Namjoon wrote a message on the group’s official fan cafe announcing he changed his stage name from Rap Monster to RM. Namjoon stated that “RM” stands for “Real Me”. He wants to live as his true self, not as a "Monster". So you can still call him RapMon if you want, no pressure to change or anything. Just want you to know the real meaning of his name. English is not my mother tongue; please excuse any errors on my part.

Namjoon doesn't want to be called "Rap Monster". He literally said in an interview if he could go back in time what would he say to himself "don't name yourself rap monster, you're not a monster, you're a human". So I think him and ARMY would appreciate if you called him RM. You don't have to but it would be greatly appreciateted. RM = Real Me

BTS does work really hard and don't get a lot of breaks but they love what they do and I think that makes up for all the work they do. In the end result they get to make the music they want, connect with ARMYs, and spread their message out over the world. These things outweigh the bad. RM doesn't want to be called Rap Monster anymore because he felt it restricted him. He got the name when he was a teen, so it's like having a nickname as a kid like "pookie". You don't necessarily want to be called that all your life. He said he's not a monster, he is a human and if he could go back he wouldn't have named himself Rap Monster. Us ARMYs respect his decision and don't call him that anymore.
