I’ve always felt, in this song, the echoes of the feelings he had joining the company; he was one trainee among many that were so talented in his eyes while he felt his own lack. It is one of the reasons he has such a strong determination and he has cultivated a fierce work ethic. Yes, that is what I got from the song as well. He trains longer and on the choreography than the others and would have seen the criticism of past years about his dancing and even singing. He is an amazing performer though and wonderful human being.

Our Worldwide Handsome Jin actually wrote this song himself, and although the vocals are amazing, when you learn the meaning behind it it becomes really sad, but thankfully everyone can now appreciate Jin as an equal and just as talented as every other BTS member because that’s what he deserves. The six flowers represent BTS members which can also be related to the Wings Short Film (correct me if I’m wrong ARMY) Happy Jin Day!
Unfortunately even though jin wrote the lyrics for this song a lot of time (I think he said he got rejected like 30 times) but in the end mostly the lyrics written by namjoon were accepted with input from some other ppl. The pre chorus and a bit more was probably the only part he contributed. (I have to confirm which parts exactly) but he definitely didnt get to sing all of his own lyrics.

In some ways, Jin has been the most insecure regarding his abilities since he didn't have formal singing training or dance training before joining BTS. It's the reason he pushes himself so hard and this song is about the fact that he will always work hard and has to accept that he may never be on the same level as his 6 brothers but it won't stop him from trying to fly even if the best he can do is run. I hope he realizes now that he is a needed and precious member of BTS always. He contributed to the writing of this song. All the boys wrote out what they wanted to say on their soloes for the Wings album and had help putting the songs together.

j s Jin has a very charming personality. I saw him in a reality show and had to see more of him. Jin is a great entertainer, a total package. Beyond being a singer and dancer, he is fun to watch on reality and variety shows (like Run BTS!).
Jin is amazing! The amount of growth he has had is just beyond. He just turned 27 and he was only 20 when he actually put interest in learning to sing. He even practiced and apologized for mistakes he made while he slept. HE is a prime example of how hardwork can pay off.

Maria Flor Popoca May i just say, he is at par and as multi talented as the rest of the members are. Ive known celebrities or singers here in the Philippines who has trained vocally professionally for so many years and started when they were really really young but they can never sing even near a quarter of how Jin sings and his capabilities vocally. It is an inborn talent (something which can be taught), raw but all pure talent. Either ure born with or not. Jin is the perfect epitome of a God given raw, pure natural talent that he wasnt even aware of when he was young. He is insanely, incredibly, crazy talented and gifted as far as i can see and hear. I hope he knows that. He has his own strenghts that complete BTS as a whole.
So when they were planning the wings album, each member wrote a song that's personal to them so the lyrics and themes are very unique to each individual and their own story/journey: Begin - Jungkook - he wrote it about the the other members who raised him, saying he's only in pain when they are and they were his beginning Lie: Jimin - he wrote this about being caught in his "lie" and hiding his struggles with his weight, image, and abilities, he's notoriously hard on himself Stigma - Taehyung - he didn't reveal why he wrote what he did but from the lyrics I think it may about his guilt of never getting to see his family and watch them grow up, he's always been a family oriented person and is very close to them yet rarely gets to see them First Love - Suga - he wrote this about his relationship with music using the piano as an extended metaphor, he uses 2 different voices to represent the point of view of himself and also of the piano who is comforting him during the song Reflection - RM - wrote this while he was in the park, about reflecting on himself and I love how the chorus is an calming instrumental that allows the listener to reflect on themselves Mama - J Hope - wrote this about his mother who sacrificed a lot for him to get to where he is, paid for his dancing lessons etc. Awake - Jin - wrote this about although he'll never match up to the abilities of the other members (he started with no experience) he doesn't mind he'll try his best because at least he has his members/brother by his side, his 6 flowers All of these also link to the BTS storyline too which is clever how they made the lyrics personal to them yet also referencing their characters in the ongoing storyline
I think jin's 'awake' is his coming out story..To be honest in bts,Jin is the one who gets always less lines than others...specially in their past songs...He was very underrated and even now I think he's underrated..Like the other members,Jin wasn’t experienced in singing or dancing as he was picked for his visuals...So,there were prejudices,haters and a risky career.Some fans even wanted jin to leave bts...Maybe that's why sometimes he wondered if he could be succesfull or if he should really leave bts.But he never left and worked hard thinking that it was his fate. That's why he struggled and stayed together with his six flowers(6 members). Even though he was scared and he wasn’t sure of himself,he believed in the members and the members beleived in him. @WhatchaGot2Say I might get some stuff wrong but essentially this song is about Jin’s insecurities & his struggle to find his place in BTS. Since he was recruited or spotted mainly for his looks he felt that was all he had to contribute. Each of his band mates(the 6 flowers he clutches) brought either dancing, rapping, or singing skills that they contributed to BTS. Jin had to work hard and practice to learn how to sing and dance along with the rest. Since the others had already been developing or perfecting their talents he felt like he could only run while they flew. Not only is he a phenomenal singer but I believe his talent is that he can easily put so much emotion in his voice and even just a simple glance can make you feel so much emotion.
All of Bangtan's songs carry snippets of their stories, feelings and experiences which is why they will always feel authentic to us. For us it's an honor to know them this way and to be privy to their struggles. They don't talk down to their fans at all.
The six flowers are the six other members. This song came out when he was going through some stuff... as you all know Jin was just an ordinary student when he got recruited; he wasnt a genius composer/rapper like RM, nor a genius producer like Suga, nor a killer dancer like Jhope, JK, Jimin and V, and he didnt really know how to sing either, so he had to learn everything after joining the team. Im sure, from his point of view, the other members were flying while he was just “walking in the dark”. He also wasnt given many lines at the beginning, and was always placed in the back for dancing. So in this song he says maybe he can’t fly, but he’ll still struggle to walk forward as long as he has the other members by his side. That’s my interpretation of the lyrics. Fast forward to 2019, he not only can fly now, but is literally a god 💜. Hard work pays off
in general in kpop groups visuals receive so much criticism and they have to work harder to prove their abilities and skills , jin received some hate at first cuz he is the visual and ppl said he is there for his looks, ironically namjoon and jimin and jhope received hate for the exact opposite reason ppl saying they are ugly and shouldnt be there.

Loving the Jin appreciation! I'm sure you've read the other comments and have your questions answered, but for me, the song also helps me overcome my need for perfection, and to be content with my place in life? Because it feels to me like he's also reassuring himself, and us, that your best is enough, as long as you have will and desire to keep trying, you haven't failed. Jin isn't my bias, but he is the one I think I relate to the most, because he's always about living your life in a way that makes you happy, and even when it's hard, you'll find reasons to laugh. He struggled a lot in the early years after debut because BigHit wanted him to fit this image of a "cool, strong silent guy" when that really wasn't him, and in the last couple of years he's been able to be himself more and more, and that makes Awake and Epiphany more powerful for me, because he really did get to finally live his truth. He deserves so much love and appreciation!
At first Jin was recruited for the group as a visual, he looked good, people told him that he wasn't as good as the others. Not at dance, not in singing, he wasn't the best writer, he also couldn't produce like the other hyungs. He knew that, he had to work harder to get to their level. Even now, he is still one of the worst in dance battles, he has learned to beat box to a degree, he keeps up on the choreography, he wrote this song, and his voice is amazing. It's a song about how he saw himself against the other members. They flew so high, they were all so talented, and he knew he didn't. He knew he was never going to fly above any of them, but that wasn't going to stop him from trying to fly.
Thank you. This is one of my favorite reactions by you. To me, this song truly reflected Jin when it was was written. He was looked at as beautiful but aweird. Some said slow, and no talent. However, you can see that he's hard working, persistent, and truly talented. He is my Ultimate bias wrecker. The only reason JHope has the title is the self confidence he has always shown. From being a street performer, he knew he was a good dancer that no one could fight. Jin had to show himself slowly, while learning to sing and dance. He is the goal we are reaching for. Showing that hard work does pay off in the end. I love, love, love his voice and can hear it in any song.

I love this song but at the same time it's so heartbreaking to think that Jin felt he wasn't as good as the others. One reason why I love them like I do is because they're not afraid to show us their insecurities and fears. The entire Wings album turns me into an emotional mess since it's such an intimate look at how the boys were feeling at that point in their lives. Happy Jin day and this particular cult is always accepting new members and it's okay to drink the koolaid!

I think this talks about how Jin accepted that he's always stuck in the middle while others shine, I mean there's rap line, dance line, but still he stays to love and support his 6 brothers. Their expressions, dance moves etc. For me the six flowers he holds tight to are the other 6 members of BTS. He feels they are all successful and flying and he is not. I dont know if he is looking at it as they are so far ahead of him (I don't think they are), or if he is looking to the future. When he will be away from them in the military. They will be flying, continuing with their career and he can't. So in holding the flowers he is still supporting them even though he can't do anything to be successful with them because of his duty. I guess you dont choose your bias, your bias chooses you 💜 He speaks to me the most, such a high quality outstanding young man 🙂 In the early days though when Jin didnt have a lot of confidence (he’s one of the most insecure members, dont be fooled by his current persona, he’s a shy and extroverted introvert at heart), he thought he could never fly/ be at the same talent level as the other 6. Instead, he settled into being the wind underneath the other members’ wings, a role the eldest took on wonderfully. Broke my heart a little. After years of perseverance, hard work and pure mental strength (with support from BTSxARMY) he’s finally felt confident and comfortable in his own skin now. As Jimin said, looking at Seokjin you want to become better, you believe hard work does pay off and magic can happen. The power of change!
