Great ride, Phil. I have a friend with a villa in Bucerias, he never mentioned the bike riding there (only the surfing). Will have to check it out! Your hill climb record is totally safe, btw.
Love your channel Phil! May I suggest taking a look at the area just north of San Francisco (Marin and Sonoma counties)? This is Levi L's home. There are lots of beautiful and challenging climbs here. Levi has taken many of the KOMs, and I'd love to see you come up here and take some of those. Kings Ridge, Skaggs Springs, the Geisers, and Pine Flat are just a few of the best ones. Check it out!
2:44 "Joel showed me through the warm up... think he planned to just sit on me for as long as he could... he was in for a bit of a rude awakening". This made me laugh - would be good to see the pain on Joel's face as he tried to hold the wheel :)
There is a moment in the warm-up where Phil goes to like 500+ watts and Joel is spinning out in his largest gear... Will give you a bit of perspective. In the old man's defense, Phil drilled the first 6km at 30 kph and dropped him nicely :) www.strava.com/activities/1328284773/segments/32894954851
@@BiciBucerias yes... good times for sure... a few weeks earlier I managed to hold Butler's wheel for 14 km and figured what the heck... but he started way faster and it was crazy... put's it all in perspective ...at the 14k mark Phil had over 3 1/2 minutes on my p/b and then he just went faster... makes you understand what being a regular mortal really is like ;)
In watching one of your previous video's, I decided to try your method of uphill TT'ing. I had good results from that experiment. My latest video is of that pacing experiment in prep for the event that is happening in two weeks. Give it a looksee if you have time. I'll have a followup video soon on other prep before the event.
