Dude! Thanks so much for having me in the video! Real talk....thanks for being one of the best dudes in the gaming scene and beyond. Good man you are 🙏
I'd like to point out that being a bubble dragon is so fun, that despite being changed back to normal, "Bub" and "Bob" decided to go back to being bubble dragons in future games.
finally someone else questioning the word "wednesday", as a foreign who learned english, it was always weird saying the word as Wesday, or other words like "xenophobia" , "though", in fact, why are even words spelled like that? why are all the languages in the world so different, what is the meaning of the words and how did they get their meaning and why? why do we exist? who am I? i guess jirard is not the only one going insane huh?
Well, people were building a huge tower in order to reach God, but then God was like "Nuh uh!" and made it so they all spoke different languages and couldn't cooperate with each other, stopping them from building the tower... Seriously though, in the end, it comes down to groups of people mostly being isolated from others, coming up with their own ways to communicate, then interacting more with others as they expanded or as travel was easier and reading and writing more common... English is a mixture of so many other languages and then there are dialects and such within that... Over time different groups mispronounce stuff, shorten stuff, put their own spin on it... For a long time not everyone could read and write and there often wasn't standard spellings for everything... Trends also probably play a part... But yeah, if I remember correctly, Wednesday was originally Woden's day (Woden being another way of saying Odin)... Try saying that a lot fast and it can easily end up as Wed-ens-day, which can easily end up as Wens-day... A lot of our days are named after Norse/Germanic gods I think... I think Monday and Sunday are Moon and Sun... I forget about Tuesday, but I think it's connected to that mythology too... Thursday is Thor's day... Friday might be Frigg/Freya's day... But then Saturday is probably Saturn's day lol Bit odd... That said, I think months are more based on Roman stuff... Mars, Juno, Julius, Augustus... I forget. Xenophobia is Greek in origin, I believe... Although Greeks have a different Alphabet, so it must have been converted to the roman alphabet at some point, although I don't know who by... Though, on the other hand, has Germanic origin... Not sure how that might affect it... Sorry, this got a bit long... Hope you find it useful ^_^;
Great video Jirard, love the fact you teamed up with Pixel Game Squad on this one! Happy to see Riff on here helping you bobbing those bubbles! Classic game by some classy guys!
@@jacoboberdier8319 *Sings like I'm Wander from Wander Over Yonder* Bubble Bobble (Bubble Bobble!) This game was real (This game was real!) Bubble Bobble (Bubble Bobble!) What’s the appeal? (What’s the appeal?)
When I saw the title of this video, I thought "It's real! Someone else played this!", the first game I ever completed! The more I went on looking at it, however, more it's different from what I played: on Sega Master System, with 200 levels, 6 bosses (lv 40, 80, 100, 140, 180, 200), last level unlockable only if you collected hidden items and, if you complete it, you're out of the cave, no more dragon form, with the saved girlfriends. Also, the only videogame my dad liked when I was a child (except the slot machines in Pokemon games). Thanks for making me remember all this memories!
this was great to see I loved your original video of this with all the fans singing the song but this video featuring someone who was in the old video and you and your multiple personalities was hilarious glad you could recomplete this with Amanda and have a ton of fun while doing it
This has put the humourous spin on the lockdown that I needed! One of my favourite episodes of New Game Plus already! Also as someone spending this time to watch Community, I appreciate what I believe was a reference during the song segment.
This video gave me flashbacks to being 4 and playing this game for hours on end, slowly gaining anxiety until the skeleton monster showed up and I had a full on meltdown.
Bubble Bobble is my all-time favorite NES game. I passed all 100+ levels several times and was so happy the first time I got to the secret levels, that I wrote the password directly on my NES.
Great episode dudes! Love the banter back and forth. I've always loved this game but have also always thought the developers were using psychedelics and............A LOT of them lol. Well done guys. Cheers!
Riff: Don't forget about the theme song Jirard, remember, the one song that this game has, which you're going to hear, over and over and over and over and over and over, and you're gonna keep hearing it. *has the main theme playing on full blast* Jirard: Yeah, I'm sure everything is going to be fine! *stares into everybody's soul* Are you sure about that?! Lol! 😂😂😂
That is so messed up, I was literally thinking about this game a couple days ago then watched a speed run. Is this game making a come back or something.
@@lucapeyrefitte6899 Yeah, it is after like 100 levels with the main music. The boss music is much more frantic and repetitive. If listening to the main music that long gets to you, try playing the boss level over and over to beat it. Ugh... that actually did get to me, but I like the main bubble bobble music, so it never bothered me.
When I was 3 my mum played this and Ice Climbers with me... it was sooo hard but it was the only time I remember seeing my mum enjoy anything. Glad to hear you call it "pretty hard" cos I just thought I was too dumb lol
dude I freakin love you man, so hilarious and brought back many memories of watching my friends hog the computers playing this game when I was in summer school. It was this game, and.... Tyrian. We also had this library of fun DOS games (ie. burgertime, popeyes), earthworm jim, prince of persia etc. I kind of wish there was like a social media thing where people can suggest games and join game sessions. why isnt there something like this yet?!?!?!?! lol.
Thank you for another great episode! I've just started back at work this week and I look forward to the end of my shifts when I can go home and watch videos after a long day :)
to this VERY day, nearly 40 years later, my and my sister will be driving along, and one of us, (usually me xP) will start singing this song... and within in moments we are both BELTING it out like a GD ENYA song at the tops of our lungs..Always a good time, and yea, we know you're staring at us =P
Thanks for an entertaining episode. I've been doing a replay of Bioshock since being on quarantine. Something really enjoyable about replaying games I loved in my more isolated years right now. Stay awesome, Jirard.
Man, now this takes me back. Still think its surreal that my silly little iPhone video was chosen for that review so long ago. It was a pleasure to be in and it's nice to be remembered. 😊
As soon as the music was mentioned, I remembered the Brentalfloss parody of it, and I'm glad the comments show I'm not the only one It perfectly fit the insanity of the game, descending into madness as you play only to beat the game and be told to play again... and have to put up with it all over
I always called "Bust-A-Move" Puzzle Bobble and not Bust-A-Move, because back then when there was a SNK arcade machine in a bar/restaurant in my town, that's what one of the choices for the games were. The other was Metal Slug, i believe. Puzzle Bobble was just the name i was used to.
You know I actually liked this game quite a bit I remember when I would play this with my brother and living it playing for hours each day and only stopping after I would reach a new “high score” and it was always very fun
This game is nostalgic for me. When I was little I went over to grandmas house to play it with my cousin~ we weren’t very good, but I have fun memories~
bubble bobble was my first 1p2c game lol back in college I decided to just play it until I won one day, got to the end and it was like "lol bad ending, 2 player only pls" so I ran bub with my hands and bob with my feet lol
This theme... It's in my head.... You have pulled me out of my slumber Completionist.. I will now create a concert of this game... It might take a day.. it might take a week.. but, if you have a twitter... I will show you the evil that you sow!!
this one got hit hard with recommendations i got showed this 7 hrs later when normaly i am recommended it within minutes or 1-2 hrs. very odd love ya jirard great vids as always!!
Bub and Bob would be a cool assist trophy in Smash. Trap people in bubbles to make them susceptible to aerials or just keep them away from other items. When you pop the bubble with the player in it, they drop health restoring food. Bubble Bobble spirit event when?
I still have a NES and have bubble bobble, that game is awesome and that song i'll never ever forget. It's in my brain forever!!. I never knew there are 2 more endings after you beat the game, I only ever pllayed it alone! Maybe i'll find a friend to play it with. Curious now. Been a few years since I last played it.
All the talk about the music reminded me of a bit of what you had to do to 100% the Persona Dancing games. At least those games are relatively easy to complete to an extent anyone could complete all three of them in less time it would take to do a single playthrough of Persona 3/4/5.
I have been waiting for this one! Still one of my favorite games. Me and my brother would actually play together and still like playing it! I too have Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, I couldn't help myself!
I love the bit of Jirard losing his mind in this one, but I don't care for the existential nonsense approach. I know it can get to some people. I loved the bits of "I'm Santa Claus" and "Wednesday isn't a real word" the best though. Also, how does this game only have one song! You couldn't at least like...remix it a bit? No? Okay then.
My favorite arcade game of all time, loved it in 80s as a teenager, always played with my best friend, still play on mame.. all time classic. I feel so lucky to have been a teenager when it was in the arcade... happy times ☔🌈💧⭐🍒🍊🍍🍓
something that Fake Riff mentioned... there was a version of Bubble Bobble that did make boss fights happen every 20 levels or so, at least from good or bad memories i dunno... oh well... it's the handheld game boy version. Also, great music to get caught stuck in head for insanity, cause there is only .....
Whoa whoa whoa, wait a second! You can see Riff, too?! I thought I was the only one. He’d appear randomly on my computer screen or my phone. Always talking about games. I was sure he wasn’t real, but if you see him too, then... could Riff truly be real??? :O Great video! :)
Oh I fondly remember watching the old streams of Jirard completing this back originally. I tried to find an old dinosaur Halloween costume for my dog to get in the ols video but it was sadly gone.
Girard my dude, there's a Korean noodle company out there that totally made a bop out of this melody. Look up Samyang Ramyun and Bogeul Bogeul your way into a good time buddy~
Do people forget Hero's Tail existed? There's bubble breath in that one as well, and while not as good as the original trilogy, its much better than Enter the Dragonfly. Much less glitchy too
@@Kahadi Oh I know, I have fond memories of A Hero's Tail. I just saw an opportunity to make a joke, and it wouldn't work as well with a competent game.
@Emmanuel Goldstein Easiest answer I can give, I feel it's unfinished... I know aesthetic can be up to opinion, but I find the character models look like ugly puppets. But what's undeniable is that it's a glitchy mess and its controls are incredibly clunky... It's not Spyro at his best, not by a long chalk.
i played enter the dragonfly when i was a kid. it was ok back then, with barely playing the origional 3 now though with higher standards it uh sucks all the ass
