The guys of BTS are dishing on their new album as they get ready for a big Billboard Music Awards performance! Plus, they reveal the artists they’d love to work with, and talk about their next tour.
Am I the only who is totally disappointed with the interviewer? He kinda put Bts in an edge. Other interviews were so fun. This guy sounds like someone just woke him up and made him ask questions at gun point.
Yeah and that comment about girls taking them seriously was kinda condescending to RM's answer. Like, is he expecting RM to give him a Martin Luther King level speech? RM is just trying his best to speak english XDDDD
Hobi imitating desiigner and making jin's window wiper laugh activate was the only thing that saved this awkward interview tbh like look how uncomfortable they are
Graveyard cookies i dont think that they are uncomfortable but just tired...they're wearing the same outfit for about 5-7 interviews...they must have done one interview after another all in one day..hopefully they did this so that they can just get it over with and have a bit of spare time the next time & enjoy their time before BBMAs
So true I couldn't help but feel bad for them. Like the guy was weird....like maybe he was having a bad day? But I really didn't like his questions and comments, but yeah I agree 😢
As a male army I'm kinda insulted that all of BTS' fans are just seen as chaotic fangirls. Even many of the teen girls in the fandom can be pretty nice, respectful, etc. Not everybody who is passionate about bands or groups is filled with teens who only like artists for their looks. Bts is so much more than that, and the whole fanbase knows it. They didn't come this far just by looking good, otherwise any of the other groups could've made it.
Calf Thank God a fan boy is here.... Like Idk what these people think about BTS just having crazy fangirls...I mean they are a good amount of fanboys too
All ARMY's love and respect each other and the boys and matter equally. We know that, and BTS knows that. That's what matters.Together we'll get everyone else to respect us and the boys too, by helping them reach the top while spreading kindness and positivity. Let's work on it. :))
At least they had the interviewers came to them instead of bts going to the interviewers. That would've been more tiring. Here it looks like they set up their own room and let the interviewees take turns interviewing them.
That awkward moment when the interviewers listened to our requested questions but clearly didn't coordinate their efforts and ended up asking the same questions over and over again. Still an improvement though.
Joon was so done halfway through the interview. I'm living for his deep sighs every time one of the annoying questions were asked. The boys still managed to make it watcheable though so yay! But seriously, interviewer, sir, with all due respect, it's been a year of armys constantly telling every reporter that these questions are not okay and more serious questions should be asked. Please do your research
“The girls actually take these things seriously“. Now I have a question if this was Drake or Migos, Interviewer Sir, would you have asked and said that same statement? I think US media is still stigmatizing fandoms of boybands as being full of irrational, maniac, rather less intelligent ans more emotionally driven fanGIRLS. Let me put two things straight: 1. BTS is not your average boy bang who sing fluffy, shallow love songs that their label handed to them. They are ARTISTS & MUSICIANS who work 24\7 and pout their soul into their music which yes, deals with love this time, but SELF LOVE, and tackles love as an elementary construct of humanity, once you watch their mvs, short films and read their lyrics you‘ll know. They also mostly tackle social / political issues like f.e. classism, also mental health & individualism etc the list is long. 2. Therefore their fandom is very HETEROGENEOUS, meaning there are a fair amount of male fans as well as MANY FANS RATHER IN THEIR 20s, 30s and even 40s and 50s who are inspired by BTS as Artists / lyricists / musicians. Of course you have the fan girls who pay lots of attention to their visuals but out of all groups especially BTS draws in older fans in Korea AND internationally, that‘s why this fandoms buying power is so damn strong and organized, especially on Twitter the fandom dynamic is insanely well organized and connected, from monitoring Charts, streams, promotions to initiating charity projects etc. These people feel connected to their music and resonate with it to an extent that they have a collective belief that BTS music needs to be heard globally, that‘s how they made all the success happen. I recommend not underestimating that fandom, and taking a look beyond those fangirl stigmas, thank you. Majority couldn’t care less about their hair. Edit: There is one fangirl, 15 years old who‘s username is @flirtaus on Twitter, and she wrote an integrative au “Outcast“ ON TWITTER which captured around 600 tsd readers of the BTS fandom and several non BTS fans as well, who were so hyped and fascinated by her story that EACH day a Hashtag about “Outcast“ was trending #1 worldwide. That young author also generated theory culture which this fandom loves, this time making them theorize about HER story and not BTS mvs. Tausends of memes were also born, and all the fans bonded with each other over her story. Just to give an example for all the young beautiful minds this fandom has. Like fandom like artists I guess.
Think about the Beatles and how big they were and how huge their fangirl base was. Now when we look back on them all these years later, we don't see them as just a "girl thing". Same with the composer Franz Liszt. "Lisztomania" was a real thing. No one this day and age will discredit the Hungarian Rhapsodies or Liebestraum he wrote as just frivolous fangirl things. In the end, good music is good music and people should be a lot more open minded. Unfortunately people just like to shit on what girls like 😑
Yeah, that comment was really annoying to me, it's annoying to hear these assumptions over and over. I can't wait for BTS to start being more widely recognized as credible artists with a diverse fanbase.
Yeon Ki Min that honestly pissed me off. I could tell Namjoon was SNAPPING in his head at the interviewer. Like, BTS knows their ARMYs WAY more than this interviewer ever will
·Rachel· Raine says Don't be rude. You need to be humble BTS isn't at Beyonce's level. They would be considered "rookies" in America. America & American media don't know them like an army does.
seems like you replied to every similar comment, i see. as an interviewer, it is a basic thing for you to at least research and find some info about your interviewee.
Julyana Marques Ikr like wth does that even mean? We take everything too serious? Has this person seen any Bts crack videos? Probably not since he also asked the most stupid question which was: "Have you become any closer?" They've been living together for like 8 years. What are those questions....
Jasmine Malhotra i literally sighed along involuntarily that questiom has been asked way too many times and it just makes them look like rookie artists which they aren't!
The translator is amazing . That so fast like he translated everything after he listen every words. I cant even translate all words after i listen to it, i need some time to find the right words even in my brain. To speak is the another level. I know its their jobs but i just amazed. Please excuse my english 😬
Oh my god yes!! I always have a hard time translating English/French words to my native language, even tho I could understand everything I always have a problem to translate it to people 😩
yes he is good. I had the opportunity to work for an American company for a month as an interpreter(oral) n i swear we were only given 2 seconds maximum for hesitation when we interpret and generally u need to interpret immediately. It's a very nerve wrecking job if u aren't good especially if u struggle with some social anxiety. Now i'm taking courses to become a translator (written) and it's stressing me out. So i really admire people like him.
Thanks. Good luck to you too in achieving your dream. After my experience with interpretation i realized that i am just not cut out for it. I suck at anything that needs live reactions so i quit. Which is why i'm focusing on translation now.
Ka tie- I know sweets, but because they has the perception of "screaming chaotic teen girls" are A.R.M.Y.s. I wanted to make sure to knock that age stereotype out of the way too. I'm 40 so I hate that stereotype too. We are a variety! These people need to know! A.R.M.Y. is many genders, sexes, ages, cultures, religions, races across the whole world. ^_^
"youre lives have changes so much in a year" i mean they were big a year ago as well? makes it sound like they were nobodies before they broke into america lmao
That is actually one of the things that always annoys me the most when it comes to interviews regarding BTS in the US. The interviewers always seem to mark their debut performances in USA as some kind of event that changed BTS music and their impact on the world, as if their success overall can be related to their first steps inside the 'American celeb's life' or something. I don't know, it seems really arrogant of them to phrase themselves that way, and also to put ARMY in such a, well not bad, but yes, bad light. ARMY is a hugely dedicated fanbase which means that we also support and respect the BTS members' rights to privacy among other things. The american interviewers seem to lump us together the majority with the overly obsessive minority, and that happens all the time, for all fandoms. It makes me mad. BTS sudden success in America existed before the whole celeb world knew about it. Only because they choose to acknowledge it now doesn't mean it wasn't there before.
Nat Blue well said! 100% agree. just bc youre not a big hit in america doesnt mean you cant be rich af and cant be doing well lol. somehow majority of america seems to think this way
That's what is hate about American narcissism, BGS have been huge for a couple years now, this is just the continuation of it all, they weren't nobodies, just because your flop ass didn't know them.
5:50 The interviewer asks yoongi to repeat what he said. BRUH I RELATE SO HARD. Even as a k-army (and someone who used to sub their vids) i have the hardest time understanding what yoongi says sometimes cause he slurs his words. LOL
also fun fact! yoongi swears in Burn the Stage when they're gathered around having wine and chicken but subtitlers never caught that ;)) i almost missed it myself cause again, only 80% of the shit he says is intelligible
I think he has the boyband stereotype in mind boy band = crazy fan girls. But BTS has a good mix of male and female fans and a variety of ages most are actually in their 20's. In this day and age lots of celebrities have crazy "fans" but it isn't near to being the majority. BTS can be themselves and say however they feel they dont have to be super cautious to the point that they can't even make a joke. They joke around all the time nobody takes everything they say 100% seriously.
I didn't like this interview. When they're comfortable they take the mood easy and open up, but the host didn't easy the mood and make them uncomfortable. I hope the host doesn't think they're not doing they job well, the one who didn't the job well was the host who doesn't delivery a good interview. Sorry for you guys to experience some kind of situation, but we're together, armys got your back. We Purple u.
The metal studs on the shirt are poppers, and one had come undone and Jin was clipping it back together. I loved how Tae got a bit pouty and wide-eyed; appreciating the attention when he knew why. Bless his soul. 😍
I'm sorry, not meaning to be rude, but COME ON. This video was so uncomfortable to watch, as the interviewer had no emotions, I didn't hear any laughs from him. He literally just asked the questions right off the card. I mean, I think all interviewers should have a welcoming personality towards there interviewees, to make them feel more welcomed, relaxed, and have them WANTING to come back to you again. Yet this interviewer did none of that. You guys have to think about the fact that there is a language barrier already, there is no need to put up yet another barrier, especially since the boys are so welcoming. PLEASE, for whoever else you interview, you have to be welcoming, you WANT to be friendly, and memorable to them as they already have plenty of people who'd be welcome to interview them.
YES and also asking them about the importance of success in the US?? How was he supposed to answer that. The interviewer made it sound like the US is the only country that matters in music but the boys have fans all over the world and “success” isn’t what they’re going after.
Why this so so serious & awkward , here we go again w/ that broken record questions , is the interviewer a robot or what ? I am a bit discourage about this interview , but thanks to this humble angels on making this interview interesting , still fun to watch & put so much effort to make jokes & being hilarious just lighten the atmosphere ! I'm so impressed on how more confident they are in speaking English so much improvement .
I feel so bad for the boys! I can tell RM is getting run down with the same questions being asked in every interview. He's putting on a brave face and trying to be engaged, but he's not 100% in it. At one point in the interview I got the feeling he just wanted to stop talking. It's a lot for him to be speaking more than 80% of every interview.
Anna like number 1. not everyone is a girl. 2. that gives such an obsessive image of the fangirls which in majoritys case is not true. 3. hell yes we wanted black haired bangtan back and we got it but its not a hell wouldve broken loose if it didnt happen so no we dont take it that seriously. and dont even get me started on the "have you all experienced heartbreak" comment. smh
OT7 lovely Army i kinda call women girls even if they are like proper adults who work (like myself, or am i a proper adult at 21 idk lmao), but for sure gives an annoying stigma when used like this..
4:09 when Hobi imitated Designer, he's such a cute dork!! And yes, even when Designer's speaking English, it sounds like gibberish to native speakers x'D I can't imagine how it sounds like for these boys hahahaha
seriously could be in the same cast as the first round interviews last year when they went to america. billboard interviews were great, Chelsea has learned what the fans wanna know :-) hopefully these guys will for the next time
it souded like he does interviews everyday and doesnt really do any research himself, like someone does it for him and just hands him the questions and is so bored of his day job. with interviews like this with artists with big fanbases you need to be interested in the artists to do the interview, or at least pretend in some way. hire someone with less experience but more enthusiasm or something..
1:21 Awwww Jimin too wanted to be complimented by Namjoon, that shoulder tap to get his attention was too damn cute! Sometimes whenever I watch the maknae line try to catch their leader's attention, it's like an 'Achievement Unlocked' for them xD
This is one of those interviews where it's going to annoy ARMYs... the first half was ok. The second half... well... i think from those interviews and comments last year u can kinda guess what questions or comments should probably not be repeated anymore(if u've done your homework). Anyways, I love all the other interviews so far for this comeback so it's not like i'm not appreciative but just noting that the questions for this particular interview could be better. The ones that stood out so far are the ones done by Liam and Zach. I'm sure ARMYs know which one i'm talking about bcoz those are amazing.
are u referring to that charming black dude? i love that one too. he is very likeable. the Zach i'm referring to is from last year (zach sang show). but i hope he gets to interview them again
TheBookCover12 oh yess that guy who they discussed the purple ribbon initiative with . I think the zach guy was with pop asia ? If not I'll definitely look him up i need to cleanse myself after this interview.
hmmm i dun think he is from pop asia. also, friendly advise. If u hate interviews like this don't watch the new interview with people tv. it's even worse than this one. the interviewer sounds like she's about to fall asleep. the only highlight was jin n jimin mentioning American Hustle Life
what I do like about this interview is that the interpreter is there to also translate what RM says so the members understand a lot better what is going on. RM doesn't always have time to translate everything for them in full, plus it's very tiring, so this is nice that they can all be better engaged. We'll probably be back to the old style for red carpet interviews, but this is nice that they can see how RM is portraying them in AMerica
only reasons mans is behind that damn camera is because he knows that we know that thEY KNOW we gone come at his neck if he bein outta pocket. like you ain't gotta hide we just wanna taLK-
꾸기 The guy is just an interviewer he probably only takes into account what he sees, and that would be ALOT of girls. I don't blame him, but yeah it's a little alienating to the guys.
Even for me, an old Kpop fan, it feels surreal. I could never imagine how popular Kpop will get. So, for our boys it's like living a dream now. And I want them to enjoy themselves and stay healthy and happy forever)
Right?? it's pretty epic. I was from the TVXQ era n seeing how 3rd n 4th generation kpop idols get so popular now is just amazing. proud of them really.
Rm: stating the changes in everyone Jimin: *taps* me, me! what about me Rm: he's still Jimin After "Just Jimin" introducing " Still Jimin" XD Jimin is so cute.
I'm a minute in and I'm already cringing. The interviewer sounds so dull and asked the same question twice like ofc they're excited and they said they were very excited what more do you want?? Joon looked so done he literally *sighed*. God bless Jin for answering.
