Buck 110 new S30V Micarta review + purist rebuttal from Uncle Randy 

I’m with Uncle Randy on this. I mean his arguments are wrong, but that mustache gets him such an air of authority.

A loveley modern take on an old favourite. Design, aesthetics and materials are much improved and the lightness compared to the original is a definate bonus. The crowning glory for this knife though is clearly that excellent pocket clip. Wide enough not to dig into the hand during use, short enough not to be too obvious during every day carry and the 'proud' retention screws ensure that the knife will never fall out of the pocket. That lovely anvil logo cut into it is the icing on the cake. Absolute genius from the Buck design team.

The broken 💀 isn't made in America, but the fit and finish is better, even at the lower price. Also, it has a stronger lock, can be taken apart, and has more blade. Value wise, it's an easy choice. But yeah, old heads will love the buck.

The 110 select is my favorite buck knife. you get good geometry and the best 420HC for about $30. For any more than that I wouldn’t want riveted construction.

Oh my God Pete I can't breathe. I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect and hysterical parody of Buck 110 owners (of which I am one). The rest of the video is great but doesn't hold a candle to Uncle Randy. And that clip is a deal breaker sorry to say.

I think I’m an outlier on the clip, but I actually love it. It works really well, it’s super robust (weak point on some knives), and I find the aesthetic kind of works for a nod to the old school heritage. Excellent knife though. I’ve owned so many knives over the years and it’s one of my favorites if not my favourite even over all the fancier more modern stuff.

I agreed with you on every point, except the new blade profile..... I wish I could get one with the old clip point design.... that’s why I went with the broken skull instead

The original one is great and I hope they keep making it. But I like most all of the new ones too. But that pocket clip is just bad. I think they could put a bottle opener there instead of the anvil logo hole.

I was trying to figure out what that hole in the clip was. Call me ignorant but I could not figure out what that is. Now that I see it, I agree with you. I knew I would not like screws, they’ll eventually tear up my pocket.

Man. Why do people have to always get upset when things are gradually improved? Pretty much all pocket knives, have pocket clips because it was a great idea. Innovation isn't something to get mad at. Love the uncle randy character btw. He's had such a character arc.

I love the 110 design but I've returned every one I've bought. Just can't seem to find one that has good centering and lockup. Sometimes one or the other but never both.

Buck QC seens to be a really mixed bag. Of the 3 I currently own and the dozens that have passed through my hands over the years I have seen crazy swings in how well finished they are (even when looking at models from the same year of manufacturing). The other day I was in the knife area of the local sporting goods store and of the 5 Bucks in the display case 3 were excellent, 1 was acceptable, and 1 shouldn't have left the factory IMO. I don't know if it's an issue with their processes or maybe training & standards for employees, but I don't see why they can't up their standards.

I think I’m going to splash for the Pro Plus in s35vn from Copper & Clad. Something about black micarta and nickel silver really tingles my balls. I figure it’ll be great for the car or pack.

I would buy it if it had liners…. My mirror polish broken skull in Cts-xhp without the billboards on it is a better knife i think. That dlc coating took forever to sand away. Hours and hours of sanding. Cold steel clips suck. Fix it with a screwdriver and a pair of needle nose

$200 for a buck knife. Never ever. I paid 180 for my benchmade 551-1 and the quality is night and day. This knife shouldn't be more than $100 imo. If I was getting a lock back design I'd rather buy a cold steel broken skull for $68 with a better lock.
