Rahova si Ferentari au cateva zone naspa, dar sunt cartiere decente, curate, unde nu este problema cu colectarea gunoiului sau nu sunt probleme legate de electricitate. Te-as sfatui sa vezi periferiile din Napoli, Salerno, Paris(Saint-Denis), Praga...chiar si Berlin. Bine, in Berlin e jeg si-n centru!

Într-adevar, am fost deja, si pot sa-ti spun ca n-am recunoscut nimic, nici macar strada pe care am copilarit! Este frumos Bucurestiul, dar cum vremea era îngrozitor de calda, am fost putin în Bucuresti, mai mult la munte si la mare. În orice caz, ne-a placut mult si daca o sa se poata o sa-l mai vizitam si la anul.

Am observat ca boii de comunisti aveau obsesia ca la bulevardele principale sa fie numai blocuri... daca mergi pe stradute adiacente sunt multe strazi cu case istorice... problema e ca ele nu sar in evidenta pentru un tur si pentru straini... Sectorul mentionat e practic centrul si e cel mai circulat de toata lumea... Are numai blocuri comuniste si foarte putine cladiri istorice cu o anumita arhitectura...

A part of what you wrote is true but it's not an explanation. You presented one side of the coin with some sort of subjectivity. Transylvania indeed enjoyed a very special status in the Middle Ages. Her population was a mixture of different nations. Germans or Saxons especially in the cities had some sort of autonomy and self-jurisdiction. I don't doubt that Romanians lived in the territory at that time, but Romanian sheperds begin to roam there in greater masses from the 15th century. About the ethnogenesis you forgot to mention the other (at least as much likely to be true) theory. In the Ancient Times the territory and later province of Dacia was captured and somewhat romanized by the Romans. During the Great migrations the Roman army and militia moved out of that area and returned to safety South of the Danube. It's a question if the common people moved too or not, but maybe we will never find an answer to that. It's also a question where the Romanian language developed from the Vulgar Latin. The Austro-Hungarian Empire existed between 1867 and 1918, so I don't understand how the Romanians defended themselves during centuries. During the Turkish wars however Hungarians and Romanians fought together in several battles (Bulgarians also were in our "coalition"), even after we were conquered by the Turks. The hostility roots in the 19th century. During and after the revolution of 1848 the relationship between Hungarians and other nations or nationalities were deteorating severely because of 3 different reasons. 1. The Habsburgs tricked the nationalities to fight the Hungarians by promising them autonomy and other rights which later they denied by the Constituition of Olemuc (or Olmütz). 2. The Hungarian Governments in the 2nd half of the 19th century were extremely agressive towards the nationalities and heavily opressed them. It backfired later on. 3. Both the Hungarian and the Romanian political elite consciously turned these two nations against one another. After the first World War the Monarchy collapsed and was divided as the Entente wished. Now curse me if you want but compared to what Romania did in that war, they didn't deserve that land of that size as a reward. Hungary didn't have an own independent army (Austria was the leading power in the Monarchy) and the troops who came back from the fronts were disbanded. After this the Romanians against the will and the treaties with the Entente (their own allies) crossed the boarders and occupied half of the country including Budapest. Finally the Americans could turn them down from further agression. Just imagine how the Hungarian public opinion about Romania could be at that time. During the 2nd World War we were allies due to Nazi-German pressure but we didn't like each other that much. During the Soviet Occupation and the Socialist Era the same happened. These days in Hungary many nationalities (including Romanians) have extended rights, they can have their own administration, election, cultural and educational institutes etc. Today the biggest issue between us that generates tensions is the Székely (or Sekler) Autonomy. I wanted to give a more detailed background about the roots of the hostility which I hope will dissapear for forever in the near future, even though that's not very likely. I'm a Hungarian but I've been to Romania (not to Bucharest yet though but I really want to visit that fantastic city). I have Romanian friends and I even intend to study Romanian. As times passes more and more Hungarians and Romanians think likes this and if the bastard politicians don't screw this up, we can cooperate and live together in harmony.
