I’m less about trying to convert him to Army and more just honestly curious about what he thinks about the short films and solos. They’re what converted me to Army and I Really like Jersh’s approach to reviewing music. Very much a “I think this is Cool what do you think!?!?”
@@PrinceDuCiel7 Personally, I found the short films much more rewarding to watch when I watched the storyline from the beginning. I actually started at Wings Era myself, but it was only when I watched through in the proper order that I actually felt the gravitas of things. (Though, of course, I think him reacting to the /music/, in terms of the solos, is great. It gives a feel for each member's unique style.)
@@PrinceDuCiel7 but why show him something and get him straight into a storyline when he's not going to understand it? I really like the way he approaches analyzing the lyrics too, but I think the reaction would be even better if he knew them more as a band and people, specially since the solos are so personal. He might have more to say rather than giving it a superficial look, don't you think? 🤷♀️
michele alee Because the short films Can be seen alone. They’re symbolic to the larger stories themes. They also fit with the solo’s themes as well. It’s Wonderfully integrated content and Jersh isn’t giving them a shallow look either. He gives even media he isn’t prone to liking a fair chance. I find his going in blind approach Very insightful, as he isn’t predisposed to think along certain themes.
All the wings short film are a part of an ongoing storyline that goes with the songs. The storyline is fictional and there not part of their actually life. The story takes places in another universe as them just being normal group of friends, that go through tough situations. In the wings album, all the members got a solo song.
Since you already started with a BTS song not many recommend I'd really like to see your reactions to Heartbeat, Lights or Louder than Bombs by them :) Thank you for being open about their music.
I'm outspoken in my disdain for most pop music but its kpop and I'm here to support the channel so I'll give it a shot.. and I love that chorus.. so good.. the instrumental work is fantastic as well.. i much prefer this to the Black Swan song. If they have more as good as this Im all in.
Oh they do. Their B-sides and solo songs caught me harder than their singles honestly. Im going to be continuing to request the Wings solos if he doesn’t pick them up himself.
Short films are part of the BTS Universe Storyline. The BTS Universe means that through their MV’s they have created a fictional word and a story-line with the boys portraying fictional characters. 🌠 In order to understand the storyline you should watch MV’s in order: - I Need U (19+ Version) - On stage : Prologue (eng sub) - Run MV - ‘I Need U’ and ‘Run’ Japanese Versions - Epilogue : Young Forever - Wings Short films - Blood Sweat and Tears - Highlight Reel (full version) - Euphoria - Fake love - Epiphany MV
It’s SO interesting hearing your interpretation of the short film! I already knew the plot it was based on, so I spent my first watch Looking for those things. There’s six more short films plus their associated songs and Yes I’ll be requesting them all. 😂 Now to see what you think of the song itself.
You’re pretty spot on for the meaning of Begin. The only detail would be not knowing he is the youngest of the group. He basically admits the other members influence made him who he is as a person. He says 15 but his actual age was 13-14 when he joined the group. Just a baby really. I’m glad you liked it! Sorry I picked the auto tune heavy song first. To go back in time and pick On or Spring Day or Fake Love. 😂
Thank you for the reaction! Id love to see your reaction to the live performance - the dancing is really incredible and really shows off Jungkook’s ability to sing while dancing :)
Wow really surprise that you alredy reacting to this haha love it, but I think you should watch first some of their music videos as a group ( ex: fake love, ON, mic drop, boy with luv..) to get to know them better and then start the storyline line and the solo songs ☺☺
REACT TO DNA BY BTS, it just hit 1B views!! its veryyy colorful and the choreo is great. fake love by bts is also huge and GREAT, it ties into black swan and begin with the dark theme as well. ITS MUSIC VIDEO IS INCREDIBLE. its more hip hop too so im sure youd like it!!
I’ve been so tempted to request DNA cuz it’s my favourite MV And my favourite upbeat single... but I can’t help going for the Wings solos and short films.
The chorus to this reminds me slightly of SKRILLEX & DIPLO FT. JUSTIN BIEBER - WHERE ARE Ü NOW (2015) with the little musical flourishes. Each of the members having their own little solo songs remind me of PUSSYCAT DOLLS doing that as a second disc on the DOLL DOMINATION album (2008), although from the comments I get the impression with BTS its a bit more extensive with its own storyline of supplementary material.
You said you don't really like vocals effects, autotune etc, it would be interesting to see your reaction to Britney's Blackout album, from 2007. As Pitchfork wrote in a very positive review: " Blackout is a masterclass in autotune and vocal treatment as a studio instrument, disrupting and jamming the songs as much as it helps them. The effect is oddly sinister". The record was named by critics one of the most influential in pop music this century, mostly because of the use of filters, autotunes and electro effects... it gained a "cult status" and became a reference of this kind of production... so I wonder your opinions about it!
Advice: when you listen to a song without mv, you should watch color coded lyrics video. You will understand what they sing about and know who sings each part. And after lyrics video you could check the live performance of the song Good luck
I legit said this reminds me of Kingdom Hearts just before you did, Haha. Might be because of the Synthesizing with the soft vocals. PS. Agreed that the ending section of KH is pretty bad. I didn't seem to care about any of the characters at the end
Jersh! How are you doing man? Amazing reaction as always 👌🏻 Please react to "octavo dia live and off the record by shakira" And "illegal by shakira" Both are so beautiful , you won't be disappointed!
looool no there r so many better songs loool. If u want a nice song that has a music video, SPRING DAY, fake love, mic drop and moree. But definitely listen to spring day
Salvatore Ruggiero Do what you need to do to maintain your sanity in the face of such trial and adversity as voluntarily listening to a group you dislike. I salute your bravery.
