SUGA wrote this song when he was recovering in the hospital after a surgery. For me, that gives the song even more meaning about "one more day" and appreciating each day. Ugh they're so good. 💜

Wonderful interpretation of this song and music video! I feel you are absolutely correct about it - like all their songs, BTS very rarely explains their lyrics, leaving it open to interpretation. All I DO know about this song is that, after an awards show, Yoongi's appendix burst and he had to be rushed into surgery. While he was recovering in the hospital, the other six boys had to finish up their appearances and interviews, and Yoongi wrote his lyrics based on the idea of what he'd do if he had one day left to live, and this is how this song came about. For me, I also see the music video, see the college cardigans the boys are wearing, and me, being 20 years out of college, think of it as if I had a day to re-experience my early 20s, and that makes me a bit nostalgic for those days as well.

I am loving your reactions and insights and have been with you since your first Butter reaction. During their first Muster in 2014 they played a video of their daily schedule packed with work from morning until the wee hours of the night. Then they performed this song. I think part of this is their story and sometimes longing for all they gave up for their dream. I love your insights about the shadows. It fits, Suga behind bars of time and trying to hold the hands of the clock. Several times in your reactions you ask” Where do they get the time to do all this.” Everyone who I have heard talk about them says they have always worked incredibly hard. If you have time, watch the dance practice video of this that others have recommended. They have fun while working hard.

RM's verse makes me feel so emotional T____T especially at 7:29 when he says lets meet when the morning glories bloom and say goodbye when it closes. morning glories are flowers known to bloom early in the day and then close up quickly even before the end of the day. so he's saying, i dont even want or need a lot; all i ask for is just a SHORT small moment from you, even if it's within my DREAMS. (And then he says am i being too selfish and asking for too much?) ugh...how are all his verses so emotional & poetic????

To be honest, I didn’t even think about the hands as clock hands 🤯 that was a good insight/interpretation 😊 This is one of my fave songs of theirs when I just want to chill. Love your reactions! Been here since your Butter reaction 😊 As Jimin says - you nice, keep going! Edit: You might want watch their dance practice to this, as well. I recommend the appeal version 😁. Their songs are always authentic ....u can't find a bad song...like maybe one song maynot be of ur taste or genre..maybe u won't like the whole song but still there will be a fact that will make u love it...n i can say it because i m too picky when things comes to this...since 2013 till now i don't find a single bad song in their playlist when i m not even a hip hop fan...i like soft soothing songs still their each song has left an impression on me....and its actually commendable that THEY COVER EACH GENRE BUT EACH SONG IS AUTHENTIC...NO BAD SONG AT ALL...THIS SHOWS HOW GREAT ARTISTS THEY ARE...like its hard to maintain it for 8 straight yrs and when i say no bad song i say even their solo stuff...each one of them releases authentic and some prominent song...AND U KNOW WHAT THE BEST PART IS THIS THAT THE ONLY SONGS THAT CAN OUTPERFORM THEM IS THEIR SONGS ONLY.....THATS Y WE SAY ITS BTS VS BTS EVEN IN CHARTS BCZ LIKE THEY GROW EACH TIME THEY PUT NEW THING OUT...WE R BLESSED TO HV SUCH ARTIST OUT THERE🥺💜... I absolutely love this piece, start to finish. The only thing is, I find the English at the end to be very jarring, which has to be a hysterical comment from the US. Oh well! You are right, to build this video from chairs and shadows is brilliant. The music and theme are among my utter favorites. BTS may still be new here, but they are obviously working with some of the best in the business!

I know what you mean when you say there's so much going on other than what is actually there to the eye in BTS songs. There are so many things you picked up on its amazing. Another thing to note here is that this is their pretty early stuff and they didn't have big budgets so some of their earlier songs may seem a simple interns of props and stuff. But the impact that they have to bring out the messages is just brilliant 💜💜

I really enjoy watching your reactions to BTS. You bring in a new perspective and catch things or interpret things in ways I never noticed - like the hands on the clock!! Congrats on your first comeback btw! Permission to Dance is a great comfort song gifted to ARMY. The boys were really excited to share it with us, and I think it was something they needed to do for themselves too. P.S. I for some reason was under the impression that you had already listened to ON. ON is a fantastic song!!! It was the title track for MOTS:7 and actually peaked at #4 of BBHot100 (highest debut prior to Dynamite). BTS were so excited to promote this song, but then the pandemic happened. I HIGHLY recommend watching the ''ON' Kinetic Manifesto Film : Come Prima MV. It's what made me an army. Also, the inside joke with ARMY is BTS has no bad songs - EXCEPT for the digital single 'ON ft. Sia.' Seriously, we all pretend it doesn't exist.

A lot of their older stuff are heavily influenced to the era around the 90s so I think you love it so much because it reminds you of your child and a lot of music you heard around the times growing up. Their later albums really start to experiment and combine all kinds of music genres so you will hear music influences in much wider spectrums as you discovered watching The Story of BTS.

6:28 the butterfly is an important aspect of the BTS Universe, so I am not going to spoiler a lot, but it refers to what is known as the butterfly effect! you can check out the meaning when you will feel ready to dive into this story. Same thing for the clock hand missing, they are connected to the BTS Universe. It is normal that you are starting to notice those things but they are hard to comprehend unless you know the story. But once, you will dive into it, everything will be clear! Loved your reaction!

From a creativity kind of view I like their old MVs better as they didn't have the money to green screen the heck out of their backgrounds. They had to come up with creative and meaningful things without a lot of money.

The song you read the comments about was "ON". The song with only BTS is a bop and is one of the best BTS songs for most armys, it has a music video and a kinetic version. There is another version of that same song that includes few lines of Sia or I would say like backing vocals (idk) that is just a no no for most of us lol! Armys even have an inside joke where she sings the chorus of the song and it sounds like "I'm a fine green potato, yeah"

To think this song came with N.O.! It really shows how versatile they were from the very beginning! I remember I tried to create BTS fave playlist and I ended up adding almost every song just because of the beat and melody, before I checked out the lyrics. Then the few that I didn’t choose...ended up in my faves after I found out what they mean! Although I have listened to a few other kpop groups...I just haven’t followed any other groups because not all their music captured my attention. I know other groups are also very talented...but I don’t usually get so attached to every song I hear!

I had also thought of no hands on the clock meaning they have "no time" for all the personal things, especially at this point in their careers. Even though they were dedicated and hard-working, and willingly made that choice, there were times they lamented the lack of a personal life. SO good. And YES on the "no meh" songs. I have all of their albums and have listened to all of it and am amazed that I like ALL of - there are no "skip" songs. I haven't listened to all of their solo projects yet, but J-Hope and Suga's mix tapes are also winners - actually maybe Suga has two?? Not sure. And I've never been a real big fan of rap - I was of a mind that a little went a long way - I couldn't listen to a whole album of it. But even that is different with these guys - I love it. When I heard Suga's "First Love" - I cried. Rapping made me cry. When I couldn't even understand what he was saying and had no clue what it was about (I looked them up so I know now tho). That is the emotion they consistently pour into their music. It's amazing!

I love this song very much, it has such a calm and chill vibe! Also, as always, I enjoy the way you really take your time to understand the lyrics/message/music video - it is very appreciated! Oh and will you upload the Rise of Bangtan Chapter 3 today? Can't wait :))

Thanks for reacting to this beautiful song. I was just watching a live performance of this song and wishing they would bring it back in a concert. I feel you are right on the money when you said it is about time, but I don't think they are talking about having one MORE day with this person.....they were talking about having time to have a day at all (which could be their first time with them). It's a small distinction, but I feel like the title indicates this....It's "Just One Day", not "One More Day". As you have discovered, their CEO, Hitman Bang encouraged artistic freedom from the beginning. They have an old song called "A Typical Trainee's Christmas" which is basically bashing their company and complaining that they have absolutely no time to themselves. I was honestly surprised that their company let them release it, but again...artistic freedom. I feel the lyrics to this song are expanding on that theme...their schedules were so tight that they were wishing for Just One Day with a love interest. Just my interpretation. Thanks again for your reaction

Hi! Just wanted to share with you a little ARMY inside joke. This is the song that suddenly makes every ARMY COMPLETELY FLUENT in Korean. Literally, all of us feel that we can sing this song with confidence as soon as the chorus starts haha After listening to the song, what do you think? I’m not sure if I already asked this, but Can you react to “BTS vs Kpop” by bby gang as well as his three part series titled “You’re Wrong About Kpop”/“The Media Is Wrong About Kpop”/“Kpop vs Orientalism”? His videos are utterly phenomenal, and I’d love it if you could check out his other videos out as well about Kpop & BTS. They are so well-researched and non biased. He does the work that so many western reporters don’t when researching and explaining BTS and Kpop. He encapsulates so well how truly phenomenal BTS is in the Kpop industry, the pop industry, and the music industry as a whole. It helps that with how well he does his research, he shows so much respect for eastern concepts and their impact on the western world. It’s beautiful. One of the best Kpop/BTS videos I have ever seen!

The official lyrics on the MV are very simplified, and sometimes doesn't match the timing or are just wrong. I wish they'd make it better. RM's line was actually "You’re standing in the center of my heart"

The dance practice to this is a complete mess because Tae was laughing so hard that they had to use cut after cut when they're usually super smooth. I think we still want to know what they were laughing about so hard but this is a cute song that's sweet and sentimental. I really enjoy hearing when the rap line has melodic lines such as this because it shows they don't need to go full out hard and heavy to be a hip-hop group. (I think this was before they changed into more idol like.)
