there's a lot of references to the movie black swan with natalie portman. the movie features natalie portman as a ballerina competing for the main role of the "good" white swan vs the "bad" black swan. the song is about the fear of losing your passion (being an artist). the lyrics are very deep and interesting. bts went through this identity crisis during the pandemic in 2020 and released this masterpiece.

Basically the song is about BTS and their fear of losing passion for the thing that's most important to them, making music and dancing. "Black Swan" is basically a "reboot" of "FAKE LOVE", which is what their album, "Map Of The Soul: 7" (released in 2020) is. The MV was filmed inside a 1930's broadway theatre in Los Angeles, which is a famous theatre in the area. There is a quote by Martha Graham that reads: "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful". This song is really one of my favorites, I also suggest reacting to "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" if you want! 💜
