Celebrate 26 years of the classic Bubbleworks at Chessington World Of Adventures with a video showing the complete experience of this classic British dark ride.
The original ride operated for fifteen years before being redesigned by Tussauds Studios at the end of 2005 without the involvement of the ride's original designers. In the redesign, the ride's factory theme was changed to suit sponsor Imperial Leather. Several of the sets and props were recycled, extensively modified and repainted by Tussauds. Additionally, almost all the animations were removed or made static. In 2014 the Imperial Leather brand logos were removed or covered up, although the ride remained unchanged otherwise.
The ride closed in September 2016 and was re-themed to the Gruffalo.

Described it perfectly. I will never forget those smells also it was quite humid in there as well. Thanks for reminding Me. They never should have got rid of Bubbleworks it was Legendary 😢

such a shame that this has shut down :( I’ll still give the Gruffalo ride a go but it won’t fill the void that was bubbleworks. Used to make my trip to Chessington every year as a kid !

This was definitely the most memorable ride at Chessington (though to be fair Chessington isn't 100% dedicated to rides unlike Thorpe Park). It had a magnificent soundtrack, and the remix in the "bath area" was just beautiful. I know they sadly closed this whole ride 3 years ago, but it's always possible they'll bring it back one day. This might be wishful thinking but we'll see!

Me, too. Bubbleworks was so much more fun and the way that they practically set up the Gruffalo ride, I don't like. The Gruffalo in there looks nothing like the book and the sound and sudden light effects are too much for some of the more sensitive children or adults.

I'm glad I got to go on this for the first (and last time) this year. Reminded me a lot of Toy Land at Alton Towers. Meaning the replacement might be a bit naff.

I miss this ride so much omg. I remember when I was around 3-5 I'm not sure I would always go on this ride with my mum, dad and aunties. I used to be terrified at such a young age but bro I would do anything to get it back

I haven’t been to Bubbleworks in 15 years. I’m 26 now and to hear it’s no longer there pretty much sucks. I got the privilege to remember the original Bubbleworks and imperial leather’s Bubbleworks though, so there’s that❤️

Bubbleworks was my childhood since I first when on it with my family as a little girl. I have only been to Chessington a few times and last time I went in 2005 with mum. Love to go back one day.

You simply couldn’t beat Professor Burbs Bubble works. Classic set design with all the smells and moving animatronics. It’s sad to see The mummy ride losing its original set designs. The glass smashing on the fake ending of the ride, and the Celling and the scarabs

I went on fright night 2017 and the gruffalo ride made me happy!! They kept the fountains as well!! And when I went last year, Vampire was a 30 minute queue (got on after 15) And the Bubbleworks was a 40 minute wait (got on after 10 or 20 minutes)

I loved this bubbleworks ride and so gutted they changed it to Gruffalo...they should change it back or make it more colour oriented throughout maybe rainbows or hippos/cute animals....

I went to Chessington once in my life for a weekend, and easily spent a good chunk of the afternoon on just this one ride. I'm talking sitting through it repeatedly again and again... all the vibes were there. Tye smell and the atmosphere and the calm and ahhhh! Genuinely to hear they got rid of it ;-;

this brings joy to my heart so id like to share it with you all bubbleworks still exists to this day! as someone who works on rides in chessington gruffalo was built in a rush theres still paper of plannnjng and designs on the floors even so many years later. Gruffalo walls were built on top bubbleworks theres a small gap in the walls were old decoration still sits also if you go to chessington and go through the trail of the kings entrance next to the sea lions, take a peak over the shorter fence just on the outside of the trail on the right hand side you can spot old bubbleworks boats just sitting there!

This, along with "The Log Flume" at Alton Towers, were two legendary rides slaughtered by short-term greed (e.g. sponsorship). Maybe it was a blessing that both were eventually closed to put out of their misery.

Went to Chessington for the first time in 30 years with my eldest daughter and had to fill her in on how awesome bubbleworks was when I was her age… I hate what they’ve done to it now with the Gruffalo, it’s not the same! Awesome bit of nostalgia.

i owe a lot to this ride it was always one of my favoured rides at the park, it it very nostalgic, heck i even remember doing this 9 times back to back on a dead day with my dad (with a bubbleworks lollypop). sadly this si another ride that was made worse (the gruffalo is good dont get me wrong) by an IP. PS i miss hocus pocus

I went on the Gruffalo ride today as a 30 year old man taking my 2 year old son. It was my first time at Chessington since I was a child myself and I have very fond memories of professor Burp's Bubbleworks. To be honest I was pretty disappointed at what the ride has become, it just feels kind of...empty compared to before? Way less going on and no catchy music. My son enjoyed it but I wish he could have experienced the original iteration! This video was a great blast from the past, thank you!

I still cannot believe they took this ride out . It literally made chessington , chessington. The professor was the theme it was the whole point of chessington . The ride was almost at Disney standard with its detail especially when first opened ! It's definitely my least favourite theme park in England now . No ramseys revenge now either which was it's only good ride (except for vampire)

Bubbleworks Was An amazing ride its RIP But.... it is possible for it to come back This is soooo much more better than the 'Gruffalo river ride adventure' The smell the theme Its just too good i want them to bring it back.... They could just re theme it for a month and switch it back to gruffalo i dont know.

My 7 year old watched a pov ride video of the gruffalo (his most favourite book ) and one of bubbleworks as we are going for a friend's birthday. He has no interest in this ride if its not bubbleworks he said gruffalo looks very boring and i have to agree !
