Reminder to help: This is the BU so it's actually not about a girl, infact the original lyric was supposed to be "I need you friend", but Namjoon decided that "I need you girl" sounded better overall.
Yes, this is the beginning of the BTS Universe, and the videos tell a slightly different story than the song. I would say that the words "I need a friend" are more appropriate here than a girl. It's quite a dramatic and very serious story that touches on many mental issues. This year, a series based on this Universe was released. All the stories that are told in it are fictional and have nothing to do with the life of BTS. The story is told in such videos: "I need you", "The Prologue", "Run", in the short films Wings and the songs that are mentioned there, and in the video "Forever Young" you can also see small hints of the Bangtan Universe.
Welcome to the BTS Universe, now I will explain what you saw. These are 6 young men that are in the midst of huge trauma, they are a representation of the things kids go thru even though adults may think it is not important. In Korea adults think that kids have it easy, they don't have to deal with adult things so they should just go to school and do well. No way can kids have depression and PTSD and OCD those are all adult things. So the story line up to now is this is 7 high schoolers who meet in school in detention because they were all late in the morning. Even though they are all in different grades, they become good friends because of their personalities and so you see Suga and Jungkook becoming close over music, J-Hope and Jimin over dancing, V and RM because they are the most responsible but feel they need to be kids still and then there is Jin the oldest. Suga struggles with depression and OCD because his mother died, probably did it herself and Jungkook is also depressed because his mother remarried and his stepbrother is a bully and no one in the family notices or cares. J-Hope was left alone by his mother in a park when he was very young with only a snicker and Jimin was in a park when he saw a child being hurt (bad), and felt guilty for not saying anything even though he was just a child himself so he ran. RM is caring for his family because his father is sick and his mother cares for him so that leaves RM to provide money and go to school. V is in the middle of a domestic abuse situation, his father is always drinking and beats his sister and him so then you saw the end result in this. Each young man is going thru a rough time but when they are together they are happy. They need each other to feel normal and to have a family they can rely on. Jin is on the outside looking in, he comes from a wealthy family and wants to help each of them but doesn't know how. That is the beginning of this story. If you watch each of the solo songs from the members you will see in their videos a longer version of their stories.
the lyrics was supposed to be "i need you friend" but they changed it to girl as it sounds much better than friend. if you want to deep dive with BU, there's a video titled "BTS HYYH On Stage: Prologue" that is a must watch before you watch the Run MV. but if you're not deep diving with BU yet and just the MVs, it's not needed to watch. note: there's actually a kdrama released just this year titled "begins ≠ youth" inspired by the BU and it was so good and the actors portrayed the members very well.
There is a series that premiered at the beginning of this year, its called BEGINS ≠ YOUTH and it covers all the BU storyline, its worth checking once you watch all the BU related material
Hi Peachy! Welcome to the BU, another rabbit hole itself (mv's, short films, books, webtoons and even games !) I really like the BU cuz the story is very complexe but the message is so simple and meaningful. And don't worry, there is some guides to help you if needed ^^ I need U, girl should have been I need U, chingu (friends) but i's sounded weird, so RM changed it to girl. And yes, this mv is something else, was also shoked the first time! But it's legendary (and their very first win in a show!!!!) Next is DOPE and next BU is ON STAGE PROLOGUE then RUN ^^
I need u is the story of going through adolescence, where often you grow up attached to the only things you know, even if they are bad for you, like V with his abusive alcoholic dad, love u, hate u. This can mirror a relationship with a girl, fitting the lyrics but also so many other negative situations, family trauma, bullies, poverty even drugs or alcohol. You have so many conflicting emotions as a young person and often tend to struggle privately with it, where true friends can be a great solace in these times. But one of the key messages is that we often struggle alone and many people struggle with even darker things that they hide, feeling that everything is out of our control when we are young, often blaming ourselves for what we actually have no say in, giving us the feeling in every moment that our life is on the line, that we can't do it anymore. The BU is about the journey of whether we should let trauma and personal struggle define who we are. Although it's a fictional storyline, the stories in the music match the feelings of what BTS was going through at the time, they were young pushing through hate, being away from family, struggling with identity and purpose, away from family. Their lyrics throughout the BU are messages they wrote to and about themselves even if the story is fictional, the music carries true sentiment. I highly recommend listening to the song INTRO: The most beautiful moment in life Pt. 1. Their albums are set up with songs like chapters in a storybook. This song, the intro, really sets the tone of what the feeling of the album is and does it so well. Highly recommend.
You may want to carry on just generally watching their videos, listening to their tracks and getting to know them more for now. I would save the BU for later.💜
GIRLLL BU IS A HARD JOURNEYYY.. IT'S REALL NOT EASY, IT'S REALLY COMPLEXED (BUT EXTREMELY WELL DONE) YOU GOTTA BE MENTALLY STRONG & PREPARED TO GET YOURSELF INTO IT😭😭 You can watch full explanations videos for the BU later if you don't wanna dive deep yourself bcs It's actually a lot more deeper than just the MV's, it goes down to webtoons, the notes, short films, prologues, bts world games and NOW it also has a kdrama called "BEGINS ≠ YOUTH" made over this BTS fictional storyline, even tho only 1st season has been released this year. SO YEAH we'll def. be down to see you watch the BU explanation video later when you want to explore that!!
Ohmygod watching you react to this, idk why but I almost got choked up watching the I Need U MV again 😭😭 maybe it's because knowing already what happened in this storyline - what happened to the boys' characters, their relationships, what they went through and how many sacrifices and losses were there, it never fails to make me emotional 😭🥹 the BU storyline is very dear to me. It's scattered all around their contents: from webtoons, highlight reels, short films, and even 'HYYH Notes' that they used to post on twitter accounts solely made for this story. And this kept on going for years (as far as I'm aware, it's still not finished and will be kept going) (Fun fact: there is a kdrama based on this BTS storyline! The characters were the same but held different names in the series - and some plot points were changed but overall, it follows this story :)) Experiencing this story is such a great ride, and I hope you enjoy & love it as much as all of us did :,) 💗
I cry every time. I so hate to see them upset or going through stuff. I so love when they are together and have each other's back. Thank you for your reaction.
Jin, V and Jungkook are 5' 10" tall. Jimin and Suga are 5'9" and RM is almost 6' tall. And Jhope is same as JK, 5' 10" tall. My bias is always Jungkook! *blush* 😊 👍 Love your sincere reactions Miss Peachy! 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜
Girl at like every time I thought "you're not ready for what's about to happen, omg" cause I watched this mv like 2 minutes after it was released and I SOBBED
Welcome to the BU. There are guides that you should watch to follow their stories. Jungkook is not short he is tall. Jimin is short. This is alot more than a breakup.
The BTS BU is very long and very entertaining because the MV's are intertwined and you can build a story with them practically here Jin can travel in time and will try to save each one of them but there is always a price to pay
Speaking of amazing MVs telling a story, I highly recommend “Love Wins All” by IU. She’s got an amazing voice and is also an accomplished actress, and she had V costar in the video with her. I don’t want to give anything away but yeah, you feel like you’ve watched an entire movie in the span of a few minutes. 💜💜💜
This could be considered as a "Break up" song but not specifically between/about 2 genders.. this can be about the hardships between any kind of relationships or even friendships, Also the actual lyrics were suppose to be "I need u FRIEND" but as "Girl" is more fitting than "Friend" so they went with "I need u girl" for the song, but consider it as i need u FRIEND. 10:41 ALSO, that person was that girls father (not the man😭) & those were taehyung's sister & abusive father in the FICTIONAL storyline (SOPRY FOR THE SPOILER I JUST HAD TO😭)
Welcome...to the BU...Bangtan Universe! There are about 30 mvs through about albums, that contain the" Fictional" storyline of BTS members. And explanatory videos for your for your exploding brain when you finish. Good luck, and thank you,you are so sweet to watch and funny😊💜🫡
Welcome to the Bangtan Universe and HYYH Era.. We will be celebrating HYYH Era’s 10th year in 2025, I hope you can deep dive into this rabbit hole to prepare yourself for next year.. 💜💜💜
It's not a break up song or even about a girl...lol. "Friend" got replaced by "girl" because Namjoon thought it sounded more pleasing to our ears...so more audible music wise. Yes, this is the beginning of the BU (Bangtan Universe) their ongoing fictional storyline. 💜 Yes, a completely new layer to what BTS gift us with.
BU is very complicated and interesting story. I thought you may need the order of the BU storyline, but the time Bts released them are not in this order. So you can listen to the songs/albums in order, then, watch the bu storyline order. Bangtan Universe Albums The Most Beautiful Moment in life pt. 1, pt.2, young forever: I need U (original ver) 'HYYH on stage: Prologue' Run I need U (Japanese ver) Run (Japanese ver) "Epilogue: Young Forever" Note: Is important to notice the pairs between the members, 2+2+2+ 1(Jin) Wings Album: Intro Boy Meets Evil Short Film #1: Begin Short Film #2: Lie Short Film #3: Stigma Short Film #4: First Love Short Film #5: Reflection Short Film #6: MAMA Short Film #7: Awake BTS Live Trilogy Episode III Wings Tour Blood Sweat & Tears Blood Sweat & Tears (Japanese ver) Webtoon "Save me" tels the story more clear and heartbreaking Albums 'Love Yourself Trilogy': #1 'Love Yourself Highlight Reel' #2 'Euphoria: Theme of Love Yourself Wonder' Fake Love Teaser 1 Fake Love (mv) Fake Love (Extended Ver) Epiphany Note: This album has notes from the members, this is part of the BU too. - Film Out (just theory about BU) BU story (a game abt the story, but sadly it’s disconnected now) Begins youth (k-drama) bts&the company have released k-drama about BU this year. But i suggest watching it after learning abt BU, cuz it’s soo confusing😭
From this point on some MVs will be part of the BU and some won't. If in doubt or you want to know beforehand, you can look in the description under the video - if it is, it'll say BU content. The storyline is VERY dark yet hopeful but also VERY confusing. If you want the "cheat sheet", xCeleste has made a great summary. It's about an hour but it's well worth watching considering it'll give you a whole new level of understanding of their MVs and appreciation for their artistry. And an hour is nothing considering that the BU stretches across a ton of MVs, short films, books, a webtoon and even a mobile game. I highly recommend it. 💜
V was k/lling his step father who used to abuse his sister the other girl was his sister.. This video is part of a storyline BU where each characters is suffering from some trauma
If you need to know ALL about the BU just watch XCELESTE 'S updated guide to it. There's also a KDrama adaptation to it called BEGINS≠YOUTH. Its amazing but of course it doesn't include everything.
I don't know if it's good or bad but I always avoided BU, I find it too sad even if it's fiction. However, I'm a fan of the OST. Songs like "All night" (It can make you blush lol) and Dream Glow are great. As always great reaction!!
@@Chesandrix but those OSTs are not part of the BU. maybe you're confusing the two games and it's fine. one is the BTS Universe Story which is the one related to BU and the second one is the BTS World game where you're playing as their manager and that's where the OSTs (heartbeat, all night, a brand new day, and dream glow) are part of.
Well.. they're all friends.. when they'll together they're happy like brothers...but when they're alone... they're sad and depression and have their own problem that they need to faced...like V have a broken family .his dad is a drunker amd always hit his sister.. this is the start of the series sister... Haha u need to check first the order so that u didnt messed up and comfused..😊
I feel bad we didn’t warn you more about this one. Seeing your face going in expecting a simple break up song, then wham! The only thing I can say in our defence is it isn’t our fault the BTS members are such good actors. But now you know, if their singing, rapping or dancing doesn’t move you, their acting will. Resistance is futile.
You're finished with their school trilogy The next several years until around 2023 none of the songs were about women Romance romance Break-up songs None of them are about women If it sounds like a song about a woman it's about army Their fans. When RM wrote this song the original lyrics said I need you friend but it didn't flow right so he changed it to girl It's not a break-up song This is the 1st music video in the fictional story line! In the books And the webtoon The main character is jin he time travels And saves The members from dying several times I guess you didn't know notice after jungkook was beat up he was walking and got hit by a car J. hope overdosed on drugs and fell on the bridge Jimin and suga committing suicide. Jimin drowning in the Bathtub Sugacatching his bedroom on fire. V. was coming home And saw his alcoholic father beating his sister He kills him 1 of the next video he's arrested You get through the next couple of music videos then you have the short films Then you have videos between music videos Showing Showing items related to Showing items related to the storyline You need to get A list of the storyline videos A list of the storyline videos and not just watch the music videos There are videos that technically are not music videos and they're part of the story line! Videos like the short films And the highlight reel Are not music videos but are part of the fictional storyline!
I’m sure you realized that when they are together, they are happy. Just being teenagers and having fun. But when they’re alone, you can see them going through depression and suicidal thoughts. I don’t wanna spoil it but BU is really dark. Like abuse, suicides, bullying, depression, drug, traumas, PTSD etc. (As the comments says, the song and mv is not abt a girl at all. It’s not a break up song. But a friendship song. Namjoon said in his album review live, that it was supposed to be “i need u friend” but that didn’t really work out, and he changed it to“i need u girl”, and it sounded better)
Girrrrl, most of their songs are not dedicated to a girl, this one especially isn't. If you really wanna deep-dive into the storyline, you should definitely do that separately because there's really a lot you have to pay attention to, things that you miss if you don't go into it with that mindset of it being a storyline, so really, that can be a lot... But it's SO worth it!
I'm gonna warn you if you choose to pursue the BU I hope you do because I love it. But I understand if you choose not to. But the BU is very dark and a heavy story. So it can cause triggering for some. I just want to let you know if you decide to fully jump in. It's not a happy story. And the kdrama about it is even more dark and sad but it's a great show. And the cast was phenomenal they really embody the members very well
HYYH was their hail mary. They gave it their everything and if it didn't work they would have given up. BigHit was on the verge of Bankruptcy and things were very bleak. When I listen to this song, I see it as them talking about their dreams instead of an actual girl because their songs tend to run in parallel to their lives at that point in time. The lyrics make the most sense to me through that lens, but I think they could probably be interpreted in a number of ways. Either way it conveys a lot of desolation and desperation. Bangtan Universe is pain. Brace yourself.
suga and jungkook are lokey gay for each other in this universe not directly stated or real but their chemistry and bond in BU is just top teir but they are also the one who dies according to storyline this is really so angsty but i live for this YOONKOOK
