A good choreographer doesn't just make steps that move to the music, they make a movement that highlights the sounds and can bring a whole new perspective on the music itself. That little stutter is great at highlighting the ayo along with the transition in the music. I love it! That's one of the many great things I appreciate about a lot of BTS's choreographers. Their ability to create something that highlights and compliments the music, is just so aesthetically pleasing. I could watch them all day and never tire of it.

Did you all notice Jimin actually slipped and fell at 10.29 but he got up and back into position in a split second anyway? He also did those spins flawlessly, always ending up in the correct position facing the audience although he was completely blind,folded which is difficult af. He's so professional and was born to be a performer 💜

BTS won their first MAMA Daesang (Top Award) for Artist Of The Year this year. When you talk about the stage being filled with dancers, that's a special moment as well, because coming from a small company they weren't able to afford luxuries like that at first. But as the boys grew and became better known, they were able to have better and better stages. BTS has worked for EVERYTHING they've gained, and even now that they sit on top of the world, they are humble and don't take it for granted.

Both Jimin and J-Hope are the main dancers, so it makes sense that they steal your attention when they dance. The way you describe Jimin's dancing is spot on to me. lol. 'He do shit for nothing'. I notice that he stands out to me the most because he's so technical that he never misses the details. Every single little movement has a purpose. I also feel you about the black bands. I've been to quite a few HBCU homecomings, Atlanta Classics, Battle of the Bands etc. We only went to the games for the halftime show, not the football. lol 😂

Watched it live and was trying no to scream my head off. Still today I can't count how many times I have watched this same performance, it's iconic!

Trivia.... This award show is where BTS won their 1st Artist of the Year! JK was still in high school at the time of this performance. This was at the end of the 2016 year, & he didn’t graduate until 2017. This is the year that BTS finally broke through. They won top awards at Korean music ceremonies, & the Wings album charted at No.26 on Billboard. A record that they, obviously, later broke. Jimin was blindfolded during the opening dance with Jhope. JK was the one hanging from the ceiling, & subsequently, it is alleged that he injured his leg, but still performed.

My husband said that JHope does little flicks or out of time movements that are from his street day almost like not quite stopping where he is meant to stop, and Jimin has technique and time down to the very point and amazingly both there dances are equally impactful and amazing because of those things.... which is mind blowing in itself

this is when they won their first artist of the year award the biggest award of the night and this is when things started to change heading into the new year bc MAMA awards is always in december. you should watch when they won their first daesang (artist of the year) in 2016 and their acceptance speech. the first act from a small company, not from the "big 3" to win artist of the year and let me tell you EVERYONE was shocked. this is when the underdogs (bts) became others hopes and dreams~

Hey Fam!!! They always say that BTS performing at an award show ALWAYS turns into a BTS concert!!! :)

There's a lot of significance to this performance and their win here. It was the first in over a decade that a group from small company (i.e. not one of the big 3 companies which are yg (blackpink's label), sm (exo's label) and jyp) won the major award. BTS had gone theough so much crap to get to this point they didnt even have dressing rooms like the other artists did because of of the power the other labels had. The other labels knew the boys were a threat so they would pay broadcasters to cut them from shows. Winning a daesang (korean name for a major award) was so unexpected that this was an incredibly emotional moment. They even said themselves that as they didnt have the power of a big company behind them even winning a small music show was more than they'd dreamed. A music show is like a chart show where artists peform to get essentially a number 1. Armys had to cheer so loudly during their acceptance speech because fans of the other labels and groups such as exo were cursing and holding up their middle fingers to them on stage. Even after winning the big 3 accused bts of chart manipulation saying that their label had bought all the albums which is why they were topping the charts and outselling their artists. Obvs this wasnt true. BTS had been steadily growing since 2013 and their company didnt have the funds to do something like that. But they were slandered nonetheless. This is why everytime bts win its special. Because they never expected success like this and the fans are extremly loyal. They've built a giant community who relate to their story and love their music and their personalities and wish them to succeed. To even perform a solo stage like this without featuring other groups was a big deal for them so they put on a huge show. Bts and their label always put so much money into the staging, effects and dancers to put on a great performance. BTS are also one of the only groups aside from txt that also perform live and do insanely difficult choreo.

This was Dec. 2, 2016, the night BTS won their first Artist of the Year award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA's.) They were the first group not from the "Big 3" entertainment companies in SK to win, and they won it again the next year to become the first group to win it two years in a row. They won it AGAIN in 2018, because as you like to say, they be killin' shit! I believe they should/will win again this year, too.

That subtle yet impactful move is what got many people falling for Jk when the MV came out haha I knew this reaction would be amazing, this is one of their best stages. Especially the one with Jimin and Jhope, that's a once in a lifetime stage. You'll never see anyone dance blindfolded AND synchronized that way.
