Yeah and will kill your local business owners and the possibility to the community to develop the own business make more depending of a big company that is part of a corporative
Fr for every person against it there has to be 20 for it because I would kill to have a Buc-ee’s near where I live. Some people hate change no matter how much value it adds
That's a bad thing? We all are trying to achieve that level of free time but until we do we clown others for having it. Weird. Def wouldn't spend it like this but hey I ain't them.
My town is in a rural area (tho in Ohio so this thing doesn’t even exist to us) but it would survive fine in small towns especially among a teen population where we are looking for jobs. 200 employees is not really hard to get unless it’s a super duper small town
They actually do well in rural areas, we had one just put in on the outskirts of my small hometown and it's doing very well because they pay higher than minimum wage. And that's hard to come by in a rural area.
Buc-ee’s only needs to have the people working there to survive. Doesn’t matter where you place a Buc-ee’s, people come like ants to sugar. Lots of truckers use Buc-ee’s, as it is a very good one stop shop for everything.
@@nothing_is_something8196 I have never seen this guy in my life but I just got about 3 videos within 10 minutes from this guy and they have all been about buc-ees
The only way to get to this buccees right now is from an exit ramp, a super busy intersection that you have to wait forever at, or cutting through an apartment parking lot. The location sucks.
@@DjBgremixesSaying location thrice places an emphasis on the importance of location. "Dummy" means they're calling the townspeople stupid for not realizing that they need employees and the city needs jobs, thus the "you need employment for your town." I'm not a mind reader, so please correct me if that's wrong, David. Keep being smart!
That just happened to the town I like in lol before that we had to drive 30 minutes to an hour to get groceries now there's a dollar general in walking distance
She wasn’t acting like a karen ffs, stop misusing the term, she’s a concerned citizen, probably concerned that a big chain will ruin local small businesses
Not just the old lady. Looks like the whole community has a problem and it’s probably more nuanced than just a 20 second video. I wouldn’t single her out it’s a bit disingenuous
Funny thing its on the outskirts tht lady is a karen along with all the others it is not in the middle of town or in the way. Im from denton and these pepole the reason i will never move back
I stumbled upon this place on my way back from Florida… I was AMAZED at how clean and convenient it was! The bathrooms! My goodness! Management walking around wiping off small spills, and straightening out merchandise. I absolutely love this place. Can’t wait to go there again.
Starting pay here in Texas is 15 dollars an hour and managers make up to 30 dollars an hour. They pride themselves on being the best stop along your route and it shows. I'd rather stop at a buccees for a bathroom/snack break than any gas station out there. Plus they make their food fresh every morning or certain things they make when you order.
As somebody who has been in Texas basically his whole life, is this how people out of state really see it? There's quite a buck-ee's cult here (primarily white women) who are absolutely in love with it as well but it's like.. just any other convenience store really. I mean granted yeah it's "better" in many senses, I just don't get how some people treat it as if it was a trip to the Mecca
@@dubszn22 No, but I would imagine it was quite an adjustment for the town and the people in it. Not to mention the amount of construction a Buc-ee's store requires.
@@dubszn22 u making it sound like u lost a loved one or something. It's just construction and traffic. If u don't wanna deal with that move to the woods
These are always great to hear you speak on. This is the kind of real life stories of how our economy works and what is effecting communities all across America.
“Right in the city” is a stretch. It is, first of all, out by the interstate, and second of all it is in a commercial area out in the suburbs. I am a Denton resident, this was not a topic at any point.
This fellas right it is way out the way and everyone I know was just excited that buc-ees was coming to Denton and I have been living here for about 6 years
@@PurpJones there was never a large motion to stop the bucees. Everyone liked the idea of having a bucees. And to my point earlier, it is so far out of the way that nobody cares. You have to get on the interstate to get into the city from bucees.
@@MyGasherbro it’s a big gas station, what does that have to do with gentrification? They’re located near Dallas. Of course they’d have a lot of people traveling through that would stop in the store
That city has the traffic problem because of childless cat ladies like the ones in the video no doubt as well. "Why, why do you have to build a bigger highway right here?"
I am resident of Denton and have lived here all my life. I can adamantly say there was no push back from the community about this Bucee’s being built. Everyone embraced and like this idea. I find it strange that I never heard about this push back that you are discussing.
Those youtubers/tiktokers find some random news and blow it out of proportions. Probably a couple residents objected and somehow it was interpreted as the whole community got outraged. The short format is perfect for that kind of misinformation, as the creators don't need to do research to fill out 5+ minutes. They just repeat a "fact" they heard or summarize a single article they read.
There was zero pushback for that outdoor mall there was well. The pushback was probably from those contractors taking over 30 years to compete the 35/820 split construction…
If there is a population over 50,000 you can garentee 30 karens will bitch at city hall over a sidewalk being built. The threashold for "no complaint" isn't actually zero complaints. So by reasonable standards, there was no real pushback.
Could it be because that is where you have viable land available near several major interstates and highways? I'd argue that 2201 S Interstate 35, Denton is a much better location, but you know The Golden Triangle Mall is already located there.
@@shawnpitman876 No, I'm not. It's internet humor. I guess you're not familiar with it. NIMBYs exist, they are those townfolk who get a "say" by force or bs lawsuit if they have to.
I live in Denton, there was a small amount of actual pushback from the community but there was overwhelming excitement for them to build it in Denton. They even named a street after it. It’s now incredibly popular, employs hundreds of people in the town, and is loved by the citizens. Hell people will literally go there just to buy dinner for their families at least once a week because their food is good and somewhat reasonably priced for cooked meals.
In 2019 when I moved to Texas, I LOVED Buc-ees, good prices, amazing 80 fountain drinks the big one only $0.89 and gas cheaper than surroundings. Now Buc-ees blew up and I hate it, I only go to use the restrooms and leave now. Prices up the wazoo, gas no longer cheaper than across-the-street gas station, and drinks went up to $0.99 and then $1.19... fk that Buc-ees.
@@pinchespanochas277 pro tip, pack onions. And when a racist says some racist shit, rub onions on yourself, then if they ask why, tell them that garlic repels rats.
As someone who has lived in Denton for years, this is BS. A couple of Karens were upset, but 99% of the people were happy to be home to this Texan Staple
The problem would be the unwanted uptick in traffic. And it will be A LOT of traffic which would upset the locals and the neighboring homes and/or community.
@@LeeLeeLeeLeeLeebetween that and buc-ee’s don’t care that people have to get displaced from their homes where they want to build their store, I used to live by the interstate where this company wanted to build, my state made us sell our house and property to the state just so buc-ee’s could build their store, I’ll never step foot onto any of their stores.
Maybe she just doesn't want to deal with unnecessary traffic? Buc-ees is too popular in Texas. And Dallas (including Denton), is full of roads under construction and people already drive like assholes here.
@@EDKKPR Wtf are you talking about 💀. Bucc-ees adds way too much traffic to one spot. I can see where she's coming from completely. Also, not to mention. The *only* thing good about bucc-ees is they have cheap smokes. Otherwise it fucking sucks.
@@willlloyd8091 let's see its Denton within a town. You have the college downtown area, and you have the outskirts (the two Walmarts.) And both dislike the other, but that's from 2013. Could be different now. Like how the town against this place popping up here. I'm sure it was going in the area of the waffle house. Lol
@@willlloyd8091 I know what he means. Denton used to be really far away from Dallas. But as the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area has grown and expanded out, Denton is starting to get swallowed up in the “city”. As DFW grows from 8 million people to 10 in the next few years, Denton will definitely join. However, Denton still thinks of itself as a small town, not a suburb. So they have “small town problems” (like competing Walmart’s with beef from 2013), whose culture is considered really weird from city folk.
I live in middle Tennessee in a little town of about 12,000. There's a Buc-ee's a few miles away from where I live, and it's not small. There must be 30-40 gas pumps which isn't even big for Buc-ee's. But nobody complains about it. Place is always bumpin.
Do you have a family, or a home/business? Towns and cities handle things like zoning on a local level. If people think it would be detrimental to their town for any reason, maybe they moved there to have a quiet place to raise kids, then they can fight against things like that. These kinds of presentations aren't unusual, sometimes the company or person proposing the new development will answer questions/concerns and speak to any benefits of having the new business. Some cities will even work with businesses, offering them incentives to bring new business or development if they decide its worth it.
@@zakpodo it’s college town with two universities, if you wanted a quiet place I don’t think Denton is it. Also the location is right next to other stores and restaurants.
I worked at the on right night to Texas Motor Speedway. Everyone said getting to the Denton Buc-ee's was the hardest thing. Its dumb. If you miss the exit you have to loop all the way back around. Its really an annoying way to get to it.
@@DanJanucik Dude... most of the people in this comment section and this creator are the type of people that miss that big ass beaver warning you TWICE that the exit is coming up and STILL miss the exit. lol "👁👄👁 It's not me that's the problem... it's the beaver!" xD
I’m from Denton, the backlash came when they were gonna put it near a higher end neighborhood, just south of Denton, and then they proposed to move it 3 miles up the highway, where they were currently developing apartments, and without residents yet, no backlash. It’s like right in a commercial district now but that intersection still sucks hard
Yeah ppl really talking like “sO cOnCeRnEd oVeR a BuCcEeS” but no one is wanting to ask WHY yall would have a problem with it. There’s literally movies about people protesting shopping malls because they wanna build on a public park. This is why you should never judge before you get the full story.
As a truck driver, I will never go to Buccee's. 18-wheelers are not allowed on the property unless you are delivering to the store. Actually parked on the shoulder of the off-ramp to walk across to a Buccee's, and as soon as I walked in, I was met by a manager who told me they do not allow truck drivers in the store. Went back in my personal vehicle the next day, and when the same manager saw me in the store he ordered me to leave, stating they do not want any business from truck drivers, even if they are not driving their truck at that time. Even threatened to call the police and have me arrested for trespassing. As far as I am concerned, KwikTrip and KwikStar and Casey's are much better than any Buccee's could ever be, and are much more trucker-friendly. The biggest mistake the founder of Buccee's made was alienating such a large group of potential customers.
You got your own places to go. Bucees knows that it’s nice for families to have a place to stop on the highway where our kids can go to clean bathrooms without having to watch Jethro bathe 3 feet away from them.
“Out in the middle of nowhere”…along some major Interstate highway….that employees can easily get to with cheap ass Texas gas prices. Buccees can easily be on the edges of metropolitan complexes.
We don’t have to live there, they built a buc-ee’s on interstate 65 and Huntsville Brownsferry Road in Alabama, and 20 of us had to sell our homes and property to our state just so they could build their lame store.
I live about 30 min from that, but 5 minutes away from the fort worth bucees next to the Texas motor speedway. The one in Denton is much more convenient for people coming in from the north into Texas on 35N it's location and exit off the highway isn't causing that much delay at all and it's helping the college town get more traffic
I loved the buckees in denton. I just wished they had opened back when i was an uber driver. Their pristine restrooms, huge cheap drinks and 24\7 snacks would have saved the day multiple times. I also loved that they made a bridge in in the freeway just for that buckees. That would have saved the day day so many times as well. Before that, if you missed your the exit before that, it would add another 5 minutes to your commute. I was new in denton back then so i would often miss that exit and there wouldn't be another one for miltiple miles. It made me want to pull my hair every time.
I lived there before, during, and after they built it, and the entire community was not like that. Actually, the vast majority of us were very excited.
