Anpanman is a red bean bread man and the world’s weakest hero. He doesn’t have any superpowers like Batman or Superman, but is a kind hero who helps those in need and gives to hungry people pieces of his face, which is made out of red bean bread. BTS compare themselves to the character Anpanman. The artists said they wanted to convey their desire to give people hope through their music and performances in the song. By comparing themselves to not the world’s strongest hero, but the world’s weakest hero, BTS stays true to their message with the idea that rather than being a hero just because you’re strong, you can be a hero even if you’re weak. 💜

fun fact: jungkook actually had really bad mic problems during this performance. his mic pack on his pants was all messed up. so while he was dancing, he was fixing it! which is amazing to perform while being able to fix something lol.

Anpanman is a japanese cartoon and the world's weakest superhero made of pastry filled with bean jam. He doesn't have super strength but breaks off piece of his face and feed starving children and comforts them. I think BTS is comparing themselves to him by giving hope to people through their music. It reinforces the idea that everyday, ordinary people can also be superheros to others. This is my favorite Go-To song when I need motivation and confidence!

Yesss... must watch the intro, plus the opening and ending videos (VCRs). I came to this reaction (now 3 years later) to see if the version they watched showed the climactic point in the dance break and, nope... Mnet chose to show a hella wide shot as the main dance break was wrapping up (someone please explain why, haha). Meaning wise this is one of my favorite performances, cause its giving a powerfull message in such a "simple" way, first "fake Love" you hide you true self to apeal to others, then the VCR in which they tell to take of the mask and "Face Yourself", then "Anpanman" their story of the not so common superhero, in a way also a representation of BTS themselfs, and the performance being more fun and laid-back, they treat the venue like their concert-hall not an award-show, it says "I just do what I want to do, and be me". Love this whole thing so much!!

Oh (I forgot to mention in my previous comment) when you watch live performances, listen closely to them changing up the beats & speeding up or slowing down their words. Suga is the one who mostly does this. The reason being, in the past, antis claimed that BTS lip sync to every live performances. 🙄 So Suga does his thing to shut them up! 🙌🏽👏🏽

I’m pretty sure but during the fake love Jungkook mic was really quiet so while he was dancing he was fixing the volume on it I saw it on Instagram and it was awesome how he knew what moves to do even when he was looking down at the mic

What I personally love about these two performances is that with Fake Love you get to see a more serious and thought out performance and with anpanman you get to see the fun, energetic and charismatic side of to bts. They can truly master everything they want to!

Hiiiiiiiiiii. Anpanman is actually a japanese superhero character. It is actually the weakest superhero in anime. BTS made a song inspired Anpanman because BTS wants to be the hero even tho they are the weakest hero that exist in this world. Its sweet tho. The lyrics is really emotional and very inspiring too. Anphanman was a cartoon character in Japan in 1976 . He don't have any super power , his body was made of bread 🍞 and when someone is hungry he give his peace of his skin ( bread ) to them . So he is the weakest hero . But in this song BTS showed us that it's new generation , and we are new Heros like anphanman , and let's help eachother because Heros who fly don't exist . Anphanman is a superhero .

I'm sorry. I'm commenting again. Lol The guys were so exhausted from touring, awards shows, & other obligations that by this time, you can start to see it wearing on them. BUT... Every performance, they gave us their all! They are deep & do stand for something, which is what drew me in to them. I like other Kpop groups but BTS is my love!💜💜 Oh & ARMY bombs (newest ones) are connected to an app that you can download on your phone & when you go to a concert or award show, the venue controls the colors. How freaking awesome is that?!?!

there's a secret behind Anpanman choreography where they do Superheroes pose like Hulk, Ironman, Thor, Captain America Black Panther etc, but i guess i have to leave it to you to find which part just to have some fun. they also did it during one performance of idol where they mention the anpanman lyrics (jhopes line)

The ‘fake love’ backtrack they use for MAMA is the Rocking Vibe ver. I think there’s an extended MV for this ver. of ‘Fake Love’ Just type in “Fake Love extended ver” and you should find it. Fake Love is towards the end of the current line up of the fictional BTS Universe storyline. To understand the depth of meaning in it, you get to watch the storyline song in proper order which has been posted/ suggested a few times already. So far, you’ve been watching a few mvs in the storyline out of that order.... kinda like reading chapter 14 in a 25 chapter book... hope you understand my weird analogy. Thx for your Reactions!

The thing with Anpanman performance is--- this supposed to be an award show so there are like tons of other fandoms but during the Anpanman chanting part in the (intermission, bridge, dance break?), the whole stadium is chanting together which the power of BTS is coming thru, they changed an award show into their own personal concert... A stadium that is full of ARMYs!

Great notice about the hands being a theme! In the MV, those hands represented "Hear No Evil, Say No Evil, See No Evil". But essentially Fake Love about being a puppet to the liking of the one you love. So the hand it the MAMA Japan is actually puppeteer's hands. Fake Love is the dance of marionette. tbh, i hate it when other hollywood artists act like theyre way better or superior than asian artists when in fact we do it way better here.. kpop is a proof of that.

It's mama like yo mama! At the end of Fake Love the giant hands deflate. Anpanman was their last performance of the night and they actually closed out the show. Anpanman is a Japanese cartoon character so I think that's the reason for performing it at MAMA Japan and closing out with it. Anpanman is a very fun song, it doesnt have an MV but there are a lot of stages with good camera work. If you type BTS Anpanman it'll take you to a great performance and you can see the cool choreo. The song is about being a hero even if you're ordinary, even if you can't do anything you can still find a way to be a hero bc reg ppl can be heroes too. There's a performance where they're all wearing outfits that ppl don't really think about much like garbage man construction worker janitor that are hidden heroes among us. Anpanman is a superhero who can't do anything but give you pieces of his head (which is made of bread) to give you energy. Thank you for the reaction!

That is epic, react to that pls.This is an award show, so other kpop fans other than army's are there but half of them or 3/4 are armies. This award show arena where bts held their sold out concert before.

*PLEASE READ* "There must be a deep message behind it" NOW, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO KNOW ABOUT BTS' ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE, also known as bangtan universe. So their music videos (also short films, "the notes", hints from big hit, highlight reels, lyrics, concept photos, etc) are connected and follow a very VERY VERY complex (trust me, it IS complex, we haven't figured out the whole meaning of it yet, but we have smart armys that make theories and analyse it) storyline with symbolism, metaphors and literary references. Since it's too much information, I'll wait until you guys start reacting to the whole bts storyline thing. That intro before anpanman started has many hidden messages for the next comeback. For example, the masks they were showing were referring to the "persona". THE NEW ALBUM IS CALLED MAP OF THE SOUL :PERSONA. It is a reference to Jung's theory about the human psyque (unconscious with persona and ego and conscious with shadow, anima and anime) the "persona" is the part of our psyque that we show to the outer world, the "mask" that only shows part of us and hides our true self.
