Omg we're near the Wings era. Even though we still have one or two episodes till there, I'll say it now: The Wings era was my first BTS comeback, and it was the craziest comeback I have ever experienced with them till this day. Get ready because the Wings era is kind of a tornado. Wings is one of their best and most personal albums, and the sequence, You Never Walk Alone, has BTS' biggest, most respected and considered by everyone as their best song not by personal taste, Spring Day, or the Queen of their discography. Also get ready to cry! Ps: It was also their biggest jump in popularity, Wings was the era that made them a real threat to everyone else in the Korean industry, making them competitors to the title of one of the biggest acts there.
The wings era is to date their most iconic era for a reason. Not one flop on the albums, not one bad photoshoot or music video. Lyrics are as philosophical as you can get as far as music goes, and not one stereotypical boy band song. Whether you like the songs or dont like them, you have to admit the wings era is one of their best so far.
I was like you too. I dismissed them as just another poppy boy band with nothing really to say. I got sick right before Covid became a thing and I got curious after seeing one MV. I was that person that I was just going to find out their names and I got sucked in. I don't regret it.
same for me and at the same time hehe. my first song was idol and i was hooked i watched all performances of it and i notice jimin and i wanted to see him dance more so i checked other songs and i could not believe that they didn't have a single bad song. i thought okay i just watched their hit songs, but B tracks might not be as good. but omg some of my favorites are b tracks. and the more you find out about them the more amazing they become. i had heard a few kpop songs before bts but it was to much for my taste. but bts was different i could not get bored of there songs. and i never thought i would like a rap song but i just love it when bts does it they make every verse special with unique flow
I absolutely love this performance. Whoever put these 4 voices together is a musical genius because they are perfection when they sing together. What comes next with the Wings album will knock your socks off and it is a steady climb up from there. If you think they can't get better....
Isn’t the live performance fabulous? I always find it so incredible that they sound better live than on the albums. Not that I wished for you to have streaming problems but it did allow me to see this reaction since I can’t seem to figure out Twitch. And if you like this, I can’t wait to see your reaction the Love Yourself and Map of the Soul eras. Those hit me hard. I’m 57 and yet BTS is teaching me so much about how to love myself. Can't wait for WINGS. It was one of the best eras of BTS. “ I need you “ showed that they exist, but WINGS put them on the map. It brought them their first Grand prize(artist of the year) and with that brought on an avalanche of haters and whole new problems. Their newer albums have been getting better (MoTS7, BE), but wings was the turning point. It's a very special album.

Glade you got the BU cars concept. House of cards was actually a backing track for the BU. Which gives a little bit of more concept about what their cards meant to Jin and why V and Suga had something to do with them falling.
The only thing before the Wings album is The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, which is basically a compilation of part 1 and 2 but there are 3 new songs and some remixes then it’s the Wings album. And since you’re watching the Rise of Bangtan, we don’t get to the Wings era until chapter 12.But I’m sure the dream team will let you know.

House OF Cards is such an iconic and amazing song as I have never skipped it on my spotify list. This song is the type of song that i would imagine being in a drama or film like 50 Shades. The vocal line have such amazing and powerful vocals, that make you feel the emotion in your heart and you can just hear the emotion in their voices when they sing. Jimin’s, Jin’s, Jungkook’s and Vs vocals go really well with eachother and they each bring something different yet suttle to the song. So basically in my opinion this song House Of Cards is such a mood and a bop which makes me feel a certain way (if you know what i mean). Also this song has was way of being sensual yet dark and mysterious at the same time. Also the backing vocals makes this song feel even more intense and you can really feel the song and the melody of it right in your heart. Also the live performance blew me away so much as just seeing their faces full of emotion made the song ten times better. Also this song has to be one if not the most beautiful and majestic songs by BTS. Also i dont know what its called but i love Jungkooks ‘dobidobidoo’ bit half way through the song as you can really hear the emotion behind it as Kookie’s voice is just so beautiful for this type of song. Also i love the way they always put Jimin and Jungkook together to sing certain parts as their voices match perfectly with each other and sound amazing together. Also i love Jimin’s voice in this song as its just so beautiful and majestic and i could talk about his voice all day (as he is my ultimate bias). Also i could listen to the vocal line all day everyday and never get tired of hearing their voices, its like in this song they are serenading me and making me fall for them even more than i can. I just love the vocal line so much and talk all day about how and what they make me feel but i have to keep it PG here. Also i can understand you saying you are literally melting in your seat right now cause i melt everytime i listen to this song, this is just how the vocal line makes us armys feel all the time. I also love Jimin’s and Jungkook’s highnote aswell and i love how they slow it down then getting more passionate and same i live this song song much i cant explain how this song makes me feel in words.

If you have the time, it would be amazing if you get to read the book "Demian" by Herman Hesse before listening to Wings, is not a long book (i read it in 2 days) and is crucial to truly understand the album and the videos.

You're gonna love Young Forever and You Never Walk Alone. Epilogue Young Forever and Spring Day are high tier and classic songs. Spring Day is still on Korean Charts. It has never left since it was released (and it was released in 2017 so Queen Spring Day is still going!)

Yoongi said once "if you listen to our music without prejudice, you would like it"... and I stand by that. Music is subjective, but BTS make music about such universal topics that someone have to be tone deaf to life to not have those lyrics resonate with them. Trust me, we know people who are shitting on BTS about how they are bubblegum pop band are people who didn't listen anything beyond Dynamite. We used to get angry, now we laugh at their prejudiced ignorent self. I am happy that you took time to explore BTS and I hope BTS's music is bringing you comfort.
This song can be my all time fav BTS song. It hits totally different. Lyrics, music, the way they sing it. 5:56 a big YES. Jimin, he puts all himself to this and it shows up so perfectly, full of feeling. And this performance makes me high 🤭
First off don't apologize for the stream you do not control the weather ;) it's really good solution to do it like this and the reaction was well worth the wait. I think it's safe to say you've joined us in the ARMY. HYYH is such a lovely album series and a important step forward for BTS. And like you say people who dismiss BTS never really gave them a chance, one doesn't have to like every song but if one think they are just bubble gum pop then they haven't really heard much of their music, Suga once said "you'll like BTS music if you listen with out prejudice" :)
Thank you posting this so quickly and excited by this one! Music just keeps getting better I swear! House of Cards is the first live video that left my jaw dropped at how phenomenal they were especially with the live band. Keep in mind how sweaty and tired they are from having finished a big dance set right before this so they have even better vocal performances than this one in Tokyo.

Sometimes as a fan when I encounter someone who says “BTS? That boy and? You like them?” I have to take a deep breath because just like them and you, I was that person too not too long ago. It seems such a shame that their artistry is being obscured by all the superficial generalizations about them but I know that their music and art will stand the test of time because their music is so layered with meaning lyrically and musically. I'm obsessed with BTS 'House of card'. It's a song that I listen to many times but never skip when it turn up again during shuffle. It's so melancholy and bitter sweet. Like the most beautiful moment that end tragicly, but you're still glad that it happened since you get to experience those fleeting moment while it last. I also prefer the studio version for this song because I love that cello sounds that's more prominant in the studio version.
This has always been one of my favourite BTS tracks - the whole vibe is so different to “Kpop”. You are right - they have never been afraid of exploring other genres and including them in their work. I would say I listen to this song every single day and have since the album was first released. I never get sick of it and the live performance is on another level - the whole set up, so classic - no frills - it’s all about the vocals. Love it!
I fell in love with BTS I listened to all of their music and yes they have evolved House Of Cards I love I feel like the water drop sound maybe tears. Can't wait til the next Rise of Bangtan episode and for you to get into Wings era! Also, "better than the studio recording" is a common phrase among BTS songs. People like to say that they eat CDs. They literally ARE the CD. The difference is that, unlike a CD that is permanent and unchanging, the use of their voices and vocal technique continues to grow the more they sing.

This is one of my absolute favorites Live. There is another one with English subtitles too that's also as good as this. Sad I don't have Twitch. I love BTS and just discovered them last year.
When you get to the Wings album, the Rise of Bangtan will need multiple episodes just to dive deep into this album. I don’t if you’re still planning on doing one episode at a time or breaking up your album reaction in parts so you can stay in line with the episodes, but either way- buckle up!

It is scat. And JK performed it beautifully. House of Cards is primarily written by Bang PD who famously loves jazz ballads and scatting. He's a big fan of Ella Fitzgerald.
I had watched their concerts in bluray. Some of them are their tours in Japan, Korea and one in UK. In my opinion, the sound and video quality of their Japan concerts are better. Look for clips took in Japan if you could.
