As it was probably informed to you, this is a song about "rebellion" where they are talking about the difficult of the education system in Korea where the adults say any "problem" you have it's not important you just have to continue and try to enter a prestigious university, and encourage stepping on your classmates and friends back to get there, and they are criticizing it asking if a good car or money it's all that can make you happy, and that "they" don't want anymore so it's "No Offense to the adults but we are done" kinda like that!! N.O. is an abbreviation for No Offense. 💜 In this song, they were basically trying to break against the education system in Korea. The students there were next level toxic, and it's been affecting the youth severely. Some resort to suicides when they don't pass what's expected of them, etc. Therefore, a lot of the youngsters were able to relate to BTS' message - they held onto what the boys were fighting for. This was also the reason why they received a lot of criticisms. But they remained strong towards what they've been fighting for, even the other stereotypes in Korea, even for idols. BTS PAVED THE WAY! And they changed the K-culture to be a more positive and better world for the youth 😭🤧💜

I absolutely love how BTS didn’t just write songs being like “f school and teachers schools suck” like other groups. They had a genuine message they wanted to portray about how the system in place is messed up and needs to be fixed. They love education some of the boys r still getting degrees to this day, and always speak about the importance of education. It was so cool to see a group with a fully thought out message that they believe in and not just writing songs they thought people would want to hear! Love ur guys’s reactions! Borahae!

There really is always a Brazilian, and here I am! kkkk That's right, slaves at the time learned capoeira for self-defense, but since they couldn't be discovered, it was considered a dance (and in fact capoeira is that too). Capoeira is strongly recognized for being a resistance movement, for the fighting style being different from the others and for being something beautiful. N.O. it's truly one of my favorite songs, I can't wait to see the next reactions, I feel especially excited for the ones that don't have a MV or are so recognizable, like Tomorrow and Autum Leaves. it's so interesting how SUGA who would sometimes throw in how unimportant school is in interviews or behind content (until Namjoon basically shuts him down and emphazises how important learning is) was the one that claimed he does calculus in his breaks sometimes to relax, and now in hiatus has created a tight week schedule learning a lot of stuff. Just shows that people are willing to learn, it's just the circumstances that annoy young people. He's also very knowledgable in interior design. Overall our boys all did study on the side (mostly digital Univesity) while being super busy, which is extremely impressive.

Your intros are epic! N.O. is amazing, isn't it? The fighting partially inspired by taekwondo, and Jimin, JK and Jin are all blackbelts. Suga studied it, too, and said once that he had a red belt. I don't think RM or Hobi did, unless they were forced to learn a little bit of it in school. The sad truth behind the Korean school system is that it's so demanding and there are so few moments of relief that South Korea has a startlingly huge number of suicides among the young. It's tragic.

Just so you know, even though JK is also a black belt, the one who usually does all the tricking and stunts is Jimin. Remember Jimin was trained to use his whole body as a contemporary dancer and because of that Jimin's core strength and sence of balance is the best in the group. Because of how he usually acts a lot of people tend to forget how crazy strong and athletic Jimin truly is.

PART 2 OF 2 ….. From what I got of the lyrics, it shows that this song is connected to their debut track “No More Dream” which they talk about the unfair social problems where the young people (youth generation) no choice but to study & get a job like their parents having no room to dream on their own which is where N.O is introduced to continuous issues and overcoming them. This track was made around the same time as university entrance exams where starting in Korea so RM’s line “In Seoul to the S.K.Y, will parents really be happy?” could have mean the actual SKY but mostly stood from the three top-notch universities Seoul university, Korea university and Yonsei university because of the overwhelming amount of graduates & alumni around the world not just in South Korea, it’s said you are set for life after graduating from on those those mentioned schools including the overbearing amount of pressure from determined controlling parents’ besides going to high school, parents’ spend much of their time & majority of income trying to get their children into one of those hagwons or private school after completing regular classes. Another thing i’ve learned through Kpop and korean culture is that during large amounts of youth get accepted into one of three universities mentioned above once their graduated high school each year after they passed college with high honors they would return home continue their studying because the importance of earning money & high achievement have been engraved into the society which causes youth generation (student body) who fail a test making them strongly feel like they brought extreme disappointment to themselves especially to their parents because of the overbearing pressure the children are forced to carry on their shoulders through their life which leads to why you hear the largest amount of suicides is the highest in South Korea. So, with this said BTS continues to highlight these untalked about issues throughout their music describing their unfair culture where young generation are not given room to dream and the boys are asking us especially to their local young fans to wake up saying N.O (No Offense) to this kind of machine-like educational culture and discover your own path. *As you reacted to it already, years later for their latest album series ‘MAP OF THE SOUL’ they made a counterpart of N.O that is called “ON” which a displays much mature grown versions of themselves showing that they are overcoming the hardships and obstacles that they have gone through which they will continue as JK’s put it “On and on and on” making music they love to help give encouragement & confidence to fans worldwide to overcome their hardships and continue living life to achieve their dreams. The “ON” MV maybe confusing to most people especially newbies when they don’t read the lyrics since they don’t use the first half of the choreography within the video until the dance break toward the end.*

Hi guys! Have you seen the mv of Vibe by Taeyang ft. Jimin?

Fight choreography. Caporeia. N.O. No Offense. Coming from a theatre background...just so you know...all fight scenes in movies, on stage, in MV's, concerts, and TV are "choreographed" even without music. Lots of the movements are done with counts, a rhythm. In fact any movement is "choreographed". It's called blocking. And it's all put on paper... mapped out. It's fascinating. I am a choreograper so when I discovered them February 24, 2020 on the Jimmy Fallon show performing "On" I KNEW what it took to pull off that mind blowing production. I had never seen anything like it with a dance group. They obviously were magnificent. It took me watching them for 6 months on RU-vid to ever see a mistake.

Thanks for the reaction. All BTS flips, acrobatics and tricking are done by Jimin. He has black belt in Taekwondo and was trained in kendo. While at school he was given scholarship to study martial arts in China since he waa very good. Jin recently said he has black belt too and Jungkook has red black belt (junior category). You can check out Park Jimin's athleticism (how is he good at everything?) by The Jimin Videos and N. O. Dance practice in BTS official yt channel called Bangtan TV. Its a great choreography. When you watch mv you can pair it with the dance practice too :)

I definitely recommend reading the lyrics of No More Dream and then reading the lyrics of N.O (like just on your phone). You’ll easily see the parallels and the message they were sending to their peers during this triology

I believe Jimin, Jungkook, Jin, and Suga had taken Taekwando, but as far as tumbling and doing the flips, I have only seen Jimin do it. I know RM had mentioned in an interview that part of the reason BTS stood out in their early days was because of those acrobatic moves, and he credited Jimin. An interesting fact revolves around 'the stair walk'. This concept shows up later on in one of their online concerts (when Suga was out due to his shoulder surgery and they left an open spot for him), and in a kool video when they were on LYS tour shown just prior to the opening songs of Dionysus & Today. BTS often include 'links' to their past work in many performances, which is often appreciated by ARMY with a loud roar of recognition that will become familiar to you too since you are going back to their earlier days.

I don't know if someone mentioned it but SKY in the lyrics refers to TOP 3 Universities in Korea that are soooooo hard to enter that students need to study hard, after schools end very late at night, so students just can sleep like 4 hours a day. I read several translations and explainations of BTS's music. For this, I read somewhere that when RM said "In Seoul to the SKY, would parents be happy?" SKY here is actually an acronym that refers to the three most prestigious universities in South Korea: Seoul National University (SNU), Korea University (KU) and Yonsei University (YU). These are the universities most Korean parents dream for their children to go. To the point parents are putting a lot of pressure on their children.
