Thanks. It is encouraged to have ones own interpretation. This one is coming of age theme. Concept derived from Damien by Hermann Hess. Bookish Theories has a good explanation too.
So your interpretation is correct but to add more bts context... This song is from the Wings album 2016. The album is based on Demian a short novel written by Hermann Hesse. It's about growing up and coming to realise the world isn't just good. Both good and bad exist in the world. So this song is about temptation and sin and coming across it in your youth. The quote by RM is from the book. There are 7 short film that are partially, based on the seven individual songs from the album also contain quotes from the book. (The short films are also partially based on the bts universe. So you need to check out the previous videos that come before it to understand the story) For an explanation video check this out because this is one of the best ones that do not get into the bts universe... but still explain the meaning of the video. Its by Don't worry I'm not afraid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tlgAUE6yjg.html
@Sobe W hey, i understand where you're coming from but we have to appreciate that everyone's journey to BTS is different. And what everyone perceive from a song or MV is highly subjective and personal, based on a lot of factors, including what they have learned about BTS up to this point. I watched all of their videos and became a patron and I think they're actually very quick and smart in catching up the substance of a song. Every reactors' style is different, so I think it's just a matter of taste and preference of us viewers.
@Sobe W All songs are open to the interpretation of the listener. Even when an interpretation is given by the writer of the song , we all have the ability to see different things in it. We all have things that that touch us and other things that don’t mean very much to us, l think they did a great job of understanding the song ( in their own way) for the first listen ,without any information about the song or the book it was based on.
I most definitely recommend watching "Blood Sweat & Tears: What Does it All Mean?" It helps explain a lot of things shown in this video! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tlgAUE6yjg.html&ab_channel=Don%27tWorryI%27mNotAfraid
GUYS YOU'RE RIGHT, WE'RE ABSOLUTELY ON THE CONTRARY OF HATE, IF YOU DON'T LIKE A GROUP JUST DON'T LISTEN TO THEM BUT PLEASE REACT TO HARDSHIPS 2013 - 2021 by xCeleste ITS A REALLY IMPORTANT VIDEO. AFTER THAT YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHY ARMY IS SO PROTECTIVE OVER BTS. 💜💜
Butter has been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 8 total weeks and Permission To Dance was #1 for 1 week last week. BTS have been #1 for 9 straight weeks and they’re the only artist in history to replace themselves at #1 in consecutive weeks.
Yeah, wings era is kind of special. You really should react to all the members solos, the short films etc. Its insane . Each member worked on their own solo number for the album, and they are really damm good. I especially think Sugas “first love” is one of the best things he has ever written.
I agree with you guys. Majority of the Bts army don't hate on other k-pop artists / idols, another majority don't support them . We are just protective and you may not really understand until you dive into BTS's hardships and struggles. ARMY and BTS is just like a huge family ,some are mature enough to let things go,some are resentful because of the past ,while some are very protective and will fight anyone that slights a family member whether it is from the past or present. If a particular group of people are behaving a certain way to a particular group of people just know that there is no smoke without fire.
For this one, the XCeleste explanation video is in my opinion the best. Love DKDKTV but hope you choose her explanation as it is very thorough and brings in a lot of the Western culture BTS is employing here.
No matter how you'd want to look into this video. Be it thru the Bangtan Universe, the message, or simply just the song/vibe, or the dancing or even just the visual..this song will always be a masterpiece. Thank you for the reaction
The storyline z based on Hermann Hasse's Demian. It's a boy's journey to overcome temptations. He can be both evil and good, only to realise the duality of life and the consequences of your action and choices. In the background not only you can find reference to Lucifer but also to Icarus's falling, last supper and selling your soul to the devil with a kiss.
I'm impressed you had any type of theory while watching....my first impression was ohhh look dancing, ohhh nice song, ohhhh wings. Good luck going through the explanation videos, you're brain may feel like it's going to break. I cant believe how smart some people are to figure out all the nuances in this video. Much respect. To the fan wars, you'll find its more the younger fans that engage in it. Puberty apparently really sucks when you have access to social media. Our fandom is so big that the 20% of young fans is huge.
You both are truly amazing when it comes to reacting and diving deeper with the lyrics even the visuals. BangPD encouraged the members to read books, and RM is an amazing bookish with a legit high IQ, genuis. Most of their songs are also inspired by what theyve read.
will y'all ever react to and analyze their storyline? i mean its a given since you're probably reacting to most of their music videos lol but im asking because this is actually a storyline video! it's fine if you don't analyze them as much because it's pretty confusing but honestly very entertaining :)
Exactly! I've seen many people just straight up ignore the storyline but if they really want to know more about BTS and get deeper into it they've got to know about the storyline bs that's one of the things that make BTS iconic
@@ZiahTV honestly i personally have more desire to watch a video series then a livestream (being from another country i always miss the time to see the lives too)
@@ZiahTV Video series is preferable I think but y'all can do the whole storyline explanation videos (one of 2019 and another of 2020) in livestream since those are pretty long and analyse how each of the songs are connected to the story line in the video series
'Boy Meets Evil' please please 🙏🏻 It's perform by J-Hope, it's a Masterpiece but yet underrated, and it has a connection with 'Blood Sweat and Tears' (BST) and it should be watched before BST
I really like both of u! Unlike other youtubers and so called "influencers" throwing hate against bts or their songs! Saying I don't understand what they're saying! Hello, subs?! And u guys are so intelligent to interpret the song based on ur understanding! Hitting 'like'! Don't ever give up like BTS!!!
the 'you' they mention here is the 'temptation' to stray from the right path which each youth has to face in his time. when devil tries to lure you from pure and truth and you are tempted to lose your innocence. you can watch the explanation video. this whole thing is based on the book 'Demian" by Herman Hesse. at first you see an older member with a younger member then you find Jin looking at the painting which is a reference to something i dont really remember, and there is a black and white door on either side of it, which is obvious. you also see the two statues at the back.... one of an angel and the other of a devil. this whole video is like a masterpeice and the explanation video is worth looking into. love your reactions. looking forward to more
@@candicesmith-mackenzie6303 iconic girl!!!!! so true :-);-);-) they are the kings!!! i hope new reactors stop comparing them to other artist.... evrytime they check out a new video they are like,.... this sounds like him...this gives me that vibes...... no offence to to u ziah tv..... this is just a general comment about other reactors who are new to bts
I was wondering when someone was gonna explain the doors and the statues I was really hoping they'd get to that it's kind of hard for them because they're doing these out of order. Which is OK if they just enjoy BTS but it's also confusing for them
@@brenda6466 these things are really difficult to get at once...even I noticed the statues when i watched it for the 12th or 13th time....... its alright ... we are there....and I explain it to reactirs who show interest behind the meaning if the video and lyrics....but some are there who i dont think even enjoy the music just bop their head to show extra enthusiasm.....may b its me but i find some new reactors not authentic..
You guys should check out the dance practices for every song. The dance practice for this is so satisfying to watch. The choreo & their execution is to the T! 🤗
Loved the TED Talk today haha. This is what I like about you guys, you always find a way to discuss different aspects of life in connection to BTS songs and whatever is in their music videos.
As Annie Apurba stated below it's based on Demian by Hermann Hesse about a young man growing into adulthood and facing those temptations. Also the painting that Jin is looking at in the beginning is called Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Bruegel. I really loved how you still understood it without quite knowing that you understood it. "Angelic and ethereal" RM is quoting Demian. JK in the swing is an Icarus reference. V does represent Lucifer and J-Hope shooting the arrow has meaning which I forget right now. I love that you brought the creativity aspect into this. The devil (through other people) can be the one whispering in your ear to give up. Interesting. 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
You guys are great. Thank you for taking the time to try to understand what BTS is all about. I’m 70 years young and listen to all types of music, but there has been a genuine connection with BTS and there message to the world. My grandaughter and both my grown daughters introduced them to me in 2017 and opened me up to more international artists. These 7 young men will always resonate with me because of their genuine sincerity and dedication to their art. My girls have taken me to see many Kpop groups that toured the states and each group offers there own gifts. We are waiting for concerts to continue. I am holding tickets to the last tour that was postponed due to you know what, but am looking forward to seeing them perform on stage. I still listen to the rock, heavy metal, R&B etc. from my era, but also explore all the new artists of this generation. I don’t want to miss anything in the music world. Music has always been important for my mental health. Thank you and all the best with your channel.
I’ve always associated this video with Christopher Marlowe”s play Dr. Faustus which tells the story of a man making a deal with the devil to reap riches, regardless of the consequences. There’s also a Midas motif too. BTS” metaphors and symbolism and literary references set them apart from any group I’ve ever known.
Causality. Cause and Effect. Action-Reaction. There is a backstory to everything, i.e. ARMY being wary of other fandoms. It's beyond simply fanwars. It's a unique underdog story. One day, you'll understand why ARMY are protective of BTS. Kudos to both of you for your thoughtful reviews/reactions. It's always great to see reactors going deeper (& analytical) - beyond the superficial, yet prevalent, stereotypes on musical genres & global musicians. 💜
there's several ways to say "more" in Korean, "manhi" generally means "a lot" but can also be used like this, "do" is a more common way to say "more" or "again"
wow 35mins. Let's go! Edit: Ok, all I remember when I tried analyzing the song and the music video is it's about temptation and giving in to that temptation. I also read somewhere that I think Suga expressed it is about the pain of addictive love (correct me if I'm wrong ARMY). There's so much things going on in the BST mv like the painting ("The Fall of the Rebel Angels"), the quote RM said during the song break (w/c is from Herman Hesse's book "Demian"). I think someone already shared a link to the explanation. If you guys are interested in analyzing what's going on the music videos, might as well get into the Bangtan Universe in order :) I think you'll be mind-blown. P.S. I agree. yes to reasonable criticism, no to unnecessary hate (tbh, it's just a waste of time). Thanks for reacting!!
All their songs are related to all of them or any individual member. The joys, struggles, the way they are being discriminated and looked down upon, and hardships they have encountered in life as a group or as an individual. They are one making and composing their songs. Your have to know them before you can relate to their songs.
Detailed explanation and universe/storyline aside, you guys managed to get the essence of what they were trying to say with this song & MV, without actually noticing the numerous amount of intricate visual details and easter eggs in this MV. Therefore, KUDOS to you guys for catching up on that embracing darkness-light, yin yang idea!! The first time I watched the MV I was lost, too focused on jin's visuals and jimin's exposed shoulders to notice anything 🤣
There is an storyline(BTS universe) which this song is a part of. You can just watch them without following it but their storyline make it much more amazing. Also there are explanaition videos that you can watch a long with the MVs. I know it start with "i need you" mv
Thanks for taking your time today! I thought it was interesting in the opening scene when Jin is looking at the painting that his skin looks so translucent like he is as fragile as Porcelain. I think that is why he is so susceptible to the temptation of the statue. While everyone else seems to have awareness, Jin moves like he is under the spell that Suga spoke of
Whoa, 78%? I know we do like you guys. Hopefully you get more subs because you do show respect for the boys work. Thanks 😊 💜 SO HAPPY YOU GUYS DIDN'T GIVE UP AND I FOUND YOU!👍
you guys are such amazing thinkers. i admire your ability to analyse and interpret in so many diverse ways. i think BTS has so much meaning which is why i admire them so much. i'm so happy that you guys devote your time to their art. it makes me so happy. i learn so much from watching your videos and honestly the interpretations you make get me thinking. i love it !! keep it up !!
You guys might have to do the explanation video on this one. The song and video are based on the novel Demian by Herman Hesse, and although I only read the Wikipedia synopsis of the book it’s all about growing up and facing temptation and loosing your innocence. Essentially the fight between good and evil and the eventual realization that we all have both in each of us. But there are several explanation videos that go into the symbolism of the minute details, and believe me there is no detail of this video that wasn’t on purpose to mean something. It’s one of their most intricate music videos.
I hope you watched the rest the mv (there was more to it)? Loved the reaction anyway. Always interesting to hear the interpretations this song and mv provides - I've heard sooo many different ones. I think you're gonna love the explanation video (fan theory). The interpretation of this mv can be seen as a stand alone, but it will be interpreted slightly different as part of the BU - which is SOO cool. You'll see later if you do the BU. I'd recommend watching/reacting to Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid's explanation video of Blood Sweat & Tears (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tlgAUE6yjg.html).
So...now you know...BTS is not really K-pop. They don't fit any category. They are artistically and lyrically masterful geniuses. They are one of a kind. They are special. They are The Best in my opinion!!! So...no comments on their stunningly exquisite choreography???? No one dances like BTS. Their skill is unmatched! Their choreography is The Best!!! "I really want to know what it means". What other music group...what other song....what other MV makes you ask these questions? That is the pure raw intelligence this video portrays. Who does this??? Only BTS. I repeat ...only BTS!!!! They have the biggest fan base. Why? Because we are all highly intelligent creative compassion individuals journeying through this life searching for truth. Their content challenges us to think, to be, to ask, to question. We are not just teenybopper crazy screaming fans....however not to exclude those who love and adore their cuteness and adorableness and handsomeness, but we like BTS's quest. In fact, we love and crave it. It helps us on our journey to the light. What does it mean? Exactly. It's like a poem assigned to us in English class. Something we've never heard before. This is BTS. Something we've never heard before!!!!
Bookish theories blood sweat and tears explanation of the video would give you great perspective. Don't worry Im afraid have the best explanation as well. So far your explanation of the lyrics are my favorite. The creativity breaking through is definitely the part about the wings and v.
Hey Guys, to identify the storyline MV's, a lot of the older videos will detail 'BU content certified by Big Hit Entertainment' in the description. This is in the middle of the storyline and may have spoiled it for you guys. Thanks for reacting anyway. :)
Reading some of the comments, I understand where you're coming from, but I think we have to appreciate that everyone's journey to BTS is different. What people perceive from a song or MV is highly subjective and personal, based on a lot of factors, including what they have learned about BTS up to a certain point. I watched all of their videos and became a patron and I think they're actually very quick and smart to catch on to the substance of a song. Every reactors' style is different, so I think it's just a matter of taste and preference of us viewers. Some reactors first pay attention to the visuals in MVs, for which I dont blame them, because hey, I did that too before I went on a deeper dive. Some vibed to the music. Some paid attention to the lyrics, because maybe it was already made known to them that BTS songs are best appreciated through their lyrics. Personally, I like to watch reactors to see how they view a song or MV based on where they are in the BTS journey. It's very interesting to see them evolve in the process, it's kind of like reliving my early BTS journey (music>>visuals>>lyrics>>wanna know the members>>rabbit hole)
@@mydogblowsbubbles 💜 i wouldn't want anyone pressuring me on what to do, think, or feel when enjoying something. BTS' songs can tug at different parts of your heart, or your mind, it's unique from one ARMY to another. It's just the beauty of discovery. We're not walking bangtanpedia starting from day 1, right? And we don't need to be to show support and love for the boys & the fandom. Sorry for the rant. Borahae 💜
Great reaction! You definitely should do an explanation video because there is so much more to this video- all the artwork and sculptures have meaning. Throughout the video, you see black and white doors in the background, angel and demon sculptures. This is probably my favorite BTS video because of how deep it goes.
I truly enjoyed your interpretation of this video. It kind of adds to the symbolism I already noticed in reference to the work that RM based it on. One of the reasons I keep coming back to see you guys is because you broaden my mind. Thank you
Me: has notifications on for this channel cuz I like. Me today: wow how weird I haven't seen a video from ZiahTV in a few days -.- *searches channel* *Missed two videos* Me: WTF RU-vid x')
Fyi there is a really cool video of BTS reacting to this video themselves, first time they saw it (with English subs ofc). It shows all of their personalities so well, it's fun to see them reacting to parts of the video that even they weren't aware of lol
I was literally just thinking about wanting to see this reaction from you guys while I was driving. This was a great video. I hope you guys do a video series on the BTS storyline some day. That would be awesome.
Did you know that most of their music videos has an explanation and are interconnected? I suggest you watch bookish theories coz I like how she explains them and how they are connected and also the books they use as references.
wow half an hour reaction.. But i still watch it though. Thanks for loving our boys' masterpieces guys.. How about reacting to RM's United Nations speech.. Thanks again
Finally! An intelligent and respectful review! Too many others are surface only & in it for the clicks. I have watched you two before & appreciated your comments but this post is the one that made me click Like & Subscribe.
I absolutely LOVE your interpretation of the song. The video belongs to the BU and the interpretation related to the BU is completely different to your interpretation but I think both interpretations are very valid and beautiful on their own. You made me see a different side of a song I deeply connect to, thanks for that ^.^
This live performance is my favorite. The choreo is so creative and just special. It’s so unlike anything else out there. (Until Fake Love and Black Swan) Also, I’m really enjoying your reactions, and I don’t know how I haven’t seen them until now. I was at their first live show in 2013 in Korea and I was at 2 of their last shows at SoFi. I am hardcore army until I die. I’ve seen just about every video and reaction known to man lol. You guys are so genuine though. You think so deeply and I can see the emotions. I’ve noticed how happy you are and how much things move you. It’s not hard to see when it’s authentic and you’re the real deal. Thank you for having the respect for these boys that they deserve. It makes me proud of them even more. Also, I’m Korean. English is my third language. If you ever don’t understand anything, don’t hesitate to ask. Translations aren’t always accurate because some words don’t have direct translations so the subtitles don’t make sense or don’t have the same impact. I always try to explain things in a more realistic way than the generic translations. I can also fill in some cultural gaps because korean culture and references may be lost on western countries.
More is 많이 (manhi) - better translation is "a lot" references - Herman Hesse "Demian", Carl Yung, Bible, etc - it's about temptation and loss of childhood innocence and how everyone has to make that choice and face the consequences of those choices that they make. But your interpretation is valid too... that's the great thing about BTS - you get what you need from the song - and that need can change over time.... self interprtation and application to our own lives is encouraged. .... watched to the end - you didnt give us an emoji to post... borahae💜
Thank you for reacting to this! You did such a good job with it. Loved your interpretation! Also, everyone has already said it but I'll also say it. If you want to understand the references please react to "What Does it All Mean?" by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid. It will blow your mind I promise
Loved the reaction! I rarely comment but I just want to say your reactions are fun to watch with your discussions and takes on the songs and videos. If you guys decide on digging deeper into older songs, maybe you could try Hip-Hop Phile/Lover. The rap line cite their inspirations as well as how they started. It's a good song to see how deeply rooted BTS is into hip-hop. Here's a live performance with English subtitles: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a_3KCRAYAFQ.html
Because you’re not watching MVs in order, it’s gonna be kind of hard to put stuff together. Cause I noticed that a lot of what you focused on until the end was the lyrics, which are important, but the visuals are especially important in this one and many others. I enjoyed your reaction, but I’d definitely recommend watching some explained/theory videos on BS&T as well as watching the videos leading up to it, then come back to it.💜
Plus, I think you got a little hyper focused on the “passion” interpretation. It IS a good interpretation, but I feel as if you didn’t allow yourselves to think about other options once you’d decided on that one.
Beautiful how you make the connection to your own lives, and ours. You have some wise words! Positive message! 👼 ------ Something completely different: from a behavioral-scientific point of view it's not smart to say "the majority of the people does not subscribe". It sets a social norm: if you're not subscribing, you're not weird, you're part of the majority. I see a lot of ytbers do that. Instead you have to figure out why people don't subscribe, and focus on that. They don't know that they aren't, you said it yourselves, could be one of the reasons; then you could address that. Or people don't want a load of channels in their feed; then you could let people take baby steps, say "just hit the like button for now, you can always subscribe later" or "subscribe, and maybe later hit the notification bell". People usually want to be consistent, when they say A, they want to say B. If you hit like, you start to be committed already. Just saying. Also, if you want to advance the video slowly, you can use > on the keyboard (so shift + .>) That was my TEDtalk for today 🙈 Bye! 🏃♂️
I’m trying to be so politically correct but I don’t know how. Us not watching your bp reactions doesn’t mean we’re hating. We’ve just heard them before 🤷🏻♀️ I used to love them and then I watched an interview where It made me not so I can’t connect anymore. I hope there’s no Armys hating in the comments but sadly there’s bad seeds everywhere. I’m only commenting this because you mentioned it in a BTS video and it felt weird. We’re not all the same 💜
Same! I actually really like Boombayah for my jogging track. Then I tried listening to other tracks but they just don’t click with my taste, and hence don’t watch reactions to them. Which I think is fine, it’s everyone’s personal taste right?
Yeah I tried to listen to BP before and some of the are pretty good but they really don’t connect to me but I definitely don’t hate them at all 😊 I heard some of the other reactors have to stop reacting to BP coz blinks are typing a lot hateful comment about BTS 😓 but just like you said there are always bad seeds in every fandom 💜
