Sensei Jesse, I just received this book as a gift from Sensei Mak and absolutely Love it. I mentioned to Sensei Mak that I wanted it and he ordered it for me. Thank you for the recommendation. Once I finish reading I will read it again. It's such a rare and exciting book.
I had the opportunity to experience a wonderful weekend training course under McCarthy Sensei. It was essentially organised for Shotokan karateka but we really enjoyed his excellent applications and thoughts on Shotokan kata. Hopefully more to come.
Thank you Jesse Sensei and McCarthy Hanshi for explaining how Luo Han Chuen (monk fist boxing) influenced karate. By the way, how come Chinese stylist tend to do sequences like this one in one fluid motion whereas in karate, sequences tend to be "broken down" with pauses between moves?
Anybody else see alot of similarity in style with some of the Silat styles? Would love to see a book done on the cross training and sharing of Ryukyu and Nusantera. Thanks.
Hello Jesse, I recently found your channel and find it amazing, However I have a question in case you may have a clue: Is this normal that wonderful Bubishi book you describe here is no longer available on Amazon ? Do you eventually know when it will be available again ? Thanks in advance for your answer
Very interesting video, but I find my eye being drawn towards the emergency exit door behind the mats . . . maybe it would be better to stack the mats where they did not create an obstruction? Anyway, Sensei McCarthy always interesting and informative too!
3:05 monk rings the bell. Tiki Shodan opening move for a dubble ridge hand strike to both temples or if facing the opponent u could strike both ball blatter 20 an then pull their head to u with a knee or use the spin from its Kata to throw them from their head as a K.O. Jesse Encap.... What do u think of this?
I wonder how they developed those cures 2 the strikes that kill over time? perhaps trial n error? any ideas? Im not sure they should b trusted what do u think?
Oh, HELL no! It is kind of a treatise on Chinese boxing, with a section on vital point striking, and a chapter that describes the original fist set that became the Gojushiho kata.
I purchased a copy of that Babushi and nearly threw it away. If not for that actual Babushi drawings at the end it would have ended up in the bin. The first two thirds, I thought was over written, self indulging self endorsement placed there only to show us how many big words he knows and how many friends he has. I found myself skipping through to the end of the book to find the relevant information.
