Best lesson for this song I've seen. The pacing is just right -- focused on the hard bits without going on too much about the easy bits and making the video too long -- and the fact you broke down the structure logically rather than going through 7 pages of sheet music for no good reason, is much appreciated. You're a great teacher
Toni, I am sure you have thousands of fans out here in internet land, but I wanted you to know I am one of them! God Bless You. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us!
There are many guitar lessons on YT with excellent tutors. Toni is so humble and at the same time a 100 times clearer. Toni's quiet, easy, concise style of tuition mirrors her playing whatever the genre. I just wish I had a guitar. Thanks Toni. Guitar or not I'm subscribed and going to follow your lessons - but not on my ukulele!
You can use your ukulele. It’s just a guitar minus the two lowest strings with a capo at the 5th fret. You can use the exact same chord shapes she uses, you’ll just be in a different key.
Fabulous lesson Toni. Thanks so much for sharing. I have to adapt my version due to a left hand injury, but would never have got there without your tutorial.
I've wanted to learn this but had never figured out the tuning. I just got the tab and I'm setting my mind to learning it. Thank you, really enjoy your guitar playing.
This cover is so good, could listen to you do entire Dylan cover album … great songs but sound even better when you perform them ! There is a beauty in the simplicity of a sweet voice and fantastic sounding acoustic guitar …
Thank you Toni. I was playing this in open D, just bouncing between the two D strings throughout. Your insight on dropping the fifth string back to G was spot-on. (Toni does it in Open E, so she drops the fifth to A) It sounds so much better with this when the tune shifts to A, and I always thought that I needed a bass player to get the right sound there. Thanks again!
Dear Toni, I love, love , love your version of this song. I think I have watched your video at least 50 times, just listened to it now actually. I hope you see my note here, just want to tell you I am a great fan of you and Elle, have seen you play live in Amsterdam couple of years ago. I hope you come to our small country again soon. 😘👏👏👏👏👏
Toni, you know you're amazing...performing with Reina has always been a delight and going solo every now and then is definitely inspiring whilst doing a tutorial is monumental...!!!
I believe you could teach most any subject. You strip away the superfluous and present the basics in such a way the difficult seems attainable. Thank you...
Hi Toni I've been trying to understand how to play the verse for months and with your simple teachng explanation I've got it. Cheers for this your a star.
I worked out a simpler version in a D tuning but when I heard your rendition it sounded so much better I knew I had to start over. Thanks for the very effective lesson, and PLEASE continue to put out solo tracks. I love what you do with Reina, Josh and Carson, but you are a wonderful vocalist (in addition to being a guitar virtuoso) and I sure would like much more of it. BTW, I really, really loved the instrumental coda you added to your video performance of this song on Reina's channel.
Hearing your cover was the first time hearing this song and I loved it. I've spent the entire day trying to play it and hoping you'd release a lesson on it. What a legend, can't wait to master this piece!
I saw John Renbourne play this from about 6ft away in a little pub in Sheffield. I've always loved it, but never thought to try and play it. Now I will - thanks to your fantastic break down 👏
Thanks Toni for your accurate guitar lessons, fifty years ago it was very difficult to pickup genuine guitar notes most were bum notes that made no sense so I was forced to learn songs by ear which I don't regret.
Thank you, Toni. I love your approach, you do not talk too much, just show it at tempo and then a little slower. This is deep water for beginners but a great relief for somewhat more advanced guitarists who do not need "which finger goes where" type of instructions :) Zs
Toni! Didn’t know you had you’re own channel. I think you’re an amazing musician as both a guitar player and singer. And wow, you also teach us ? Amazing! Thank you!
So good. Both your playing and the lesson. Heard you sing this yesterday in the van and so glad you put this lesson out there. One of my favorite songs. This gives me the courage to try to chop out a version.
So smooth. So gentle. I love your playing, and I've been listening to music for a long time. Your tutoring presentation is top shelf. Thanks for the entertainment.
It would be so great if I had any idea what you were talking about lol. Gotta say I loved the video non the less. I have been listening to this song 50 times a year for 42 years and now understand it more. Thank you so much for that.in 5 years I retire and will learn to play it.
Great lesson. Thank you so much for taking the time to inset tab, playing below and at tempo and spending time on the tricky sections. Look forward to more lessons like this. Excellent
Excellent lesson. The 2 best versions of this song out there are your fingerpicking version and Sully Tuttle's flatpicking version. As for a lesson, I would love to see you take one of your Reina del Cid covers and then do a lesson on your arrangement. What you select for the backing to the vocals, and then how you arrange your solo over that for the break. RU-vid has no-one doing that kind of a lesson (and I know it quadruples the work), and any of the Sunday Morning covers could be great fodder for such a lesson. It would be a song us bangers might play with friends, and would give use a roadmap to playing something way more interesting than all strumming the same thing.
@@ToniLindgren I keep putting plus on the thumbs up. I come back to the page along a thread and my thumbs up shows not to have recorded. Che cosa? (Italian)
@@jhh113 Luca Zerrilli. I think she actually went to Italy w/o a guitar and picked it up on the beginning of a tour. She talks about it here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WiUpvhU2kXU.html
Thanks so much for this. I've just recently started to get the hang of fingerstyle playing and this is a great lesson. That descending line is quite the thing to make the fingers do rapidly. Gotta train up the muscle memory a bit more, I guess!
Wow... this sound so cool and is exactly my style. Never heard this song before, I think. Thanks a lot for the tutorial and all the best from Germany 👍🙂
I can't play, or carry a tune in a bucket. I love listening, I liked, subscribed to give support. Toni is so cool, love to hear her play. Keep up the great work!
Damn I've been playing guitar since I was nine years old in 1964, after seeing the Beatles first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show and I've been teaching since 2000 and I have to say Toni, I learn something new from you every time I watch one of your lessons and it actually helps me to be a better teacher. To remember to be more relaxed and make my lessons fun for my students. So thank you so much man! I'm a fan and I think you just a marvelous singer and player!
I don't like many people but when I do I realy do .I like this woman a whole lot.she is smart ,funny, talented , and just to dam cool.I almost spent money online to get the lesson on this song and her version is better and it's free.I need these kind of friends.Oh thank you Toni
Thanks Toni, I had asked about the tuning on Rena's channel. I figured it had to be open E or D and I have been knocking around with it all day on my resonator that is tuned in open D. This lesson finished off the details.
Loved how gentle you played your guitar, and the melody coming from it was so sweet and soothing. Thank you for showing us how it's done. Not many guitarists bother to experiment with the tuning and harmonics anymore. I grew up listening to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Simon and Garfunkel, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Sweet Baby James Taylor, Carole King, The Carpenters, and many others back in the 1960 's and 1970 's. Today there is too much musical talent wasted on garbage lyrics. The language of love is not expressed in the same way it was back then.
The start is very informative and useful. A well-organised and useful lesson. I look forward ot playing this! In the back of a van in the woods, preferably.
Wonderful ! In the full video from 3:07 - 3:12 there is this wonderful guitar part not covered in this lesson. I had never heard this Dylan song before so I listened to it and I definitely like Toni's version better.... a personal preference so no hate responses please.
