Took my son to this show for a surprise birthday gift. He was blown away by Buckethead. We are both huge fans. Thank you Buckethead for giving my son a great 17th birthday.
@@bennoakes2477 I disagree and don't find it boring. I respect your opinion but no, people aren't lying to themselves for loving his live shows. Especially us guitarists
Not much can be said other then amazing. It’s like under $20 bucks a ticket, you get to have your face melted for nearly 2 hours standing only feet from one of the best guitarists of our time. Hands out toys. Best value for any performance out there. Where as these main stream doofus’s charge 60 bucks and up for you to stand 100 yards away in the nose bleed while you get to listen to them prance around the stage lip syncing to their own CD for 45 mins and you sit in traffic trying to leave.
what a beautiful community, the buckethead lovers.. no insult, no defamation, no competition, no nothing.. only good vibes, only good feelings, under same music.
That's because it takes a different kind of human being to fully appreciate Bucket, one that does not think/feel/act like the rest of the human beings.
When I was 16 I went to school dressed as Buckethead for Halloween. Yellow Rain suit, KFC bucket, FUNERAL sign, long hair wig and kabuki mask. And I wore my guitar the whole day and was just jamming everywhere I went. Had one of those mini battery powered marshall stacks in my back pocket haha. Even during class the teachers kept telling me to knock it off and I would maybe give them 5 or 10 minutes and then start noodling again haha... I got a whole lot of "what the fuck are you supposed to be??" But that just made it that much cooler, to me at least. Oh and I'm 36 now... so that was 20 years ago! haha. It's been a while since I thought about that, but right now I'm shit-eating-grinning like a fool remembering it...

I have to admit, i don't hear it either, but since Chris Cafiero posted the archive.org song names of this performance (archive.org/details/buckethead2016-09-24.mtx.flac16) and it was on there, i thought i should go with his judgement when uncertain.
completely shreads the guitar with ease for a full show, then hands out a bag of gifts to people while friday the 13th theme plays, then casually waves bye and walks off. Legendary.
I totally agree, we saw a show in Syracuse same year. We were 5 feet away. We could only look at each other with our jaws dropped. I'm 63 and we've seen all our heroes several times. We were almost speechless on the way home. Haha it's still hard for us to talk about it today. Nothing like Buckethead ever!
@@dovydas4483 just found out about Buckethead my old drummer played with Paul Gilbert in Racer X now he plays with Judas Priest I heard Buckethead took lessons from Paul then i heard him on RU-vid so i am just starting to listen to him he is amazing
I can totally understand why the crowd looked dead... I myself was lost while listening to his music. That is probably the best crowd one can have. A crowd who understands his music and appreciates him from their hearts. Buckethead is the best.
It could also be because the show is probably most likely small. I heard stories of him playing for small crowds yet being so humble. He probably prefers the smaller venues and crowds considering him being an introvert.
@@youthmanrecords965 Yeah, but he is a showman, and the robotics and just the weird alien sounds he gets from his guitar places him in that 1%er club. The pink floyd type of mystery and secrecy about him, keeps people in awe of him. He's an enigma for sure!!!
Just because people aren't jumping around and going apeshit doesn't mean they're drones or anything. A lot of those people are probably just really fucking blown away. If I was there I wouldn't be moshing or anything I'd be there to study his fucking hands and enjoy his music. I'd be going apeshit in my head and I'd probably be smiling nonstop.
that's a great point Roland. If anyone was to look carefully, the real reason you can't see anyone dancing is that the place is so packed that there's no room dance if they wanted to. my take is that this was a very appreciative crowd in awe of this great guitar player.

Gosh I love Buckethead. I love how he can play the craziest run with the utmost precision, then a simple melodic phrase, then when the time calls for it he'll play a nasty lick with reckless abandon to give it that human touch. He just does it right man.
Thats cuz the masses are but sheep and they cant appreciate those who dont conform to their ways..they idolize talentless individuals who make garbage that is nothing more than an imitation of some other talentless individuals garbage...while they deny the talent and skill of true innovators.those who are one of a kind..watch 20years from now buckets music or atleast his style will finally catch on all while all of us will be like "u aint do nothing new.somebody was playn like that 40years ago" hahaha and theyll be like no way haha
I think that was one of the strangest things about his show when I seen him. He doesnt say anything. Ever. When the show is over he waves and walks off the stage.
Bbloody shit. Buck is unique, incredible playing, bizarre and absolute complete Guitar Hero. I would die 4 him without thinking a second about. But u know, Music is Not a competition and in Art there are no number ones or goats. Art is free from that shit
Non-musician here ...how does he remember all his songs? It's amazing to me, among MANY other things with his performance, that he can flow so seamlessly from one track to another. Just amazing
He improvises a lot of it. I doubt he remebers all 9f his 400 albums note for note. He plays his songs a litlle bit differently every time. It's kinda cool
Basically like others have said it's the improvisation skill. This also goes into remembering his riffs. All he has to do is find his root note & then start piecing together the intervals from memory
There are so many talented and skilled guitar players... but Buckethead is unsurpassed. The amount of albums, the unbelievable skill, the equilibrium between melodical and fast paced, the revolution in techniques, the love for the fans... Buckethead takes the crown.
Someone with such astonishing beyond-world-class talent, emotion, musicality and creativity willing to play a small venue. And personally handing gifts to people?! This is a person who loves music and loves his fans. No ego, no self-aggrandizement here. This is so pure. Love, admiration and respect for Mr. Buckethead.
This was the first time I had really listened to Buckethead, and I've gotta say... I am astounded by the amazing creativity and ultimate progressive material. What a great showman and an incredibly talented artist! I have listened to this whole performance at least 15 times and I'm not bored. Very impressive...
I keep coming back to this performance. It’s got everything and I wish I could see him live. Buckethead is in a league of his own. His music is special in many ways. So many great guitarists and musicians. Dude has his own uniqueness and it’s crazy that Paul Gilbert was his teacher too
I have loved guitar most of my life growing up in a musical family. Buckethead has accelerated my love for guitar 10 fold. Thanks man for what you do. Pure inspiration!
I've got to say, the quality of the sound is amazing and the picture so vivid, it looks like Bucket is right in my living room. Almost 3D. Totally awesome. Spanks!
I am 51 , I started playing guitar at 13 , I'll never in my life time be anywhere NEAR this good ,this man is a genius ! And I have to say I'm very proud he didn't stick around g n R too long
Was für ein Hammerkonzert....hat mich total umgehauen!! Sound und Bildqualität einfach unglaublich, vielen Dank. Und dass Buckethead der Grösste ist haben wir schon lange gewusst.
Holy fuck, I’ve never seen him play a live set from start, (I will finish it), but he’s doing his show with the pedals and moves!! It’s not the guitar but the whole guy!! Makes me feel good to see someone doing something like this cuz I don’t see it a ton. Amazing!
I'm 56 years old and in my opinion jimmy page and jimmy Hendrix are the best guitar players of all time. But about 2 months ago l ran across this guy name Buckethead. and I have to say WOW !!. I'd have to rank him in my top 5. His Style is so different and his blues playing is F.N. COOL.
Your comparing them as they play today as opposed to what Jimi played some 48 years ago to today's incredible new players who were not even born when both Jimi & Page were at their height. If Jimi were alive today as great as he was then what do think he would be like now. You just can't make those comparisons to old & new as way to many years have past. Rock then was not like it is these days with the Tech side being up front. What we hear today came from the players of years ago. I love all these new players as well but you just can't make comparisons over the span of time that has transpired. Also remember that it was the old guy's that broke down the barriers were artists had to follow what the record companies wanted & what the artists wanted, they gave musicians back the choice to play the music they wanted & control of how they wanted it go. There is no contest for sure as the years have put a huge gap in between equipment & playing styles.Let's not forget that all these players like Joe & John & Danial site Jimi & Jimmy even Buckethead sites them as major influences & that surely means a lot
ahh Stevie ray Vaughan, Best guitar players are not really in a ordered list but a class. Its Subjective, however its simply objective to give reasons why they are in the highest level class of players
You're like most sheep. Need to hear lyrics. Need to hear someone telling you what to think, because you're unable to hear the words of the instrument. Typical.
dude my first concert i saw him at the richmond national a day before his birthday he was amazing i was front row it was such a life changing expirence when you see someone that great that close and really FEEL the music they made its really a big influence on my life i play guitar as well and im getting extremely good and only been playing about 2 years and this man inspired my life for the better with guitar with everything. Thank you Buckethead you may never read this or even see this if you do thank you for making my life better with the music you made from your mind and soul thank you so much its really good shit man keep it up remember your roots you can put down MANY more albums 2 come im a big fan i support u with what i can
I really wanna know what the communication process is like when Buckethead needs a new guitar from Gibson. I feel like an unmarked envelop just shows up with a hand written note, probably in crayon that only says. "Red buttons please" Then Gibson makes an all wite Les Paul with red buttons.... puts it in a box.... sets the box on the street with no information, then the first random person that comes across it just instantly knows what must be done and it magically appears in Bucketheads studio.
I have seen this man more times than I have fingers and toes! It is always a treat to watch him perform! He has to be getting up there in age. Has to be in his 50's, but his older shows used to be pretty wild. Constantly dancing like a robot, gifting toys to the crowd and accepting toys. Sometimes he would have a live drummer and those shows were cool. This seemed so chill and laid back, but he was on point here.
How do you know he is a man? The way he plays, he might be from another planet...... I think he has seven fingers on his left hand.....They just move so fast you cant see them......
My favorite version of Gory Head Stump of any of the live recordings of the Great Buckethead I’ve found on RU-vid. LOVE IT! And Seige Engine, too. This whole concert and recording is a treasure!
My 1976 Les Paul Custom which I bought for my 20th Birthday and is the same age as me was stolen. I have written recorded over 700 songs on it and it is like having a part of my body severed from me. It was stolen while I was recovering in hospital from a sever injury to both my feet an ankles and my spine. It was what they call Alpine White so was actually yellow. Wasn't much paint on the back of the neck and is still to this day the best guitar I have ever played. Watching you Buckethead reminds me of me on my 76. It makes me sad and happy at the same time.
I cant believe I never came across this video before.... I was at this show, and i had never even heard of Buckethead before this. Of course I was completely blown away by his performance. My friend and I didnt say a single word to each other until the show was over, then we just looked at each other and were like, what the fuck just happened, and how did it come to be that we were lucky enough to experience the most incredible musical performance of all time. I dont to go to concerts anymore because I know nothing could ever match this show, and why waste my money on something that will just be a disappointment.
