How rare is on RU-vid for a fella to get something free to test out and he actually uses it for a year before giving an opinion? I actually remember the mail room episode when he received this belt and to me seeing the review now speaks volumes for the guys credibility
@joelupo3365

Yeah, too often you see reviews where a person got it, tested it for a few hours at best and then gives a review which often doesn't provide enough info on longevity and quality.

@L F He said they were the best boots for the money under the consideration that you're going to be replacing your boots at least once or twice a year if you're wearing them every day for hard labor, no matter what level of quality you buy at. Do you want to pay 50 dollars every time, or 250?

As an Australian construction worker I’ve been using Buckaroo belts and their other products for over 10 years and have never had a problem with any of it. The functionality, quality and the longevity that I have experienced with Buckaroo products is second to none. Top quality products that are well and truly superior value to anything else on the market.

I currently work in research, and my favourite bit of your episodes, is "keep up the good work". You have no idea what i do, but when you say it feels like your talking to me. A good tip at the end of the day or on lunch if your feet are hurting is to elevate them for around 15-20 minutes about the level of your shoulders if they were inclined so that fluid that made the swell can drain and you'll feel the difference. Back pain often occurs because the lumbar area/small of the back has been held in torsion to long it's why laying in a hammock or on the floor begins hurting since its natural curve was being forced flat. Though it might look silly 4-5minutes of stretching before beginning to work or during a break can almost eliminate it during an especially long day and it's why athletes just don't start out cold before a workout/run because it helps prevent injuries. You may appear to be a prima ballerina on break but that flash of pain after sitting or getting back to work will feel like you never stopped because the muscles that were at rest need a few minutes to get circulation/loosening up so before called on again.
@717UT
@717UT 4 года назад
You are absolutely right. It's long overdue that the construction industry needs to take things like this seriously for the welfare of their workers. But when the dollar rules the time, people end up mattering less.
@TheDwightMamba
@TheDwightMamba 3 года назад
I also put a fresh pair of powdered socks and insoles [10 in rotation Mon-Friday] in a zip lock baggie. At lunch I sit with my feet up and eat lunch while my feet enjoy the breeze. Coming back from break with fresh dry feet is like nothing else. My ex saw me prepping 20 pair of socks, she called me a psycho, but she wasn't paying any bills. All that weight was on my shoulders, which transferred directly to my feet.

I’m a NZ Carpenter working in the Outback Central Qld Australia, I have used every tool belt there is, the buckaroo tool belt system has been a godsend. It’s been on my hips for 5+ years, the most comfortable stout tradesman’s belt there is. Their pouches are just as awesome. 👌🏽 good to see you having the same thoughts brother.

2observant no problem at all. It’s an awesome feeling when you find a product that meets your needs. I use the hammer & chisel frog with 3 large pocket nailbag. Not to heavy and very customisable with some of my old leather pouches.

Scott lays it out in the most honest and believable way. While sitting on a bucket he says “They sent it to me. Think about it as you will.” In addition to teaching countless people about many skills, I believe that he will influence them to be honest and ethical. This man is creating a legacy to leave for mankind. Wow, a company and their product could not get a more thoughtful, credible, and thorough evaluation and endorsement. A very smart move to send the belt to the Essential Craftsman! And by the way, yes my back and hips hurt constantly from spinal injuries, so the belt with suspenders appeals to me.

The criterion I use when a supplier “gifts” me a product to try and review is ‘If it disappeared tomorrow would I spend my own money to replace it that afternoon?’ To me that makes me more objective about the product.

Why are suppliers giving you products to review, and where are you posting these reviews?
@ebudrow1

Andrew Delashaw I’m a contractor and through my suppliers I am given products periodically to give feedback to the manufacturer for improvement or the supplier to see if it’s a product that they will be making available.
@wb5mgr
@wb5mgr 3 года назад
Andrew Delashaw its not uncommon at all in industry for suppliers to just give stuff to customers as an enticement to a potential sale either. They might call it a demo or review item. You may be allowed to keep it or have to return it depending on many factors. I have been offered stuff many times (some I asked for, some was just offered... some I accepted and some not) depends on if you are ok with the strings.

I went to a 3 1/2" wide belt 16-17 years ago and never looked back . It wasn't a buckaroo, but all nylon. It doesn't hurt at all. When I switch to my drywall tools, it has a 2" belt and I know the difference. I'm sure that only the weight difference (not much weight to a knife, a circle cutter, a measuring tape, and a surform pocket plane on one side, an ax on the back, and a handful of nails and a pocket fulll of screws on the other side) saves me from a sore back. I have since switched out my belt for my electrical tools and pouches to the same 3 1/2" nylon belt as well as for my logging pouches and tools. I don't use a tool belt when I am plumbing, welding, or doing mechanical work. Scott, I am continually amazed at how parallel our lives have gone and I have often questioned my course as I walked it. You were in a world that was 20 years ahead of techniques than in Nova Scotia at the same time. I've always been a little ahead of the curve, using Larry Haun's methods of production framing when all around me everyone was stick framing and working HARD! I kept up just by being more efficient. I was looked at kind of strange, but now I see that I was actually okay. Thanks for all you do and teach. I've learned some from you, mostly blacksmithing stuff because I have only just begun that and it is another skill/trade in an already very full life of hobbies. Keep up the good work.

What a testimony for a product. Belts and bags have hurt my back and hips for years and years hearing this is enough to get me to try it out and give you my feedback. I am editing to say I ordered the belt bags hammer holder and a few other items. I am retired and actually fighting a terminal disease that being said I am doubling the size of my house completely changing the floor plan adding 1 1/2 bathrooms and several other changes including a new kitchen while expanding my bedroom by 4' each direction and his/her closets as the disease progresses if I survive longer than most then a wheelchair and many more medical devices will increase dramatically so I want to be prepared for the worse and I want our home to be in excellent condition and ready to another 25-30 years for the other half especially being she has a long lifespan in her background both her parents well her father passed a couple of years ago at 87 and her mother is 87 now and thankfully doing well for her age plus her grandparents lived to be in their very late 80's as well one of then was into their early 90's just don't remember which one right now my memory isn't what it used to be just four years ago.

I bought a new belt for my tool bags last fall. My toolbags are just cheap nylon ones and the new belt is from Amazon, nothing fancy, but it has the inner padding and outer belt like yours, and I agree that I don't know why I didn't get one long ago. My only excuse is that I only use mine a couple times a year, so it wasn't high on my radar. I'm glad you're in less discomfort; it makes the day go easier.

Just picked this belt up along with some buckaroo nail bags. Had the nylon version of the occidental bags EC uses for about just over a year but have been torn up slipping between rebar (highrise formwork). Gonna givr this a test run and make my own verdict.

12years in the trade here in Australia, and i still have my first buckaroo toolbelt! though i dont quite fit in it anymore, i seem to have grown sideways a little bit since i was 16. anyone looking for these from the states can find them on Ebay though i dont know what postage will be like.

There is a completely valid reason why your back is not hurting as much since wearing this toolbelt: it is functioning like an SI joint stability belt. SI belts apply pressure to the circumference of your pelvis, helping to stabilize the pelvis and allow you lumbar spine to function more effectively. Often low back pain gets confused with SI joint dysfunction. And even if you do have pain on your actual lower spine it is usually accompanied with dysfunction in your SI joint. This type of dysfunction is often caused by bending forward-something that you and people in your profession-do a great deal. So yes, you are are right. You are not imagining things!

On behalf of our Chinese overlords, thank you for promoting this Aussie product... I’m a steel worker for Australia and I’ve had one for years...I could never go back! The suspenders sure do make a big difference

Those Chinese overlords you refer to are going to hell due to the way they are treating us Aussies and other countries around the world. I avoid all Chinese made products at ALL costs and will 1st and foremost buy Aussie made, then in no particular order USA, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Mexico........ There is growing army of Australians who are doing the same thing. FIGHTBACK AGINST THE CRAP COMING FROM THE CCP.

Kind of reminds me of when we were changing load bearing equipment in the Army. I started out with the old ALICE gear (Vietnam era) and we all talked trash about the new MOLLE (pronounced "Molly") gear when they began issuing it. We swore it would be cumbersom and too flimsy to hold up to the day-to-day operations of combat arms training and warfare. It was ugly too. Boy were we completely wrong. Glad you were more receptive to trying new things than we were.

I still have my old ALICE gear because they didn't want it back at CIF when I was out-processing. I could have sold it at one of the surplus stores around Ft Stewart, but I held onto it and still have it almost 30 years later.

I've always wondered which was/is truly the best way to go, the suspenders or just the belt. Like you, prefer the wide belt for the reason of, as you stated, back support. Great review, cheers :)

I've been wearing Occidental leathers since 2005. Same set, when I got a new set of bags almost every year before them. I've said I won't be doing this job next year for the last 10 years. I'm ordering a set of these based on your amazing review, just in case I'm still swinging a hammer in 2040.

I was told by my boss and workmates to get a Buckaroo belt and pouches when I started in the industry in 2012. I still take the same belt to work with me now. I've had to re-rivet my hammer frog, and one of the pouches is just starting to show some wear - all after 8 years of use/abuse.

The other thing I would like to say is I see all these fantastic tools that are readily available in the USA but hard to come by here. Like the Skilsaw just arrived inline motor rather than out to the side like our base model circular saws are. Not going back to them. Skilsaw all day. Also Diablo blades only made it onto the shelves a year ago. Can't beat them.
