One of the proudest days and saddest days of my career. I sat in a room all day with the late great Buck O'Neil as he was denied induction into MLB's Hall of Fame...This video was produced while engaged by Time Warner Cable/Metro Sports
And now he is in! Glad the Hall of Fame finally corrected their mistake. Sucks it took until after he passed for him to be inducted. I can't imagine how epic his induction speech would have been.
Sad his induction took so many years and came about after he was not here to enjoy it! I did not know who he was, or about his accomplishments until this year. He is a credit to the Hall!
Ralphiekid34 Can you imagine in 2006 the Hall inducted 17 Negro League players…and left John “Buck” O’Neil out??? Truly a black mark on the Hall and even though they belatedly corrected it 16 years too late they denied this man an opportunity to see his plaque in the Hall. And yet Harold Baines and Mike Mussina are there! What a tragedy.
Buck O'Neil should have been in the Hall of Fame. MLB just gave him a award to make up for their mistake. I met Buck O'Neil in Chanute, KS. He was a great person and he got to play with some legends and play against alot of lengends. He told how played against MLB teams and saw Jackie Robinson when he played with him on the K.C. Monarchs. He said he saw Babe Ruth and he told he started playing in the Negro League Baseball at the age of 17. So much stories. HOF should of voted him in.
Great man and a wonderful ambassador for baseball. But his numbers as a baseball player unfortunately are simply not worthy of induction into the Baseball hall of Fame. So I think baseball in the end got it right sorry to say..........
